Professional :: Moving Items In Banner On Screen?

I need to build something like a banner that shows two things. One is a picture coming in from the left or right side of the screen. The second is related text coming in from the left or right on the screen. I need to have it all controlled by an XML file that lets me specify the picture, direction the picture is coming from, text, and direction the text is coming in from.

I am trying create to move objects (boxes, named box_1, box_2 etc) to positions on the stage (xPos_1, xPos_2 etc) using onEnterFrames. I can make all the boxes move individually, but I cant get them to move together. I am using the following code in an attempt to move 3 boxes.

I have a vertical menu which is generated via xml. Each menu item also has its own sub menu (not shown). When clicking on the top level item I want the rest of the items to move down to show the sub navigation. i.e.
menu item 1
menu item 2
menu item 3
menu item 4
menu item 1
sub menu 1
sub menu 2
sub menu 3
menu item 2
menu item 3
menu item 4
I have that working fine. Say if I have clicked on menu item 1, and the sub menu is displaying, before i have can view another sub menu I have to click on menu item 1 to close it before I can click on menu item 2.
This is the code that I am using to tell whether or not to move the buttons up or down:

There's a long story behind How I made it here and why I am messing with AS3 in the first place but I'll try to explain it in a shorter version. My boss seems to think that I am the equivalent of Einstein with computers and will tell me what he wants and just expect me to be able to figure it out. So he told me he wanted a website that looked like the Mercedes Benz website and left it at that.I am working with Flash CS3 Professional Version 9.0, trying my best to figure out all the ins and outs of the program, since I am a first time user. I have finished almost everything with the site. I have it all animated and working pretty well, but there's one main problem. I have 25 buttons, sorted out by 5 rows and 5 columns. These button all have pictures of golf carts on them and when you click on the golf cart it opens to show all the products that we sell for that particular cart. The first button works just fine, but all the buttons after that will not stay on top when they are selected.
I can't seem to figure out exactly what I need to do. I hvae struggled with ideas that I may need to put them in a container and then adjust their depths, but I am not sure if this is right or if there is any easier fix. Here's the code that I have so far on that particular page,Quote:

I am making items that minimize onto the side of the screen as little icons, I have that figured out. What i am trying to accomplish is making them minimize to a dynamic spot if there is not already one there. There a bunch of posistions that they could minimize to, i would like them to choose the next highest avaliable spot. Heres some code that will make them do that:

It almost appears as if the tween action for the "_y" is holding its first value, as it always goes back to where it went when the movie loads.

If I use mySprite.x += 1; //it's choppy
if I use mySprite.x += .1; //it's smoother but slow
if I use mySprite.x += .5; //it's only slightly choppy but speed is better
Is there a way to guarantee perfect movement(the sprite moves subpixels), yet still have an adjustable speed?

I'm trying to write a only touchscreen kiosk application using flex swf(not Adobe air). Is there a way to include an on-screen keyboard(a virtual keyboard is automatically displayed) for all form items in the application for every view state wherever there is a form/textfield etc element. This is quite similar to android/ios apps where the OS pops up a keyboard wherever required for such controls?

I'm currently making a game in which movie clips move across the screen and you have to shoot at them to make them disappear and gain points but I am having problems with the code. I have been able to get the movie clips to disappear but when instead of points appearing in the Dynamic text box, i get the letters 'NaN'.
This is the code I am using at the moment:

I've got several small moveiclips moving around the screen to different locations using the tween class, and for some reason it leaves little red artifacts in their trail on the screen that won't go away. any way to refresh the screen or something? Is the only way around this to cache the movieclips as bitmaps?

I am displaying captiongs using flvPlayback and Captioning component. I've included the option for Full Screen and that is causing problems. The captions look great normally, but when a user clicks Full Screen the captions move. They initially display in the correct position, and their size has correctly adjusted to match the larger movie size. But then they move, or crawl, upwards on the screen by 1 or 2 lines. This is very distracting and I cannot seem to control it. Again, it only happens in Full Screen.

I am trying to move a playing card across the screen from the deck to the players hand. The deck is in a stationary position and each player has 2 card places in front of them which are also stationary. The deck is a movie clip called "deck" and the player cards are named "p1c1" and "p1c2"....(player # card #). The animation I am trying to accomplish is to duplicate the "deck" movie clip and move it to the players card. Once it reaches the players card, the stationary card will load the card image and the duplicated movie clip will be removed to make it appear as a smooth transition.

I want a sprite to be added to the stage, then move along the stage, I guess using the ENTER_FRAME listener. Then when it reaches a certain point, for example ball.x = 200; it is to stay there. I'm new to Adobe Flash CS4. I'm making an animation of some fish underwater. I have 2 small fish motion tweened to follow a large fish from left to right. When I view the animation in full screen the small fish seem to be wiped off the screen at a certain point. The tween box continues to follow it's path but the symbol disappears. This only seems to happen with larger objects.

I'm trying to create object and insert them in an array, for moving them across the screen. I'm trying to use the attachMovie for this task:
attachMovie("MyObject",arrayVal[counter],1);
the problem is that the second parameter must come in "" like
attachMovie("MyObject","arrayVal[counter]",1);
So, as you can see, i'm not able to tell which number comes on the "counter" variable
arrayVal[0]
arrayVal[1]
...
and i'm not able to use it latter:
arrayVal[0]._x++;
...
How is this usually done? (i'm a as3 developer, so i'm stuck here)

I have an array of say, food products. The array is full and fully visible at first. I have a filtering system, by which I can eliminate, one at a time, a certain category. So let's say that I disable the "fruits" category. The fruits disappear and I'm left with "holes" in the array. Up to this point it's all good, I can handle it. The problem is that now I want to close these "holes" by moving the remaining items around. And I have no idea how to calculate/formulate the logic of this movement.

I have a banner ad that cycles back and forth between two ads, and am trying to set it up so that when the first ad is up (5 seconds or so) and the viewer clicks on it, it goes to one URL, and when it changes to the second ad and the viewer clicks, it takes them to a different URL.

I'm trying to use a fla as a banner on my site. So far the best method I have is: export fla from flash as quicktime mov THEN use media encoder to convert mov to flv THEN insert the flv onto my site with dreamweaver. This works for me except when I try to view the site on an ipad, the animation doesn't run because flash player has to be loaded and that's not possible on an ipad.How can I make this banner viewable to someone on an Ipad as well as a regular PC?I'm thinking by somehow uploading the mov to the site (which I don't know how to do yet) and then having some kind of code or something that makes the mov play for ipad and the flv play for everyone else.

I'm pretty new to Flash, and having a few problems with a website I've had to design for my college ICT course.I built the site entirely in Flash, which went perfectly, then went on to build a scrolling image gallery banner for use on a gallery page of the site (assuming that it would be an easy task to chop the banner into the website).When I've tried importing the file to the stage/library it leaves all the images behind (as they are in the library of the first file) as well as the actionscript required to call the images; leaving me with just a new, blank layer.I've also tried copying the actionscript code into the website document and transferring the images from the gallery library to the website library, however, the gallery is written so that the stage is used in its entirety to show only a certain amount of images, meaning that the proportions of the banner are all wrong on the website file.Is there any way to integrate the flash file for the gallery into a confined area of the stage in the website document, or am I going to have to alter my designs so that the gallery goes entirely across the page (put up and shut up style).
