I want to import an external swf file into my page, ive used the standard loadMovieNum as an action on the frame, however when I run the program i found that it interferes with the rest of the page, meaning it goes over the rest of the page. I have a drop down menu, and it means that the text loaded into the counter overlaps the drop down menu, is there any way of making it so that the movie being loaded into the counter does not overlap the rest of the page?
everything was going fine on a website project I've been working on, until yesterday. I'll try to explain the whole scenario first, and I'll put the code in here too so anyone can try to figure out what is wrong. Here's the breakdown of the site:
1) There is a MAIN SWF file that plays an intro and then stops on the last frame with the "Main" Navigation buttons.
2) Inside the Root folder where the MAIN SWF resides, there is another folder called "swfs" which contains six main external navigation pages, as well as another folder called "galleries" which contains additional external swf files for six gallery pages.
3) On one of the layers of the MAIN SWF, there is a movie clip called "mySWFLoadingClip" that the "Main" Navigation buttons load and unload the external swf pages onto. These all work perfectly. The problem start on the next step. This is the code I used for the navigation buttons on the MAIN SWF timeline:
[Code]...
If anyone can help me figure this out I would be really grateful. This is a very important project and the deadline is coming up very soon. Please help me figure out how to load an External SWF onto the main time line and then load an additional external swf from within the first external swf. I'm stumped.
I'm working on a simple example of loading external swf files with some ActionScript.I've placed an instance of List Component and gave it an instance name of loadList. Using Component Inspector, I assigned data for 4 external files as below:
Next, I've added a UILoader component (instance name - loadWindow). The code that is supposed to load the content into UILoader is this:
I'm trying to load an external swf and unload it after its completion. I have tried a few things and am stuck. Here is my current code to loading the swf, which seems to be working fine, its the unload I cant get:
I found some code that let's you load variables from an external swf. I'm trying to adapt it so that I can use the symbols from external swf library in my main swf. I get an error telling me 'call to an undefined method...' and then the name of the symbol I am trying to import to the main swf (testMe123_MC). Here's the code of my external swf as:
I've created a couple of flash animations, fairly simple, but the whole relies on loading external swf files and then unloaing them.
The base file works fine, loads the externals and unloads them (although I need to preven the user from hitting the unload button when there is nothing to unload) and will then load another just fine, IF I run it directly from my file system.
I want it to be on a web page, but when you click the button to load the external files, nothing happens. Safari tells me it cannot find the file, and I'm using the exact same directory to test.
So, works fine when testing with flash (CS4) and running directly from the directory in finder, but from a web page, it cannot find the file.
I thought it might have been incorrect naming conventions or instance names but I have checked and I'm sure i've got it all right.
Could it possibly have something to do with my setup of the timeline as I have all my layers on the same line.
Should I start all over?
This is what some of the code looks like an i have done the same for the rest of the invisible buttons
this is what part of the code looks like...
cut7_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler_3); function fl_MouseClickHandler_3(event:MouseEvent):void{ // Start your custom code // This example code displays the words "Mouse clicked" in the Output panel. trace("cut7_btn"); probackground.iloader.source = "images/cut7.jpg"; // End your custom code}
Last time I wanted to load an external clip I could do it like this on (release) {
[Code]..
So now I want to achieve exactly the same thing in AS3, I have been looking at examples on the web but am getting all sorts of errors and basically don't know what I am doing. I also want to know how to navigate to .swf files in a file structure, as I have to build an old school fscommand file structure for a cd-rom.
I have two different external .swf files that are loading onto a parent, I have the same code on each, one works fine but the other one is giivng me this error,
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at aavar/frame1() at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at aavar/mouseA()my FLA still runs, but I would like to work out what is going wrong. I do not have any references to this function in my document class but it doesnt like it! What is going on here?
I have a program that plays an FLV using netStream and has cue points embedded which trigger the loading of external graphics. If the code for loading the external graphics is commented out the video plays normally. However, if the code to load the external graphics is left in, each time a graphic is loaded the video appears to stop and start. FYI, I built the program using a FLVplayback instance on stage and there is no glitch when the images load, but I have a lot of other things built using the nestStream class so I'd prefer to do it that way.
I'm looking for an alternative to using: stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyFunction);
The problem I am encountering is that eventListener above works fine on its own(stand-alone swf), but when loading an .swf externally into another .swf, the listener fails with the following error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
How can you target the event listener when loading as an external .swf differently?
I am currently trying to load a movie clip in the main SWF. Got that done.Then call and replace the first movie clip with another, got that done too.This is for a menu i am making, I am not too great in action script. I am working in AS2.Problem is after I call the second external movie clip into the main SWF, it all stops working.Is there a way I set this up that no matter what it keeps loading and unloading the external movie clips? This is what I have so far.[code]This starts with the "king_menu.swf" already loaded, i have it unload it and load "dqueen_menu.swf" to the call point named "load_king".I am guessing I need to have a universal call point for all my external movies to load and work in a random chain.
I'm a total rookie working with flash and i'm wondering if theres a way to call in text from an external file. I'm building a news feed on my companies home page, and I'd like to be able to have my boss edit it easily 'cause he doesn't know how to use flash.
My client wants to take all the Flash games on their website and put them on a portable device that's not connected to the internet. I need to make sure that the swfs are completely self contained, in that they do not require the internet to load any swfs or other assets. The client does not have any of the fla's, so my plan is to download the swf and decompile it with Sothink, and then search the AS for these methods:
URLRequest loadMovie loadMovieNum
If the search returns results then I'll assume the game is loading something and that game will not be used. The client doesn't want to put any development time into this, so it either goes on the portable as is or not at all.
how to load an external using a loader to show while its loading...my swf which is to be loaded is a gallery having jus one frame on which action script is placed..
I found this code for loading external swfs and playing them in succession.
It works when I use the external swfs that come with the code, but not when I try to use any other external swfs.
I can't figure out why - does anything seem obvious (the clip swfs are here [URL]
// Array of external clips to use. Variable index refers to next clip to be displayed.var clips:Array = ["clip0.swf", "clip1.swf", "clip2.swf"];var index:int = 0; // Stuff to load swf filesvar thisLoader:Loader = new Loader(); thisLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT,
I am trying to load an external .swf (actually it is only an image that I published as a swf file, not a complicated movie) but I get errors. I am trying to load the .swf into a movieclip and the movieclip appears on the stage. I have put the code in frame 1 where the image should appear (in the movieclip). The code that I used is below and works fine with a .jpg and when I load it directly on the stage, that is to say, when I put the code in a frame on the stage. Why does it not 'work' right now?
I have added 'parent' in 'parent.event.target.content.y = 200;' in the first frame of the movieclip timeline, to make sure that it will appear on the (main)stage. The error that i get is this one: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at galerie2010_fla::mcBallon1_11/frame1()
This is the code in frame 1 in mcBallon1: var imageRequest1a:URLRequest = new URLRequest("images/SWFoverig/ballon1_702x368.swf"); var imageLoader1a:Loader = new Loader(); imageLoader1a.load(imageRequest1a); addChild(imageLoader1a); imageLoader1a.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1a); function onComplete1a(event:Event):void{ parent.event.target.content.y = 200; parent.event.target.content.x = 205;}
I'm having some resizing/full-screen difficulty with loading an external quiz swf into a video player swf. What's happening is that, when the quiz swf is first loaded into the video player, the size of the loaded swf has the correct dimensions and aspect ratio. That part is fine, but as soon as I try to fullscreen or resize the video player (using listeners with stage dimensions) the external quiz swf changes dimensions on me and looks vertically squished and smaller.
I've talked to other people about this issue, and they're telling me that this issue is occuring because the quiz swf contains elements outside of the stage. These hidden elements are supposedly giving the video player "incorrect" dimensions. Is this really the case? Is there any other solution other than fitting any hidden elements within the quiz swf within the stage? And if this is the only solution, then why on initial load does the quiz swf show up properly?
Someone here recently helped me immensely with a question I had about creating a previous button in my flash file that would allow the user to click on the button and view the previous swf file. I'm hoping someone can help me with making the Next button now, too.
I have a movieclip that loads an array of external swf files. I thought making the next button would be as simple as changing just a select few things to the previous button.However, that's not working. When I try that, the movieclip doesn't even load the swf files. Below is my AS2 code for my file. I bolded the part at the end that is for the previous button. Does anyone know how to make the previous button?
I have been searching on how to do this but I haven't found anything that I can use yet. I have a flash template that has about 6 different flash files. There is a menu on the right side that allows you to call the other files like this.
I have figured out how to load an external video file - and I can play an imported audio file, but I can't seem to use either method to load an external audio file into an array.
Here is my audio code: var tour_audio:Array = [tour1, tour2]; var my_num:Number= Math.floor(Math.random()*2); var ChosenSound = tour_audio[my_num]; var playing:Sound = new ChosenSound(); playing.play();
Here is my video code: var my_videos:Array=new Array ("link1.mp4", " link2.mp4", " link3.mp4", " link4.mp4"); var randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random()*my_videos.length); my_player.source = my_videos[randomIndex]; I tried "var tour_audio:Array = ["link1.mp3", "link2.np3"]; - but that did not work.
I have created buttons with this Actionscript. They load in the external swf's fine, but when I click on them again they load them in again, and again, and again... What do I need to write in the code so it loads in fresh everytime you click on the button? (or in other words, cleans up the load in page before it loads in new files).
I've been searching to find a simple answer to external preloaders, but it seems there are many ways to accomplish this with ac3. I am new to as3 and this is what I've come up with so far:
green_mc.scaleX = 0; black_mc.scaleX = 0; var loader = new Loader(); loader.load(new URLRequest("zibapistachiointeractivesmfilesize03.swf")); [Code] .....
Everything else is working except my dynamic text that should also be calculating the % of loading.
i developed application in action script 3.0 with adobe flash cs4 professional. In this application, i loaded another external swf which is having flash list component, but while loading the swf in main swf it showing TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at fl.containers::BaseScrollPane/drawBackground()at fl.controls::List/draw()at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() please, kindly suggest me for this issue.
I'm currently developing a game in flash and want to be able to divide up my .fla assets in a way that means artists can work on a game menu .fla in isolation from the game.fla and rest of the game code.If I could briefly explain how I've approached this so far, I would be extremelyMy project is setup like this:HighScoreMenu.fla -> document class HighScoreMenu extending GameMenu class.game.fla ->document class game.asgame.as class loads the published HighScoreMenu.swf and manipulates the menu i.e. animates on and off screen via inherited functions in the GameMenu class.
Now this seemed to work to begin with, until my code evolved and upon going to publish my HighScoreMenu.fla flash started complaining about symbols being used in Game.as that were in Game.fla... If I'm only publishing the HighScoreMenu which extends from GameMenu then why is it even looking to compile Game.as
I have masked the video clip. The masked clip is working fine. But the Actionscript 3, which contains 2 more SWF external movie clips not loading those files. Once I remove the mask they start working.
in my projects i often use some xml files to load external text that i can format in css and it worked fine till now..i have a site that i am prograaming in italian and german and in both languages there is much text that contains special characters as "à " "ò" "è" "ù" "ä" "ü" and so on .. the problem is that when i write some text with this special characters in xml when the text is loaded in the flash this special characters are not recognised and instead of them a small square is displayed ..
i tryed to load the text from a html file instead of a xml file (because in HTML i know how to write theese special characters and let them display right in my html pages .. for example à = à but no way .. the flash now loades the text à instead of à ..
I have a movieclip clip that plays when the movie starts, the movieclip is a visual assets that show's that the application is loading some information but it's not showing any loading progress, just playing while the assets are loaded.I created a for loop that will load the assets using a simple loader, and then when the object is loaded the application push the object to an array.Problem is that when the loading starts all the animation that i have on screen stops until the loading is finished.The whole point is that the animation will play while it's loading.
