I want to create a swf of 5 photos that fade into each other. For example, black background, first photo fades up from alpha 0 to alpha 100 in one second, stays on screen for 4 seconds, then fades back to alpha 0 while the next photo fades up, etc, then the 5th photo fades back into the 1st photo and it loops.
What's the best, easiest way to accomplish this with cs4?
Also, if the jpgs are 980 x650 pixels and approx. 70 kb apiece, will I need a preloader if I'm going to use the swf as a header to my site? If so, is there a simple, plug n play preloader I can use?
I'm trying to create a little slideshow with photos. I created a little animation on every photo (a really subtle zoom-in or zoom-out effect) and transition using alpha transparency.
But some photos will flicker very bad. Expecially photos containing elements like grids or straight lines. Only really blurred pictures will render well.
I already raised FPS up to 60 but flicker still occurs.
I'm using flash8. Will another flash version (which?) render the movie in a better way?
The photographer at this site [URL] wants me to modify the slideshow on the home page. He wants to replace some of the old photos with new ones. Can I do this with Adobe Flash CS3? If so, please point me to tutorials that will get me up to speed. Or maybe it's too difficult for a Flash newbie?
I purchased a template website that has a flash banner which rotates three photos.I was able to get my own photos into the flash but I don't know how to have each photo be a different hyper link.Also the flash template has a next and previous button to cycle through the photos but I would like the photos to move automatically but again don't know how to do that.
I am well versed in Photoshop and getting somewhere in Illustrator, so the Adobe learning curve is not a huge factor for me. I have not, however, done much work in Flash (or any, really). I want to create what should be a pretty simple animation and I'm wondering what the best approach is. Also, I've never done any ActionScript work but do have extensive development experience. I have access to Flash Professional and Catalyst, PS, AI - all of Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium. I would like to draw/design in either PS or AI something that looks like a photo booth.
I want to animate some photos being printed out and falling out into the tray or whatever... just like what you see when a strip of four photos prints out in one of those booths at the mall or the movie theater. I want to do it a few times with a few different pictures. It would be easiest to just "hard code" or embed which pictures I want in the movie, but if I could eventually do some ActionScripting to just pull all images in a directory or (best yet) from the Flickr API that would be really awesome too. I just need to know where to get started. Should I try starting with FP or import some AI into FC?

i've been working with flash for a long time, but there's still something that i don't quite think i'm understanding fully. i see many of these sophisticated photography sites programmed so that the photo fills the whole screen (such asand the photo is crisp and clear on any sized monitor.i know how to set the site to be programmed to fill 100% of the screen, and i know how to "trace bitmap" inside of flash so that the photos work a little better. they then act more like vector images than bitmaps which tend to pixelate when proportions are enlarged. but when i use the "trace bitmap" feature, the flash file often becomes very large size in terms of KB, even when some detailed smaller images are traced.
I'm trying to play 2 external flash movies. its already running ok but i need the scene to be somewhat to gradually become transparent so that the timebased scene2 will comeout to of the screen.

it has interactive picture gallery where you roll over with the mouse and click on the desired photo to see it on bigger size. I have almost completed my first Flash project at work, after numerous losses of sanity, blood, sweat and tears. Anyhow I am on the last step and can see the end in site.
I have a movie within the webpage where text fades in. There are three components to the section; static text, a button and text that is linked via another movie file. When the text fades in each of the elements mentioned fade in at different times/rates. What should be looking at? I think that all the frame rates should be the same? Should I combine them all into one and make the fade easier to work with?
I'm trying to make a program that's meant for graphics tablets in AS3. So far I can allow the user to draw a line across the stage so that they know where their moving their pen around. However I want this line to only be temporary, and so the graphics.Clear() method is called to remove it.
I'd like this to look a lot better however, as the line just instantly disappears. Does anyone know how I could add code that makes the line fade out to 0 alpha first before I call the clear command?
I can't work out why - but when I try to fade out some text (by calling fadeoutSecondText), the text fades out, and then immediately fades back in. Fading in and out struggle against each other, resulting in rapidly flashing text!
I have created a flash pro cs5 movie with several key frames in and as the movie plays, it moves onto the next keyframe - each keyframe uses the same template but with a different picture in each. Also each keyframe has buttons in of which are all identical as well and stay in the same place as the movie plays.
As the movie plays and the picture in each keyframe changes I want each one to fade out then in to the next picture. I can see that you can do this in Flash Catalyst but can this be done in Flash Pro? I can not see how I can import the swf file into catalyst then fade each of the pictures which is tied up in a single swf file?
I am completely new to Flash and have been learning about alpha tweening to fade one .jpg image (of a customer's happy comment) to another. This works fine if I only have a small number of comments, but modifying each and every stage of the transitions would be a huge task if I have more than a handful of comments to deal with. Is there some way to set the transition and then apply that transition to all images? That way, I would only have to amend the transition once and it would make no difference whether I had 2 or 200 images to fade in and out of.
I've read through several tutorials but I must be doing something wrong on this. I'm using Adobe Flash Pro CS4. I am trying to create a short clip that fades text in over a bacground video. When I create a motion tween on the text track, I'm generating an error and the background video is no longer visible in the preview. Instead, I see the text over the stage background color. It is as if the background video track has switched to wireframe. Here are the steps I've followed:
1. Created Flash File (ActionScript 3.0).
2. Imported Video into the State background layer - it appears as a black image in the it previews fine at that point
3. Created new layer for text and placed text - it previews fine at this point, text is overlaying video
4. I right click on the text block and choose convert to symbol.
5. Next with the play head on the first frame and the Text layer selected I choose Create Motion Tween. just another CS4 newbie in a panic about the "new skool" tweening. I'm sure that I'm going to absolutely love it once it all sinks in, but at the moment, there are a few things that strike me as odd and I'm looking for guidance... Something I noticed last night that was different in terms of workflow was animating consecutive objects. Imagine the following simple storyboard: - a photo appears on the screen and gradually grows in size while fading out - after that photo has completely faded out, a new photo appears on the screen and grows in size while fading out.
Now, "old skool" I would have economized my timeline real-estate by having both of these images on the same layer. Since they are not visible at the same time, you can clear (delete) the first image and drop in the second image and everything is peachy. I found that this was not the case in CS4. I was taught to make a fading "slide show" in Flash CS3 using movie clips, key frames, and alpha channels. Is there a simpler way? I have a project with over 40 "slides." I am aware of some web sites like slide.com but they seem to include ads which I don't want on a professional site. Any suggestions on how to create a slide show like this one more quickly than with tweening movie clips? (I do have CS4 now.)[URL]
I am working on a flash photogallery. It is pretty basic, just consists of thumbnails. The larger images are on another page all together. I didn't write this script myself, I'm still learning. So i grabbed a flashmo file. It is flashmo_067.Anyways, i changed some things around. I made the images scroll with the mouse and i took out alot of the extra stuff in the gallery. I also changed the document size and the thumbnail size.I created thumbnails to the exact size i made the holder in the flash file. Yet when i pull up the movie, the images are doubled in size and are overlapping. I have looked at the actionscript a bunch of times and still cant figure it out. I changed the size of the thumbnail to be smaller but it just blows it up and makes it very pixelated. I cant seem to figure it out.
I've been modifying some code I wrote a while ago that simply loads and plays an external FLV. The original code works well as I can simply copy the swf into any folder and when run, it will play the FLV with the given name in that particular folder.
I decided to have a photo still over of the movie before it plays, so I modified the script and 'loader' to put in the external Jpg. If I test the swf it works fine. But when I install the code from a sub folder into a webpage via 'object', the Flash file trues to find the photo in the webpage folder not the sub folder where the swf originates and where both the FLV and jpg are?? Both the FLVplayback and Jpg loader address in the same way in 'parameters' of properties, yet the FLV plays and the jpg won't. I only discovered what exactly was happening on a hunch and copied a different photo into the main web page folder with the same name.
I have also rewritten it a completely different way using movieloader, but got exactly the same results. I know I could put the full web address of the jpg into the parameters, but then I have to modify it every time I use it. I'd really like to be to simply copy it into another folder.

I'm building my first website in Flash, and it's a porfolio website. I'm trying to set up my portfolio page to show screenshots of my graphic design projects, and when a user clicks on them, it enlarges the photo.
I am looking for it to be done like this website below when you click on their photo samples, it enlarges it, where you can also go to the next photo.
I have about 27 photos. They are all 250x188. I would like the work space to be 250x564 so that 3 photos display first and they keep scrolling from the bottom to the top continuously through all the photos and repeat. Could someone recommend the best way to do this in Flash CS4. I am totally new to this.
