I have created a line on the stage with the Line tool, and then want to edit the Stroke and Style in the Properties panel. However, after creating the line these options are greyed out and not available to me. Even if I then select the Line with the Selection tool, I cannot edit the Stroke or the Style.
View 6 RepliesI used to have a little text panel (that sat with the color, swatches, and align panels) that I was able to open up and edit text size, color, underline, etc with. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

I added the effect with no problems, but I need to make some adjustments to the fade now (because I am using the Transition effect), and I cannot find the controls again.

However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

The text is in a file called about.txt located in the same folde as the swf.This is the contents of that text file:

I want to load Variables from a .txt-file to edit the properties of a movieClip. For example: 700 is written in the .txt-file. After loading the Clip the x-position of the clip should be set to 700. How can I do this?
View 14 RepliesIn Flash CS4, I'm trying to change the stroke width of my line or shape, with it selected, but the stroke width slider is greyed out (thus, unadjustable). Is it possible to edit a stroke width after something has been created? If so, how can this be done? I've tried selecting the line in all kinds of crazy ways, but still can't edit it.
View 3 Repliesi am new to Flash and am currently working with an XML based flash template. When i open the .fla file, none of the text or images show up. I understand this is b/c i have to edit the xml file in dreamweaver. However that is a very complicated way of doing it b/c then i have to keep going back and forth between several programs and saving, and updating, and never getting of "live view" of the chages i am making. My question is: Is there really no way for me to edit the whole xml flash template in Flash CS5? Meaning is there some sort of way to import or manipulate the files so that i can edit the text and images directly in flash pro cs5 and not having to keep going into dreamweaver?

The idea is that the user will be able to take a picture with it's own webcam and then edit that photo for to send it to a friend from facebook. But I can't find a tutorial about to edit an image (a bitmap) in the application. Can you tell me how can I do it? I have searched for days (well hours) for an answer to my requirement on line and have gotten exactly nowhere. I mean if I just wanted a black box with a 100% loading rectangle I'd be sorted by now but that's NOT what I need so I'm pining my hopes on the expertise within this forum.
What I need is a preloader with a single static graphic and 100% counter which stops running and displays a black rectangle before the main fla file kicks in. I have tried every which way to achieve this and the closest I got was a single static graphic with a static loading sign which was viewable at every transition in my main fla file as the graphics were changing?

I have to edit one image in Photoshop, but when I right click on it and choose Edit with -Photoshop, an error message comes up saying "The file G:Web-02Sitefilm120902.gif does not exist, unable to launch external editor". I don't understand how Flash can list the image and display the image when I click on it, yet it doesn't exist. I tried to copy the image and paste it in photoshop but it only pastes a very low resolution version of it. What do I do?

When I trace something in flashcs5, font size in the output panel is very big. Is there somewhere where I can set preferences for this panel? In other version of flash it was a lot smaller and readable.

View 5 RepliesOk the issue I'm having with flash is that the windows on the right side of my flash window do not snap up when I collapse a window. I am attaching a screen shot to better explain this issue.As you can see I have the color panel collapsed up, when I expand this panel and it goes down everything shifts down. however when I collapse it back up a huge gap is left behind in CS5.5 as is displayed in screen shot number 2. In CS4 I never had this problem. I could expand and collapse panels as I saw fit with no problems what so ever. Everytime now that I expand a panel and collapse it, the library or other panels do not move up with the collapsing. This causes a workspace issue. and forces me to drag up the library via the black line that is just above it but below the align panel so that I have better access to my library or properties panel for when I'm working. I find this highly annoying and would like it if there could be a fix produced to make it so this collapsing issue can be fixed and I don't have to waste time dragging up the library/properties panel everytime I need to access stuff in my library when I have a huge list of graphics I'm going through.

View 2 Repliesi'm trying to edit the text of a Flash project/website. The flash project structure is as follows:
- Main.fla
-- Section1.fla
-- Section2.fla
-- Section3.fla
-- Section4.fla
The Section3.fla file contains the text I need to edit. I notice that the text is visible inside the library:
"/Sprites/sprite 11" file
and
"/Text/text" 10 file
But when I try to edit the text 10 file I get the message: "This symbol is imported from a Shared Library. If you edit this symbol, it will no longer be imported. Do you want to continue?".
If I click Yes and edit the text and replace the Section3.swf with the new one, the website still shows the old text.
ive been creating .FLV videos using premiere. Inorder to view them in IE, do I need to use the 'Flash' software to create a .SWF? I'm a little lost in the process post edit --> web
View 4 RepliesI have a pretty long timeline animation to be edited; in CS4 editing the file was no problem, you could scroll through the frames without problems, using CS5 and trying to do the same the app freezes for several seconds and then reacts and performs the last click you did - honestly I can definitely no edit the animation with CS5.Is there any sort of option which may cause this strange/slow behavior?
View 4 RepliesSo I have a music clip that is looping in my timeline. The frames for this clip extends to frame 2966. However, when I want to fade out the clip by going to the properties of the music clip and selecting custom for the effect, clicking on edit sound envelope it only lets me scroll to frame 2465 and no further....So what the heck am I doing wrong or is this a bug in flash?

View 4 RepliesI have an mc called sunny. In the properties panel I export her for actionscript. I put Sunny in the main class and Drag in the base class. The reason for this is that I want her to be draggable. I can't use Drag in the main class as another object is using that name. The Drag.as has the drag functionality. Why can't I drag her. I already have a solution - I wrote a specific class for her and extended the Drag class. However, if I have 10 mcs I'm not going to write specific classes for all of them. Summing up: Using the base class Drag in properties panel - why isn't she draggable?
