I am following this tutorial (Url...) on how to build an audio mixer in Flash. I am trying to display the duration/position of one of the sound objects in the mixer (all sounds in the mixer have the same length). I have tried adding this code to the actions under frame label "ready".[code]I have two dynamic text fields named Text01 and Text02 on the main timeline. Yet, nothing populates.

I have currently a music player that uses Sound.position and Sound.duration to use as a playlist. However, the sound is streaming, so then Sound.duration is the number of loaded seconds/miliseconds. Is there a way for me to figure out the duration of a sound without fully loading it? Right now, it really messes up the playhead.

I have a mp3 file and I would like to play it from one position and for a certain duration. I have first used the Sound class, the play method where I can specify the start but not the duration. I have looked then at SoundEffect class where you can specify a duration and a startTime. However I do not know how to play it from a AS3 class not from MXML : there is a play method ... but I get no sound!

1. Is there a method of determining the length of a sound file (mp3 primarily); in bytes, elapsed time, before the file is played? (the file could be played against a stop watch and the elapsed time record after the fact, programmatically).
2. Is it possible to set markers and fast forward/rewind to markers corresponding to the file?What I am thinking of is a feature allowing the user to play a file to a point and pause, set a marker, rewind and play to the marker and stop, or fast forward from the beginning and play from the marker, or even play past the marker and rewind to the marker.
Setting a marker would be the easy part: just record the elapsed time when the pause function is called.Getting the sound file to start playing from that point without the previous part played at normal speed;(with volume off) is the essential part of this question.

I'm really new about OOP AS3 programming, seems I can't fully understand how the eventcentral class works.For what I've understood this "system" allows classes to communicate between each other, passing parameters and call functions.So, having this ultra simple class:
Code: Select allpackage
{
import flash.events.*;[code].........
I'd like to execute (in the main class) the function "callthis" in the seconda class.

i have a mp3 player that works perfectly offline but once online the sound.duration seems to be incorrect. The sound.duration = 15' online and 52' offline. And it's the same for each mp3 with an incorrect duration. You can see what i mean here : [URL]

I'm building a simple audioplayer. In frame 1 I have:
Code:
mySound = new Sound();
songs = new Array("1.mp3", "2.mp3");
songIndex = 0;
mySound.loadSound(this.songs[songIndex], true);
mySound.start();
var playing = true;
[Code] .....
So, the sound begins to play from the beginning. However the problem is with the timer: when 'stop' is pressed it says 0:00. But, when I press play again it immediately jumps to the time it showed when stop was pushed, e.g. 0:12

I've developed a neat WindowSWF panel after watching Lee's demonstration video. I got everything I needed to work, but I'm having trouble getting information from my sound files. Basically I have a list of sound objects (.wav format) in my library and I want to find the duration of each file so that I can add them to existing movie clips, then add or remove frames depending on the length of the sound file on the frame. I've been pouring over the jsfl actions libraries and can't find any method to get the duration of a selected sound file.

is it possible to make the duration of a movieclip equal the duration of the preloader, i mean is it possible to make something like, the time the preloader needs to reach the 100% = the duration of the movieclip? i'm using AS 3.0 and flash CS4 just in case it helps here is my code for the loader:
Code:
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loadProgress);
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadComplete);
function loadProgress(event:ProgressEvent):void {
var percentLoaded:Number = event.bytesLoaded/event.bytesTotal;

Basically if I have a sprite for example located at (10,10) I want to move it to say (50,100) and the whole process to take 2 seconds or whatever duration I specify. What is the exact math behind this? I was using a distance based solution to determine speed but was just using a random modifier to control the process. I need something more precise to execute exactly over a set duration.

Stuck on this big time. Using as2. I have a draggeable record. I want a button on the record that when I hit it, it plays a sound. I've attached the source. I've tried a few different tests and I've figured out that the onpress action of the main mc itself I believe acts for the mc of the speaker. I want the record draggable but need to have the speaker activate if i hit it.[URL]..

I am using Flash CS4. To illustrate, I created a new flash file and added a short tick sound to the library. I set the properties of the sound to export to Actionscript and named the class "overSound". I added a Movieclip object to the stage to represent a button and gave it an instance name of "overButton". On frame 1 of the main timeline I added the following code:

I'm creating a simple image slideshow gallery where the images are presented one after the other in -fade-in - fade-out animation. I'm looking for a 'smart' way of delaying/pausing the slide show at the peak of the image brightness. I've found several codes however, they messed up the function of the PAUSE, NEXT and BACK buttons. Pause button would pause on an image, however the delay timer would start counting once again and the animation continues.

Is there a way to tell a movie clip duration without opening it? I have several movie clips on scene and it would be great to be able to tell where the scene ends, without opening each movie clip, adding their length to the starting frame and comparing them, which one will last the longest in the end.

I have created an animation in Flash which is 2mins long at 25fps, so 3000 in frame length. However when I export it as either a swf or a mov it plays for 6mins! The frame rate is definetely 25fps in Quicktime export settings also but still it doesn't play for the correct duration? The Quicktime movie says 6mins also desptire the fps matching.
The movie is a standard timeline animation?

Is there any AS3 library or code-snippet that can create altered versions of a Sound object on-the-fly (at runtime)? Either based on:

For example, say you have a "dry" sound of a gun-shot. You could:

I am using the following to extract the byte info from a sound object - however if I go back to the same sound object and run this again, The byteArray has no bytes available.
var data:ByteArray = new ByteArray;
sound.extract(data,sound.length*44.1);
data.position = 0;
return data;
Is this the correct behavior? Is there not a way to do this multiple times on the same sound object?

I have been at this for about 19 hours straight! I am going to go to bed immediately after this post, but for crying out loud, I have NEVER had this problem before today! Before anyone reads ahead and says 'you have to attach your sound object to a completely separate mc to be able to control it independently from all other sound/root volumes.' see if the following code accomplishes just that:

Is it possible to take two Sound objects and combine them into one Sound object so that one Sound plays, and then the second plays right after it? I can just play the first Sound and then the next right after it, but it would be much cleaner to combine them before playing the audio.

Firstly I'll explain what it is that I am doing. I'm creating an interactive CV within Flash CS5 using ActioScript 3.0. I've made my CV and everything works fine. I have a page however named Creative Work. Inside this page I've imported 3 video files and minimized them down so that the navigation/ play/ fullscreen bar is only showing. I've indicated on the page that the videos are best viewed in fullscreen, which is why I've got the navigation bar with no video, as I want people to press full screen.
1). My first problem is that none of the videos will go full screen when the full screen button is clicked. My document size is 550 x 400 and my videos well excede that size. My understanding was that Flash would fullscreen them to your document size. Do I need to put something within ActionScript, code wise, that allows the videos to be full size in relation to my document size, or do I need to edit the videos so that they are 550 x 400?

I have a button which has two appearances in the button symbol editor. On the "Over" frame there is a highlighted rectangle for mouse hover - works great. On the "Down" frame I have added some type (a short sentence to indicate the user has selected incorrectly, that they have hit the wrong button), and I have a short sound to help with feel/feedback - this works great also.
However - the type on the "Down" frame only shows during the very short instant while the mouse is clicked, or if the mouse is held down the type will show and the sentence can be read. - This is not great.
Basically I need a longer duration for the appearance that is in the "Down" part of the button instance to show slightly longer; say one second - long enough for the type to be read. These Buttons are used at a point in the timeline where the action has been stopped; the user clicks incorrect answers until they select the correct button, and are brought to a latter part of the timeline/movie. Is there a way to lengthen the duration of the "Down" state of a button symbol?

I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)I want to know if my flash header can support the following addionalunctionality/changes:1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.
3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. However, I want to find out if my flash header will even work this way before I invest the time learning it just for these changes. I know it will be pretty deep with script code, but I'm hoping I could find base code already available for these features.
