Professional :: As Objects Change Position On Several Key Layers?

I have several objects, moveclip, graphics and shapes in several layers keys and want to change position, for example, a moveclip is in the position X: 218 Y:45 and so in other key layers,To change it to X: 240 Y: 50, I go to keyframe for keyframe touch the object and go to properties and change one by one is annoying.Is there any way to do this more quickly at one time in all key frames?

When I copy layers and edit the objects on stage, the objects also change in the other layer(s).
How do I duplicate a layer so that I can modify it with the objects in the old layer being unaffected? There must be a really easy way?

I am trying to copy frames from 6 different layers along with the objects (action script, tween motions, buttons, graphic elements) from one movieclip to another. But once I do that, everyhting seems to be shifted and if I try to reposition the items in the new clip, it seems like I would have to repeat after every keyframe for each layer.
So my question is A. Is there a way to duplicate a movie clip but give it a instance name (an entirely new movieclip with the same frames and layers in the same position as the previous)?
B. How can I move mutliple objects across layers and keyframes?

I have been tasked to create banner that has four mouseover areas. The main body of the banner--which includes hyperlinks--and the background of the entire banner must change as the user mouses over the four areas. See the diagrams at the following link (it is not working properly):I attempted to complete this task as follows, but it really isn't behaving properly. I created a layer of buttons and text, and set the alpha levels to 0 for the "over" state of each button. I then created four separate layers containing the appropriate content. When the user mouses over a button on the left, the proper layer would be displayed. I planned to use Actionscript to accomplish this; pseudocode here:
IF button1.mouseover == true THEN { display layer1, hide layers 2, 3, and 4 }
IF button2.mouseover == true THEN { display layer2, hide layers 1, 3, and 4 }
IF button3.mouseover == true THEN { display layer3, hide layers 1, 2, and 4 }

I have a script where i need an objects X and Y Position to change when you enter a certain frame.
On layer 1 i have an input text field with the instance of "message_txt" that runs along all 5 frames in the timeline.
On layer 2 i have 5 frames each with its own actionscript on. The user navigates between frames with simple 'gotoAndStop(4)' etc... on each next or back button.[code]...

This is for a personal art project, however I have hit a potential (Actionscript) brick wall! I want the diameter of the 'balls' orbit to change dependant on the position of the mouse but keep the point of rotation exactly the middle of the stage at all times. I.e. if the mouse is hovering over the exact center (both X+Y) of the stage then the 'ball' should have a tiny diameter of rotation (but contstantly follows the orbit in clockwise direction) whilst if you move the mouse towards the edge of the stage then the diameter of the orbit of the ball will increase. I am colorblind.I need to change either the color of the background or the color of the text on the layers section on the Timeline.I simply cannot read/see what is currently showing.It is a very light blue background with white text and white dots for seeing, locking, or setting the outline color.I need to either change the text color and dots to black so I can see them, or try to change the background color to a dark blue so I can read the white text.Changing the text color would really be my preference. Adobe hasn't been very concerned about colorblindness when developing these products. I can barely make out all the light grey/grey/dark grey/grey stuff.

I didn't find that my flash is larger than the browsering area on screen until I publish and preview it in my browser but I do want all the content to be displayed on the screen. All I need to do is to move everything up for about 150 px.(in other words, to shorten the stage by 150 from the top but I can only cut the stage from the bottom ) Is there a way I can change the position of the stage like what I can do to the artboard in AI?

I've been working in CS5, with an older FLA I originally built in CS3. On the timeline, I have different MCs and button symbols which need to stay in the same coordinate position. Usually if I notice some sort of 'wiggle', I will go and check the position coords by hand, updating the x/y position by typing numbers directly in the Properties panel.
However today, I repeatedly saw the coordinates change -by themselves- after I typed and hit Enter. For example, typing '165' in the Y field changed immediately to '164.95'. With one symbol, this behavior continued, no matter what I typed, with the number changing by 10 pixels sometimes, every time I just selected the symbol. Not only was I not able to keep the symbols at the same coords (I tried making them all 164.95), the 'automatic decimal' numbers would actually change further, as I was trying to correct them. I was only able to resolve this by creating an entirely new MC symbol in the Library, and placing it on a new timeline layer.
I've noticed this sort of behavior before in CS3 and CS4 (the CS4 Alpha slider never wanting to go to 0 or 100%), but never to this extent, or as consistently. It's gone from an annoyance to a genuine problem in my workflow.

Im new to flash and doing my best to teach myself.Im using CS3.I've already been working on this project for a while, and I don't know why this is all of the sudden happening.I have a text graphic that I want to create a motion tween with.I created a new layer for it, and drug it to the stage.If I tested the movie at that point, it looked fine and didn't move. If I tried to move the original keyframe, or added a motion tween, it would look fine when I played it on the stage, but when I go to "test movie", its either not on the screen at all, or its in a totally different position.

I have not got to Action Script 3 yet, but I intend to. I am trying to animate two objects (they are single digits) on different layers. They are the only things on their respective layer. The first object animates just fine. When I add the second object (to its own layer), I can view it as long as the cursor remains in text mode, but just as soon as I try to convert to a symbol, it disappears from the screen(just like it is invisible). There is no way to motion tween it. But when test out the movie clip, I get the first object moving as it should, but the second one just sits there(as text) where I created it.
And ... I get the following error message.
Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts.
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.text::TextField@30a8c101 to flash.display.MovieClip. at flash.display::Sprite/constructChildren() at flash.display::Sprite() at flash.display::MovieClip() at Untitled_fla::MainTimeline()
What should I do? I need two objects to move simultaneously and independently. Both objects are dynamic digits.

im having trouble figuring out the difference between the layers on the time line and the dept of object that can be manipulated by actionscript.in a single layer there can be many objects but in actionscript at specific dept you can manipulate just one object using function such as setchildindex() .so in a movie clip where there are several objects in a single layer how can you access and change their depth as in bring them to front or put them to the bottom

is there a way to have (the postion of) objects be dependant of another one? I have attached a simple .fla file with two boxes (MovieClips) that grow in height. Since the position of the bottom box is constant, the top box soon expands "into" the one below so that parts of it are hidden. What I want is that the gap between those two objects stays constant (in this case 50px). So, is there any way to make the position of one object dependant on (the size of) another? Or is there any other "workaround"/tip you can give me?

I don't understand how it's possible to have a lot of objects on the stage and be able to manage the motion tweens with all of them, but ALSO manage which objects are in front and which are in back of each other. I have a military type animation and there is a lot of action going on, and there are times where I need some of my guys to be in front of objects, and times when they need to be behind.
I don't know how to manage the objects in regards to layers and motions in a way so I can get the objects in the order I need them to be (like which item goes in front of the other).
Does anyone have any tips or a way that I can manage my objects and motions and be able to sort them on the stage so that I can arrange the objects how I need them to be in regards to placement and which should be in front of other objects?

if there is an option to refer to a layer as a named object. so if I have a layer named 'myLayer' I can to control about the alpha amount, for instance, of all the objects (symbols, movieclips etc.) that inside this layer or to move all those objects together as a one unit by some pixels.

I have create the "snow" effect with the linked tutorial, basically it manipulates the instance of an object on the canvas and calls the script in the actions on the animation load.However, I cant get the generated snow to show behind any other objects on the canvas.

I'm new to the whole flash thing and I'm learning on flash 8 - In photoshop you can group layers so that the blending mode you use on a layer will only apply to the layers in that group... I've been searching all over, and maybe it's right in front of me, but does flash have a way of isolating the selected blending mode to just the layers or objects of the user's choice?

I currently have a scene in Flash CS4 that consists of an image layer1 (converted to a motion tween), image layer2 (converted to a motion tween), an actionscript 3.0 layer, and a hotspot layer. Let's say the animation is 10 frames long for simplicity. At frame1 I want the visibility of image layer 1 turned on and the visiblity of image layer 2 off. Then, I want to spin image layer 1 and 2 simaltaneously (I know how to do this with motion tweens of course) but mid-spin, say at Frame 5, I wish to turn on the visiblity of image layer 2 and turn off the visibility of image layer 1.
How do i change the visiblity properties of my image layers with actionscipt? I assume there is a class I need to load and then change the properties of the image layers in the actionscript layer at the corresponding frames I wish those properties to change.

I'm using a really simple bit of code on some fading in/out buttons which overlap each other slightly to ensure that the one with the cursor resting over it sits in front of the others:[code]problem being that this brings the button in front of everything across all layers. How do I change my swapdepths to make sure the layers above the buttons STAY above? - or do I need to add something to the other layers to give them a fixed 'depth'?

What I have is a game with a Level object, inside the Level is a Player object, and they don't have instance names given, what I'm trying to figure out is how to do is make it so that the player can change the x or y properties of the Level object.
To be more precise, I'm making it so that when the player moves in a certain direction, he either moves accross the stage, or he starts moving the Level object around the stage, it'd be in an Event kind of function, now I can easily make the Player move, but I don't know how to make the Level object move which the player is inside of.

If I have several items that move across the screen but the user can click any of them at any time, how do I record the current position of any of the items item in order to use that data to change the position of the item after the user clicks?
This is what I am doing: I have 11 images that slide accross the screen. The user can click any of them at any time. When he clicks one I am scaling the image so it looks like it is comming forward (z axis) and then the rest of the images are scaled down so it looks like they are going back on z axis. So what I am trying to do is get the current position of the image when the user clicks the image so that I can use that to correctly estimate the scaling and moving of the image to make it look like it scales from the center and not from the top left corner. So if have a variable that gets the current position of the image being clicked I'm thinking I can change its position using something like: x = currentposition + -45;

[URL] Theres the example to work with....anyway....as you can see, im loading in movies externally...each on its OWN different level....what i want to do is make it so that when i click a menu option on the left, the current swf loaded on the stage closes and the new one comes up (to avoid the clutter of 10 differnt windows all scattered).....here are my thoughts:
1. have variables on the root timeline that are basically "currentLoaded" and "currentLevel" -- which basically will store the name of the currently loaded swf and the level that its on.
2. each swf would have code on frame one that would see if the 'currentLoaded' varible is blank, and if not...it will close the current loaded swf ....
my dilemma is that i dont know how to change the level dynamically...i know you could do the instance name like this:

has anybody a solution to this "Distribute to layers" - Bug. Every time i try to use this feature, flash is prompting a failure. As an animator, i am used to use this all the time. if i dont get this fixed, cs4 is worthless to me.
