I just started using Flash CS5 and whenever I publish something, the Flash winds up in the upper left corner of my browser. WTF?There's no code on the page that lets you "position" the Flash. I have no way of telling the Flash which div it belongs in. What's going on here?I've searched and searched and everything that talks about swfobject doesn't seem to address my problem.
View 4 RepliesI didn't find that my flash is larger than the browsering area on screen until I publish and preview it in my browser but I do want all the content to be displayed on the screen. All I need to do is to move everything up for about 150 px.(in other words, to shorten the stage by 150 from the top but I can only cut the stage from the bottom ) Is there a way I can change the position of the stage like what I can do to the artboard in AI?

View 4 RepliesI've been working in CS5, with an older FLA I originally built in CS3. On the timeline, I have different MCs and button symbols which need to stay in the same coordinate position. Usually if I notice some sort of 'wiggle', I will go and check the position coords by hand, updating the x/y position by typing numbers directly in the Properties panel.
However today, I repeatedly saw the coordinates change -by themselves- after I typed and hit Enter. For example, typing '165' in the Y field changed immediately to '164.95'. With one symbol, this behavior continued, no matter what I typed, with the number changing by 10 pixels sometimes, every time I just selected the symbol. Not only was I not able to keep the symbols at the same coords (I tried making them all 164.95), the 'automatic decimal' numbers would actually change further, as I was trying to correct them. I was only able to resolve this by creating an entirely new MC symbol in the Library, and placing it on a new timeline layer.
I've noticed this sort of behavior before in CS3 and CS4 (the CS4 Alpha slider never wanting to go to 0 or 100%), but never to this extent, or as consistently. It's gone from an annoyance to a genuine problem in my workflow.
How about make the Flash Player remember window position after exit? So that it opens in our preferred position everytime?

The trace's are because it didn't work like I thought it would.Etc the middle movieclip didn't center itself but rather positioned itself seemingly how it pleased so I traced its x position and the var stageXcenter position and like suspected it shows different values.
With the Flash Player that comes with CS3 and on my PC XP Pro laptop.I want the player controls to appear at the _bottom_ of the video not on top of the video and not under (behind) the video.
- my video is 640 x 480
- so I modified the "properties" tab at the bottom of the screen to 640x480... (it was 550x400)
- but that just makes everything larger when I click File > Publish
- and then look at the video in Internet Explorer... the Player Controls are still _On Top_ of the video.
I guess I need to learn how to
- Make the stage bigger
- Position the Player controls below the actual video
I've got a page with a very simple movie, it contains a text on some rows and an image.The text must be shown centered inside the page and must keep its aspect ratio if the browser is resized.The image mus be always placed at the bottom right corner of the window, not of the text area.
I can't obtain both of them, I can have the image always at the corner (placing it through AS3), but I have the text stretched when I resize the browser, or I can have the text always keeping its aspect ratio, but the image is not placed at the corner of the winwdow.I've also tried to have only the text on the movie and to place the image as html page's background, but the movie goes above the image and hides it.

It successfully gets the y value of bounceBall within the MC twn, and applies it to the y value of moveMC. How do I replace the 01 in bounceBall with the following global variable: globals.data.clk? I've tried using a way that Ned successfully showed me for a different situation, plus tried some other permutations, but Flash says "no way dude".
I have a AS2 netstream instance, in which I am loading various flv's into. The 'main' video has links to other visble when its playing. I want to be able to store the position of the flv (in seconds) so that when the user comes back to the 'main' video it remembers where it was and contiues to play. This is the code I have written so far regarding this (its probably massively wrong).

I was experimenting and finally got my "scrolling picture" test going. That is, a picture that can be scrolled around. I used the ScrollPane, also set the ScrollDrag to TRUE so you can drag the picture around, but no matter what I do, I can't get the Horizontal Scroll Bar, without the drag, people will no be able to scroll left to right and vise-versa. How can I include or make the Horizontal Scroll Bar to work / show? Also, is the a way to set the starting position of the picture ? For example, the initial display set to the center of the picture.

I'm developing my first flash app. I'm trying to use classes because they'll be very important in my future app. I created a simple movieclip with a star. However, instead of putting it directly on the stage, I'm calling it from library, using the addChild method to place the star in the stage. To do that, I simple right click over the movieclip icon->properties->check export to action script->and I give a name to the class (for example: myMC)
Then, inside the class I wrote:

As I am placing the two variables origin_x and origin_y inside the constructor, I'm expecting to get 250 and 200 respectively. After drop the star, I want to send it to it's original place, and that's why I need to keep this values. And here's the problem, origin_x and origin_y are both ZERO, instead of 250 and 200... The value is not relative to stage. I managed a little bit and I found this post : [URL]. Unfortunately I tried to replace by the suggested code, but both values remain zero. An interesting thing, is that if I put the star directly in the stage instead of calling it from the library as I am doing, I get correct values in origin_x and origin_y.
Is anyone else having trouble with the new tweening in CS4? Every time I enter a numeric value to position a movieclip it changes it! I'm getting very frustrated trying to do the simplist things - even when I move the clip manually it puts it back where it was. Am I missing something here?

Well, I have a movieClip as a container, and I would like dynamic textfields to populate this movieclip in the same manner as textStrings would populate the dynamic Textfield.
How would this work?I have buttons that trigger addChild() function so as to populate the movieclip with textfields, but how do I make sure that the textfields make up an arbitrary list as a menu user chooses which buttons to click?
Let's say this is the visible text when the swf runs.(I cut away some of the code to make this more to the point):

How do I control persistent visibility, and how do I make these textfields appear one after the other in the order they were clicked.
I trained on flashMX back in the day and haven't done anything since so now I've got CS5 it's a bit like being at school again! I have a circular dial sat in the middle of the screen with an arrow placed on it's edge. How do I get the dial to rotate so it always faces the mouse pointer?

View 2 RepliesI added a Menu_mc on my stage. Initially, this should be at the center of the stage and when I click on it, it will tween on the upper left corner of the browser. However, when I resize the browser, the Menu_mc goes back to the center of the screen.
I have tried separating a different actionscript file where it is specifically for initialization of the object and another one for resizing. And then when I call it on my main AS file it goes like this:

I am using a ScrollPane in my application(viz., instance name is: myScrollPane). When I view the contents of the ScrollPane, it shows them perfectly. My issue is: When I try to view data present inside the ScrollPane, if I move the Vertical-ScrollBar of the ScrollPane to middle(or somewhere from top to down) and then click on Submit button(viz., instance name is: submit_btn), then its Vertical ScrollPosition must be reset from middle(or any position where we leave it before) to top(or initial position). Hence, I need to move the Vertical ScrollPosition of ScrollPane to top (or) initial position. Everytime, I need to refresh the VerticalScrollBar Position when I click on the submit button. How to do it?
