Apr 3, 2012I'm learning how to use flash CS5.5 and i'm unable to continue a lesson because my button editing seems to not work properly. -When i double click or right click and click edit on my button I go into the symbol edit screen, where i can see the basic button states "Up, Over, Down, & Hit" but when I try to change the appearence of the button in each state the color and any sort of editing done to it does not happen, it is red in the "up" keyframe and when i try to change it to gray in the "over" keyframe it stays red.
-I found that double clicking the button in the edit screen goes into another edit screen labled "symbol 1" and in there i can change the color of the button, but any edits in that screen remain ineffectuall to the actuall button on the main screen. I don't know what is wrong with it, or if I am missing something, i've tried in both action script 2 and 3 and both have the same results.

(this is a "find the differences between the 2 pictures game" and I want circles to appear over the differences that the user finds but only after he clicks it)
The button (or graphic) I want to become active has instance name of "sockcircle_btn" The button you click to make it appear is called "sock_btn"
In the first frame of the sockcircle_btn layer, this is my code

The file is setup to loop between frames 2-3. But the sockcircle_btn never enables even when sock_btn is clicked.

Dec 6, 2010I simply don't know the syntax.I am attempting to make something similar to a Jeopardy board for a Christmas party at work. I have a grid of buttons that correspond to different questions. The function would be as follows: The button "eng_1" (as in "English for 100 points)is clicked.This makes the button "eng_1_q" (as in :English 100 question) visible, so the question can now be read.The button "eng_1_q" is clicked, and that button is then made invisible. The question can not be seen, now we have returned to the board.The original "eng_1" is now a different colour (or left in it's "down" state) to show that the question has already been asked (not sure if this should be part of the function of "eng_1" or "eng_1_q").My idea would be something like this.
eng_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,][code]...........
So once again, I'm just unsure of the syntax.

But when I am trying to change the label text in one of my buttons the text is changing on the other button as well. I believed they where separate instances?

May 6, 2010I'm sure this is something easy that I'm missing, but I can't figure it out. How do I make a button invisible? I need it to be invisible through frame 43 of my movie. I have tried changing the alpha to 0, but it's not letting me change that, except in the edit button mode which changes it for the entire duration and not just through frame 43.

Jul 28, 2010I am making a few language flash cards in adobe flash cs5 with as3. the flashcard is a movie clip and when you push a button (located on the bottom left hand corner of the flashcard) the movie clip flips the card to give the translation. it looks a little unprofessional to have the button stay in place while the card flips. is there a way to make the button disappear for the duration of the movie clip, and then reappear at the end?

It has to sit on top because otherwise the outlines don't show up above the color fills for each state. I want a popup balloon to appear when you roll over each U.S. state. Feb 20, 2012I ve got a drag and drop code working, but what I really want to do is have a check answers button that tells the user, you have none correct, or two correct or all wrong... I have one target area, and 3 correct answers (out of 7) so I would like to let the user put as many ansers on the target as they want and then check if they have any correct, also a reset code would be nice to put everything back where it started... Mar 14, 2007I'm loading in 5 jpegs from an external file using "loadMovie" and i have 5 corresponding buttons (1-5) to load them with.
I want to change the jpeg the button loads in depending whether a separate navigation button has been pressed -
i.e.
navigation buttons:
-motorbike pics
-car pics
-lorry pics
If a user clicked on "car pics" then the loading buttons 1 to 5 would load "car1.jpg", "car2.jpg" and so on...
similarly if the user clicked on "lorry pics", the same loading buttons 1 to 5 would load "lorry1.jpg" and "lorry2.jpg"
