I have an MP3 file in Flash 5.5 that I have edited in the properties panel of the frame where the sound is...I basically cut a couple seconds off the beginning by editing the timeline. It plays fine when I'm in Flash, but when I publish the movie, the sound is published unedited.

The value is there and if you click on that field again it will show up. If you click outside the field for a second time, this time the value stays displayed. How can I get the value to show up the first time the datagrid looses focus?[code]
View 2 RepliesI am having the same problem as a lot of other folks. I have searched through this and other forums and nobody seems to have an answer - at least I can't find one. The set up is this: I tried to view a video - received a message that I need to download the latest version of Flash Player - did so and everything seemed normal - tried the video again and got the same message. I have tried everything suggested on the official Flash Support page as well as this and several other forums and nothing changes.
I haven't seed this tidbit in other threads and it is probably worth noting that when I go to the page on the Adobe site where you can check which version is installed - it says no version is installed even though it apears normally in the Programs and Features window and can be removed from there. Off-the-shelf version of Windows 7 Home Premium , 32 bit running on an HP Pavillion Notebook. No problems with Flash Player unitl 3 days ago.
I have Flash CS5 and I'm trying to export SWC from it to use as a library with Flex SDK (FlashDevelop). I have "Export SWC" checked in publish settings and for a while it worked. Now, even if it still is checked, SWC isn't created (at least in the same directory as SWF). I even tried creating a completely new FLA and copied everything from the old library in there. Still it doesn't work.

View 6 RepliesFor those of you that use Flash like I do, as a drawing tool, then you may be disappointed to find that Flash CS5 no longer exports your graphics as .ai files. Your only options are .swf, .fxg, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png.Often I use Flash and Illustrator together. I'll draw in Flash and export to Illustrator. I mainly use Illustrator when I need text on a curved line. Then I bring that text back in to Flash.
It's odd because one time I just typed in .ai into the filename and it did indeed create an .ai file. However, just now, I tried to do that again and it won't work for me. ALSO... I upgrade from Flash CS3 to CS5 ultimately skipping CS4. The problem is, CS5 only let's you save to legacy CS4. So my CS3 version can't open my CS4 or CS5 files.
I produced an ActionScript 3.0, Flash Player 10 swf in a newly downloaded CS5 (trial version). The file loads fine in both Chrome and Safari on my computer. But when I open it on another machine I only get five animated dots - ..... - in a "wait while loading" manner. The swf never starts. Same on my brother's computer.
My browser has Flash Player 10,1,52,14 installed along with CS5 (swf works). My other computer claims to have Flash Player 10,1,53,38 installed (swf doesn't work). My brother's computer has Flash Player 10,0,45,2 (swf doesn't work).I've tried various publish configs such as on/off xml meta data, on/off hidden layers, embed minimal or more of my font etc.When I configure for ActionScript 2.0 and/or Flash Player 9 my animation breaks totally.
ive created a flash site for a client and it runs very smoothly on Fire Fox, but when it is opened in IE, come elements crapped!! what should i do, should i plce a splash screen that will tell them that "this site is best viewed on fox!", IE has many bugs!! esp in flash. above is the link to the site. all are fine in fox, except for IE. the links are on the products section are all popups because thats what the client told me, he doesnt want it to be external swfs. notice on the products section: Firefox: all product links are functional IE: Some are functional and some are not, and theres a ! sign on the lower left saying error loading page.
View 4 RepliesSo I have been working on a flash-based Website using ActionScript 2.0. I have been able to export it fine up until about a day ago. The file is only 4,330KB and when exporting as a SWF it will export about halfway and then it stops with no error or exported file. I exported it as an AVI, but since it's interactive it doesn't help. I've tried exporting it for Quicktime and the same thing happens.

Actually it is only text so nothing difficult. The result I get is something I had before, only bolt text parts or only the grey letters and not the colered letters...Iam using version 10.
View 4 RepliesI have a sound file in my library that plays perfectly in the library - a song with jingle bell accompaniment.When the animation is saved as a swf file, the song is there, but the jingle bell accompaniment isn't.When I extract the audio track from the flash file with AVS software,the jingle bell accompaniment is missing.
Background:I do not have the original recording that I imported to my Flash project.Even when I did have it, the jingle bell percussion was missing. I don't knowt how to get the sound file out of the library to save it individually (in case re-importing it would solve the problem)I don't know how to make the sound file play when I'm working on the file. (If I did, maybe I could adjust it in the timeline?)

The swf works perfectly when I'm testing from within the IDE, but when I try to run the published one it gives me errors.

I have a 5 minute flash movie that has great sound synchronization with the motion when I export as a SWF. However, when I export as a Quicktime file (.mov), sometimes the sound is ahead of the image. Is there a setting I can tweak during Export to remedy this? (so far I have tried to save the Video as "H.264" as well as "Animation". And for sound I have had no luck with the setting of "None" or "Apple Lossless."

I tryed in differents browsers, I tryed from localhost, uploading to an internet server, creating crossdomain.xml file in the root server, turning to "Access network only" the Flash Publish preferences... and nothing yet.

I've built a small, simple web page. One frame uses 3 ComboBoxes and one UIScrollBar. I set up my Components by dragging them from the Library and using the Property Inspector to give them values. Everything works fine and shows up when published... but then eventually, when published, all of the components show up as blank rectangles. I'm trying to minimize the data being loaded during Frames 1 & 2 due to the preloader. I chose to Export Classes in Frame 3. When I do this, my Components (in Frame 9) disappear. How can I solve this?
View 1 RepliesAdobe's "SWF File Format Specification v10" says that Speex encoded data can be used for streaming sound (a little clarification of the "streaming sound" definition here: "The SWF file format supports a streaming sound mode where sound data is played and downloaded in tight synchronization with the timeline. In this mode, sound packets are stored with each frame." - this has nothing to do with any FMS streaming, no ActionScript needed - just plain SWF).This should be accomplished by using a single SoundStreamHead2 tag with StreamSoundCompression set to 11 (which means "Speex", as stated in the abovementioned Specification) and then N pairs of ShowFrame and SoundStreamBlock tags. However, this does not work - Flash Player plays no sound when playing the SWF generated by me this way. Please note, that I am capable of generating such SWFs containing streamed MP3 or PCM data, which then play perfectly. Just not Speex...
I strictly conform to the Specification:URL...I tried the streaming sound approach as well as the event sound - both do not work.Moreover, I was not able to find (anywhere on the Internet) any sample SWF with streaming sound (nor event sound) encoded in Speex. Do they even exist? Anyway, Flash CS5.5 is not capable of generating them.I would just like to know whether Speex support for SWF streaming sound can be found anywhere else than in the Specification. It seems like we have hit a limit in how many assets (movieclips/sounds etc) that we can have in our library. We can export at the moment, but if we put in another cutscene or sound flash wont export. It shows the progress bar but when its done the .swf dosent show up and cannot be found in the project folder. Does anyone have a clue on whats going on? We've been working on this game for the past 5 months (full time) and we'd be devastated if all our time and effort has been in vain.

Newbie question, can't find this specific problem in the archives... I've created an app that has lots of audio. The audio is mp3 files. When I test it (CTRL+ENTER) I hear the audio. When I publish it and view it in the .html file locally (not a local hosting environment) I hear the audio. No problems there. But now it's on an actual server and I can't hear the audio. Wondering if there is a setting I've missed. I have not changed any settings related to audio. I'm actually emailing the .swf file, the .html file, and the AC_RunActiveContent.js file to an individual who has access to the server, and he put them where they need to be. I can see all of the visual content, but no sound. I assume I don't have to send all of the audio with it, correct? What do I need to do to hear this audio?

First few publications in html/ swf were okay, but after a few new steps the things all went wrong: the button went missing, the whole did not stop at frame1 as in my action script, some of the images went missing. I then deleted new steps hoping to get the thing back to normal, but it remained. After every futile effort I did (restarted pc, republished, saved as...), I suspected that there are BUGS whether in flash or in my pc, I did an experiment by simply creating a new layer and inserting an image in the layer, I published, and this time all the images has gone!

We are undergoing a site redesign and are interested in giving our Flash characters less real estate, so I am trying to determine if it is possible to make the characters smaller.I thought I might be able to do that with the height/width attribute of the object tag in the html, but I guess that would have been too easy.I know zip about Flash but do have CS3 at my disposal.Is there a way within the .fla file to make the animation smaller?
View 8 RepliesI downloaded the trial version so I could work on the final project for class but for some reason when I tried to save it my computer froze up. Is this because the save feature is turned off for the trial version or was it just my computer? If I can't save using the trial version than I wasted memory on my computer and a lot of my time downloading the trial version that isn't going to be very useful to me.

View 1 RepliesI created a flash file that contains a flv file inside. After I published it on my Mac in both html and swf format and it played well. But when I copied all this folder include the swf, html and the source flv to test on a pc it played well but the video part (flv) was blank. So I copied the .fla file to pc and published again, then it works fine (including the flv video part) on both pc and Mac. All the settings were same while publishing.So I wonder what's wrong with publish from Mac side? I work with Mac and so it's very inconvenient to publish my work on PC.
