I have a panorama picture and I can move this picture using my arrows I have made. I would like to put the buttons on the specific place of the picture. I want to make the buttons move with the picture while I scroll the panorama.

Do I need instance names on each of the buttons and add listeners to all of them?
I am trying to make a group or rollovers that display larger versions on images when you rollover their thumbnails. The problem is since everythign is in layers the bottom layers rollovers show up undernieth the other thumbnails. My whole website design is based on this and I want to avoid writing code for each individual rollover. Is there a way I can make it so all the rollovers apear over all teh other buttons?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to build a flash website for my social group to login in and view certain things posted by the owner, me, and I only want certain members to view certain things like if I post a message to my treasurer about an invoice to design a graphic for a company and that I request this ammount to intialize the project, I would only want her to see that and nobody else. Is there a way to make that happen in AS3?
Like FaceBook: You can login and register for a new account. Post on your wall (which I don't want that feature). Send messages and receive messages to and from people. Invite people to upcoming events (which I would like to have a calendar that I can create new events and have my members view the calendar and RSVP). And like when your posting on your wall you can make privacy settings change (similar to what I want just not friends only or just me option, I want Everyone, 'names of everyone that is a member to post this to'.).
I'm trying to figure out the best way to email my flash file to a large group of people for quick viewing.There are people with all different kinds of software and computers, so I don't want to zip anything.The projector file I made is too big to send out.Does anybody have any suggestions on how to email flash files for quick, simple viewing?

View 9 RepliesDoes creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?

View 3 RepliesI am trying to target a TLF Textfield within a movieclip from that movieclips custom class, but the class can't find the instance name. When I trace out the child name it comes up with a random instance name, not the instance name I set on the stage. When I try and target it from the movieclip's timeline it works fine. Is there a class I need to include in my custom class, or is this a bug? I would love to move from dynamic text fields to TLF, but this is a big hurdle.

View 1 RepliesWhen addressing nested movieclips like so: _root.movieclip.movieclip.variable they need to have an instance name set, otherwise they count as undefined. So I can set that in the properties no problem, but when deleting it from the stage and then readding (manually or by actionscript) the instance name is gone thus I can not address nested clips by action script.
I don't understand how this will work then, since every time I add a clip by code it will have no instance name. The only alternative for me so far was keeping the clip on the stage the whole time, just out of bounds or invisible so I can still do stuff like _root.movieclip.movieclip.variable or _root.movieclip.movieclip.gotoAndStop(2).
I have a FLA in which I've added three movie clips, each with a unique name. I've set the MC name through the properties panel as well as giving the MC a name when converting it from a image to a MovieClip (by clicking F8).
When I run the swf and output the names of the children in the swf, I find that the name of one of the MovieClips changes, for example from myFirst_MC to instance8.
To output the MovieClip names I loop through all the children of the swf and output the name like this:

Why does the instance name of a MC change? And how can I stop this from happening?
When load an image into a instance, I can't align them because the reg point is different.

So, if I have a presentation with 50 slides and they are named 001 to 050 and I need to insert a slide between slide 010 and 011 is there a way to have Flash renumber them or do I have to just manually rename.

View 4 Replieswhen I place a MovieClip element on both key frame1 and key frame2 from the content library, and let the instance on frame1 has no instance name, then the instance name which I give to the instance on frame2 has no effect at all——namely I can't refrence it by action script code on frame2 of the main timeline.I checked the content of the binary-file outputed by flash cs4, and got that after the first ShowFrame Tag, the instance was modified by the PlaceObject2 Tag, but the PlaceFlagHasName was not set, is this a bug of flash cs4?

I have a bunch of movie clips set up to the same instance names as the ones mentioned in the follwoing code using this. however I am trying to make it so that when clicked, the mouse click event will cause the selected item to be set to the front of the stage and not to be overlapped by anything in front of it. I have been doing research and know its done using setChildIndex but evertime I try and implement it I get errors I muse be doing something wrong could one show me in this code where the 2 or 3 lines of code would go?

why do when I draw a triangle for instance with the pen tool, and then I rotate it with the free transform tool, so while I rotate the triangle, it is scaled and dissorted its shape, and it lengthen a little. And I don't know how to prevent it.

I have created some movieclips and will be using them as buttons. After applying event listeners to them, they do not correlate to their instance names. I have a switch case statement set up to catch when one of the movieclips are clicked on and this is caught, the method is invoked but none of the cases are satisfied as all the buttons have the instance name "instance58" for example....they are all numbered instances.

A seperate movieclip named page4 shows in the library to have 6 uses. On the clip are two text boxes both static and one has a movieclip button overlayed. Selecting any of the three changes the propery panel for allowing editing. However. Even though I can see the reference point (the cross) of the movieclip page4, I can find no way to get flash (CS5) to show me the properties to allow giving it an instance.
This is a very basic question. I'm rather new. Just wondering how one creates and manipulates dynamic objects, when they were designed in the library- not dynamically.
I want to make symbols in the library (linked to classes) and then dynamically create them and manipulate them in the actionscript code. But when I create them in the code, any instance names of sub-symbols cannot be referenced...
The instance name is "instance244" and not "leaf_text" which I set under [properties>instance name]
I have a third party slideshow instance (SlideShowPro (SSP)) and have used the following code to allow SSP to resize to screen:

It all works fine. However, I am trying to put in links on the stage outside of SSP (i.e., Home, Gallery, About, etc.) as shown in this example website [URL]. When I do, the stage is truncated and part of SSP is skewed off the page.
How do I make sure that my stage containing text and SSP is captured as the SWF?
