Two related questions:
- Is there a way to click on something in my project---a symbol or a sound clip I have already placed from the library---and find out which particular library element it is?
- Can I play sound from the library window, to preview it before placing?
I would like to know if there is a way to find out where is a symbol used into a Flash document.If Symbol A is used by two other symbols (say B and C) is there a way to query the enviroment to know that A is used by B and C?
View 5 RepliesBasically there's an object in a movieclip. I want to find the location of that object in relation to the movieclip, not of the object's symbol. So when i look at the x and y of it, it wont show 0, it will show the x and y location in the movieclip it's in.

View 1 RepliesIs it okay to embed a sound in a symbol? I ask because I have an animated symbol, and have included a sound effect in the symbol's timeline, however when using that symbol from the main scene,the sound effect doesn't play. However if I put that sound effect on the main timeline, then it plays.Personally, for timing purposes I'd much rather use the sound effect within the symbol's timeline, but doesn't play for me.
Am I doing something incorrectly, or can't sound symbols be used from within a symbol?
I know I have an instance of a sound somewhere on my stage, but I can't find it! Is there a better way to find it than simply looking all over the stage? I have code attached to it that I need to access.

I have a trace on trackFinished, and it never happens, so it's never getting called.
I've gotten stuck on a sound issue where I want the sound to play when the mouse passes over a symbol, which I've managed to get working, but unfortunately it is also playing when the page first opens, which I certainly do not want.

I am working on a school project using arduino and flash.
I am using motion sensor to make a movieclip symbol visible and invisible. I want to play a sound when symbol.visible = true and then turn it off when it is false.
I tried using gotoAndPlay but it said the method was no long supported? so I couldn't do that.

I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)I want to know if my flash header can support the following addionalunctionality/changes:1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.
3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. However, I want to find out if my flash header will even work this way before I invest the time learning it just for these changes. I know it will be pretty deep with script code, but I'm hoping I could find base code already available for these features.
Ive stumbled upon a few sites that have free sound FX's but the ones I want which I wuld think are the easiest to get I cant find.I want a sound for when someone clicks the right thing, like a under a sec tiriring or something like when you kill a guy in Leauge of Legends or something like that and also one for when you click the wrong thing like an windows warning ut a little different, yet all the sites and SFX I come across are for everything but those.

When I create a motion tween and enter in a value for where I want the symbol to go, it never goes to where I entered. Example, every time I try to get a symbol to go from (308, 238) to (308, 233), it replaces the 233 with 218 and I can't figure out why.
I have imported my wav files to my library added them to the down state of my buttons and when I test the file I get (Sound has no valid device sound path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export settings. This sound will be ignored.) I have been surching for an answer but as of yet have found none.
View 3 RepliesI created an illustration in Illustrator, imported it into Flash, and converted it to a movie clip symbol. I added a keyframe at frame 20 and stretched its shape a bit. Then I created a classic tween from keyframe 1 to keyframe 2, and the resulting animation doesn't animate at all; it sits there from frames 1 to 19, and then jumps to the new position at frame 20.

View 4 RepliesI have a head drawn in Adobe Flash CS5. I've converted it to a symbol. I want to be able to draw a mouth, add a frame, erase the mouth (without erasing the head), and draw a new mouth, and repeat. However, when I convert the head to a symbol the mouths I draw ontop of it do not show up, and appear behind the head. I know converting the mouths into symbols will fix this, but that would take too long, defeating the purpose of what I'm trying to do.Is there any way to draw on a symbol?

I can't seem to add more than one bone to a "Symbol" but I need to. For example I have the "body" symbol and I need to start the bone at the neck and then drag it to the waist/hip area, but when I drag the bone from the neck area to the waist it won't let me attach the boneto the waist hip area of the same symbol. Why is this? I've seen this done in a tutorial but I don't know how to do it.
How can I rig the character in the image so the legs are attached to a wiast or hip area?
1st bone - Start a bone at the head, then drag to the neck.
2nd bone - Drag the bone from the neck to the waist.
3rd bone - From the waist to the hip.
4th bone - From the hips to the legs.
Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual. I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

View 1 RepliesI have completed a bunch of keyframes with 2 symbol on each moving around. Now I want to add another symbol that will be static. That is, at the same position in each keyframe.
How can I add the new symbol to 250 keyframes that are already set and already have 2 symbols in each?
I can see how to do it one by one... but there must be a better way than that. selecting a herd of keyframes and pasting in the new symbol, ends up only effecting which ever one has the play head.
I also realize I should have put this final symbol in at the start but too late now. So how can I insert a new symbol in 250 keyframes all at once?
Is there anything a graphic symbol can do, that a movie clip can't? So many tutorials I look at, use Movie Clips for so many things, including one frame objects, and buttons etc...So, is there any benefit to ever using a graphic symbol over a movie clip?

View 7 RepliesI am in the process of updating all of my symbols in a project I am working on, and found that some of the objects are set to temporary paths, I guess I had just imported from the clipboard, as opposed to importing an actual saved file.
Anyway, there is one particular graphic object that, according to my library, is in use in 1 place in my project, but I can't for the life of me find where that is. Is there any way to locate instances of objects in the library? Or am I going to have to go through my entire project, piece by piece?

View 1 Repliesim making a flash animation in which i made a symbol called #_mc which is in a symbol called #_anim_mc withhin the sceane.the #_mc contain "#". the #_anim_mc contain motion tween of the the "#" coming in from the left to the right. now within the main timeline i duplicated the #_anim_mc 100 times and i need to switch them with numbers but not all togethor. one by one.for ex: the 1st after 20 frames the 2nd after 28 frames etc. now i dont know how to make changes in each one to time them when to switch to a number. the only think i can think about is to make 100 differnt symbol each one allready set to its own timing.
