I am about to buy a website flash template. Before I buy the template I want to make sure, that I am good enough to edit to my needs. I downloaded a free flash template and I tried to edit it in my Flash CS5.I have had a lot of trouble editing it and I can't even figure out how I change the pictures or the text. [URL]..
View 5 Repliesi'm trying to edit the text of a Flash project/website. The flash project structure is as follows:
- Main.fla
-- Section1.fla
-- Section2.fla
-- Section3.fla
-- Section4.fla
The Section3.fla file contains the text I need to edit. I notice that the text is visible inside the library:
"/Sprites/sprite 11" file
and
"/Text/text" 10 file
But when I try to edit the text 10 file I get the message: "This symbol is imported from a Shared Library. If you edit this symbol, it will no longer be imported. Do you want to continue?".
If I click Yes and edit the text and replace the Section3.swf with the new one, the website still shows the old text.
I'm a total computer newbie and kinda slow with these sort of things, but here goes.I made a website in flash and published it but haven't uploaded it to my website yet. If i do upload it, how do i edit it again, in Flash?I do have a webhost, but I can't edit it there because I made the website myself therefore I have to edit it from my programs and then publish it again, correct?
View 2 Repliesi am new to Flash and am currently working with an XML based flash template. When i open the .fla file, none of the text or images show up. I understand this is b/c i have to edit the xml file in dreamweaver. However that is a very complicated way of doing it b/c then i have to keep going back and forth between several programs and saving, and updating, and never getting of "live view" of the chages i am making. My question is: Is there really no way for me to edit the whole xml flash template in Flash CS5? Meaning is there some sort of way to import or manipulate the files so that i can edit the text and images directly in flash pro cs5 and not having to keep going into dreamweaver?

The idea is that the user will be able to take a picture with it's own webcam and then edit that photo for to send it to a friend from facebook. But I can't find a tutorial about to edit an image (a bitmap) in the application. Can you tell me how can I do it? I want to edit the bitmap on the same app, like add a frame around the picture and maybe add a message too.
View 4 RepliesI need to create or edit which ever is easier the preloader for a flash banner which someone else created. I have searched for days (well hours) for an answer to my requirement on line and have gotten exactly nowhere. I mean if I just wanted a black box with a 100% loading rectangle I'd be sorted by now but that's NOT what I need so I'm pining my hopes on the expertise within this forum.
What I need is a preloader with a single static graphic and 100% counter which stops running and displays a black rectangle before the main fla file kicks in. I have tried every which way to achieve this and the closest I got was a single static graphic with a static loading sign which was viewable at every transition in my main fla file as the graphics were changing?
In Flash CS4, I have a graphic of a long filmstrip with 24 pix in it. I need to edit the symbol in photoshop (to put all new pix in), and then replace the current filmstrip with the new filmstrip. How? This is CS4, not CS5.

I have to edit one image in Photoshop, but when I right click on it and choose Edit with -Photoshop, an error message comes up saying "The file G:Web-02Sitefilm120902.gif does not exist, unable to launch external editor". I don't understand how Flash can list the image and display the image when I click on it, yet it doesn't exist. I tried to copy the image and paste it in photoshop but it only pastes a very low resolution version of it. What do I do?

View 2 RepliesI have created a line on the stage with the Line tool, and then want to edit the Stroke and Style in the Properties panel. However, after creating the line these options are greyed out and not available to me. Even if I then select the Line with the Selection tool, I cannot edit the Stroke or the Style.

View 4 RepliesI have a pretty long timeline animation to be edited; in CS4 editing the file was no problem, you could scroll through the frames without problems, using CS5 and trying to do the same the app freezes for several seconds and then reacts and performs the last click you did - honestly I can definitely no edit the animation with CS5.Is there any sort of option which may cause this strange/slow behavior?
View 4 RepliesSo I have a music clip that is looping in my timeline. The frames for this clip extends to frame 2966. However, when I want to fade out the clip by going to the properties of the music clip and selecting custom for the effect, clicking on edit sound envelope it only lets me scroll to frame 2465 and no further....So what the heck am I doing wrong or is this a bug in flash?

View 4 RepliesI am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.

View 6 RepliesI have a 15 frame composition, a new image on every frame. Each image is the same H x W size as the stage. I can click "Edit multiple frames", and I get the selector/slider thing above my timeline which sets which frames are to be included in the editing operation. I widen it to encompass all frames and then select all frames. But, when I attempt to center up all frames on my stage (Modify-->Align to stage) or set the x y to "0", "0", only one frame cooperates- the one on which the timeline marker is on. The other ones don't comply, even though they are all selected.

View 1 RepliesFor the longest time, I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why my CS4 FLAs were getting larger every time I did a Save and Compact. I finally tracked it down to the @#$% metadata. Every time you save an FLA, it appends a useles chunk of metadata to it, that looks something like this:

On frequently-updated files, this junk can easily add dozens or hundreds of K to the size of an FLA. So my question is this: Is it possible to edit an FLA's metadata?

View 3 RepliesI am currently trying to make a Flash website for my cousin's business, and his website should feature a portfolio gallery to display the work he has done (He is a contractor). I am trying to use the SlideshowPro plug-in which generates a very nice-looking Flash gallery that is about 50 times nicer than the one he is using on his website at the moment. One of the big things I like about SSP is that it offers a full-screen picture viewing mode, which would allow potential customers of his to see work he has done better than they are currently seeing.
However, whenever I publish the website to test it and make sure everything is working okay, I go to the Portfolio page and test SSP in full screen. Once I come back from full screen, the gallery remains on top of the screen on every other page of the website. The audio also does this (It can play audio in the background while looking through the galleries you set up). Since I am somewhat new to Flash, I am not sure why it is doing this. Perhaps someone else has encountered this and has a fix or workaround that I could use.
