I am trying to export a .swf file which plays video/sound so I can upload the file to a website (embedded). However, the sound does not want to play when in flash. It is basically of a person talking and lasts about 20 seconds. I have exported the file as a .mov using flash mx pro on mac. the .mov file plays in a quicktime but when imported into flash the sounds seems to disappear.
View 1 RepliesI imported an avi video to flash, converted it to flv with Adobe media encoder, and did some symbol animation on top of it.How do I export an avi video so that the video I imported is actually playing, and not just to see the skin and flv icon? When I test the video it makes it in swf form and I'd rather not convert it any further and mess up it's quality.Is it possible to view the video in work space while animating symbols over it (I kinda did it by heart)?
View 1 RepliesI have imported my wav files to my library added them to the down state of my buttons and when I test the file I get (Sound has no valid device sound path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export settings. This sound will be ignored.) I have been surching for an answer but as of yet have found none.
View 3 RepliesI can use flash ok to build stuff, but I usually just build a flash presentation with movieclips and buttons all contained in the one file. I have never had to put my creations onto cd-rom before. So now I am looking at a CD-rom and seeing how someone else has done it and I see that all the .swf files are separated, as will as sound and video. I thought the only reason to do this would be to be able to access and change for example and mp3. without having to open the flash file, but I am thinking there are other reasons?

My flash file contains only one frame, with an flv component, a movie clip and as3 code prompting various animations based on the cue points contained in the flv file.
I've tried exporting to .mov using both export options ( "when last frame is reached" and "setting duration of the flv video" ) and in both cases the export is not successful.
My question is: Given my particular setup - is this actually possible ?
I know there is a new grounds link about setting your publishing settings to get animated gifs to work with flash. I am using CS4 and when I go to publish the gif works in the html document. But when I export to an animated gif it is still a still picture. I have also tried to export to a quicktime file and it's is a still picture there too and distorted. Should exporting to png or gif sequence work as well?
View 1 RepliesFlash newbie here, using CS5 on a Mac. I've created several Flash animation files, all about 25 seconds long. The animations are fairly simple, about 6 layers each, but all contain a lot of movement. I need to turn the animations into videos that can be played on computers that don't have any Adobe programs, i.e. Quicktime. This is where my issue comes in. The published .swf files work wonderfully, but when I export the files to Quicktime video (.mov) the motion seems to leave a "trail" of images behind it. The static remnants go away after a few seconds but are replaced by new remnants of the current movement. I've played around with the quality and size of the videos, but nothing seems to have helped. I've tried used Xilisoft video converter to convert the .swf files into .avi or .mp4, but the files couldn't be uploaded. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what steps I could take to export my .fla or .swf files into high-quality video files?

I would like to export it at a smaller size, so I go to Publish Settings and I notice I can change the width and height. How can I do this while maintaing its proportions? It is currently 791 x 275. Using CS3.
View 5 RepliesI am creating an animation using ActionScript2 on Flash Professional CS5 and whenever I try to export (or even test) my animation, the progress bar comes up but the progress does not move. Then after about a second the dreaded '(not responding)' appears at the top of the window and if you click anywhere it greys out closes it.f I leave it it doesn't export for ages (liteally like 3-6 minutes which is long for just exporting).It only has 280 frames and the .fla file so far is 9.96MB! Other animations I have made have had double the frames yet 5 times smaller a file.
View 1 RepliesI've made a video in Flash Pro, and I want to be able to play it in Flash Catalyst. I'm using 5.5 of both versions, btw. I export the Flash Pro video to a .mov file and then use Media Encoder to make that a .flv file. I bring that file into FC and publish to web. However, when I put those 'deploy to web' files on my website, the video doesn't play. Everything else works except for the video. So I put a generic, short .flv file that I downloaded from the internet into my FC file.
I published it to my website again, and everything worked fine. The video played. So obviously the problem with my video must be in the encoding process. I read one article online that said when I export a .mov file for FC, I should make sure that I don't have 'Fast - Compressed Header' selected in the Streaming options. Well, I checked and I don't. It's just under regular 'Fast'. I've even tried converting my .mov file to a f4v file, and that doesn't work.
way to get access to sound samples coming from a microphone ?
So far I have not found such a function. In the meantime I am trying to overload alsa functions e.g: snd_pcm_readi to see if I can get the samples before flash treats them, but no success so far.
As a matter of fact, since I have no idea how both sound and microphone class work internally, I don't know exactly which alsa functions they call.

Broadcast video is OK. NetConnection.Connect.Success is OK NetStream.Publish.Start is OK.
But video coming first frame only in Player, not playing total video in player

View 2 RepliesI'm sure this is me just being an idiot but I have a problem with an mp3 player I've built based on the AS2/XML tutorial on this website. Basically, everything works fine in Flash (running CS4) but when I open the HTML page, it doesn't play any sound at all. I've tried all sorts of configurations of object and embed tags but nothing seems to work. All the sound files are referred to via XML and the .swf, .xml and .mp3s are all located in the same directory.

View 2 RepliesI have a Flash CS4 project with sound that starts to play in the first scene, set to event/loop so that it plays all through the entire time.
But I have a piece of video with audio in another scene and I would like to have the sound file playing at a lower volume while the video is playing, then get it to return to normal volume when the video is over.
I have no actionscript at this point. Just timeline animations, etc.
I suppose the title says it all. I can load an external video file (FLV) and I can have it play. I also have the custom buttons made to control the clip. The only thing I have left to do is to have the main timeline move onto frame 2 once the external video reaches its end. I am using actionscript 3 and flash cs 5.5.

And I really didn't expect any problems with layout in Flash.A while ago I built a Flex banner, but due to performance and size issues I want to rebuild it in Flash/AS3.[URL]..My flash file is already parsing the XML and I have all the data I need available. But right now I only show it as text in a htmltext field.After a long time of googeling around, it seems there is no way to achieve the layout with a "classic text" field. Can I do it with a TLF field? It does not look like it.
Can I do it with some displayContainer tricks maybe? I am pretty new to Actionscript, so I can only hope some of you experienced devs can help me with a few hints on this.How would you build it? For every entry I basically need a two column header (left side a image, right side text. all fixed height) below that goes a textfield of "variable" height. And then below that the next entry block, and so on. Just like in the Flex banner.
I found some frameworks, but they all want height values for all of the layout parts. Since I have a variable text height for each entry, I cannot use these frameworks. And because of size constraints I don't really want to use any framework if I can avoid it.
I am trying to parse an some xml that is coming from a php file. I used the DOMDocument to write the xml and then echoed it back out. It's perfectly formatted I'm sure. When I load the php file from flash I don't get any errors but it won't trace the xml. I even have the header ("content-type: text/xml"); in the php file. Can flash pick up xml data from a php file assuming everything is done correctly?
View 14 RepliesI've been making the transition from AS2 to AS3 for the last week and am making progress. But I'm having a problem that hopefully someone can help me with. I'm using Flash CS5. I have a fairly simple Flash website I'm working on. I have sections on the timeline like Home, About, Photos, Media ... all set up using labels for each of those sections. Everything is working fine but when I go to my Media section where I have a video placed (using the flv component) I'm having a problem as follows:
The video auto plays fine when I go to the Media section but when I attempt to leave the section and go to another the sound of the video doesn't stop. It continues to play when I go to another section and if I go back to the section it starts again. The video is not there when I go to another section which is the part that's confusing me. In AS2 when I did this the video and the sound both stopped because you went to another section on the timeline. Why is the sound of the video not stopping in AS3?
i used to create buttons, and use the over state, hit state and used to use the filters that comes up.
Now all of a sudden, I am not able to get those filter settings, to apply for mouse over state, hit state and others in the properties panel.
I have a swf file containing some text. When I print it from flash the text is coming out blurry and is not as crisp as I would like.
View 2 RepliesI am an html/css programmer and don't know much about Flash. I've just been asked to update this site which has many Flash elements. I just dissected the site but can't figure out where the slideshow is coming from on the home.html page. I opened the index.swf object and there are no images just a background. I believe the original designer used Flashbox for the slideshow and Flash as the backdrop? I think I have the other galleries (click View Rings portfolio or another portfilio) figured out.
It looks like it's pulling in a Flash file and the Flash file is pulling in images for the slideshow (at the bottom) from the images.xml file. I opened the Flash file (image gallery.swf) and the full pop up -- background and large photo and slideshow -- are included in the .swf file unlike the index.swf file. Am I correct? Not sure if a Flash file would pull in images from an images.xml file. How do I edit the Flash file if it's not pulling the images from the images.xml file? When I open the file it just shows me the .swf file in design view.Is this over my head and should I hire someone with Flash and Flashbox experience?
Im building a website and i want it to look like there's water coming down the screen when it first loads but be transparent and see the website behind it... Is this possible? I am no expert at flash so before i dive into it I just want to know if this is possible

In my .swf there is allready a .flv with sound and some more timeline animation I added. I allready tried to import the .swf to After Effects and re-export it from there to .flv but importing the .swf results into an empty timeline with 0 frames.
I have a sound file in my library that plays perfectly in the library - a song with jingle bell accompaniment.When the animation is saved as a swf file, the song is there, but the jingle bell accompaniment isn't.When I extract the audio track from the flash file with AVS software,the jingle bell accompaniment is missing.
Background:I do not have the original recording that I imported to my Flash project.Even when I did have it, the jingle bell percussion was missing. I don't knowt how to get the sound file out of the library to save it individually (in case re-importing it would solve the problem)I don't know how to make the sound file play when I'm working on the file. another thing: When im doing a video and work with things that are outside of my white document (in the gray area) for instance things that are to be faded into the document and so on. These things also show up in outside of my video when i view it in my browser.
