If I have an FLV that I've output as SWF with skin to have embedded into an HTML page, and now a 'skip intro' is needed - though I'd have to make note of the actual time or keyframe in which the intro completes...How is this possible? Clearly, a button would need to be added for that kind of interactivity?

Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual.  I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
 
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html).  I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression).  Nothing fancy.  Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
 
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own.  I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

I have an input text box where users enter search words and whenever you hit enter it clears the contents.This is obvioulsy annoying as users would expect to hit enter after they have typed the word(s) and have the search performed, not have what they typed removed.How do I stop this?How do I assign the event listener I have on my submit button to the enter key as well?

I'm trying to create a type of news flash file with four panels, each with a different coloured background and diferent text (from xml file).  Each panel will show for say 4 seconds.  My flash file has four layers, each with a different coloured background, and following each other on timeline to create one movie.  The actionscript is stopping at the end of the 1st layer on the timeline, so only the first panel is showing text from the xml file, but not the other three.

I'm trying to stop my flash animation at a certain frame (allowing the person to click a button to go to another page).When I instert the stop code on a keyframe on my actions layer at the specified frame I want it to stop at it simply keeps looping my movie. The second problem I'm having is making my menu bar like you would see and use on a website.You click the Home button and it goes to the home page.

I have created a SWF file using a class I created as the main class for the swf. this swf is a movieclip with a frame labeld "open" and a stop action at the last frame the main class of the SWF:[code]the problem is when I run the open function, after loading the swf it doesn't stop at the last frame. in fact it does not stop in any of theframes that have stop action in them. So far what i figured out is that if don't convert the content to PageSwf, and put it in a genereal variable and the run the open function it works just fine.[code]

I have a website in Flash CS4. When testing the movie, my swf file plays. When I access another menu button, the movie still plays and you still hear the sound. I have the skin where the user can stop the movie before going to other pages in the site but my Question is: How can I get the movie to stop playing if another menu button is clicked? I ask because when I go to another page and come back, the video is not showing but I still hear the audio.

I am using flash 8 and I have succeeded so far in loading variables from a text file that contains around 20 lines and have the variables displayed in texboxes. The problem is that it goes directly to the last line and displays those variables. I need it to read the first line only and stop so I can add a "next" and "previous" buttons and be able to navigate through the database.

I coded a dynamic SWF player that loads Movie containing SWFs at random (and that part works fine). But what I dont know how to do, or if it is even possible to do, is to have the next movie SWF load after the first movie SWF is completed playing it's movie all the way through.

I guess what I'm asking is, is there anyway in AS3 to add an Event Listener to the SWF so that is executes the needed function after the movie in the SWF has finished playing??

because I'm not sure how to do this, I have found a workaround by adding a Timer to the functions that actually load (addChild(movie1) the SWFs, the timer counts the exact time it takes the movie in the SWF to finish to then load the nest SWF. The problem with this work around is that if the SWF has a player component and someone actually pauses the movie the Timer will still execute the function in the specified Time given.

I have a button on frame 1 that, when pressed advances to frame 2. On frame 2, there is an animated symbol that starts playing right as you get to the frame. I want this to play once, and then advane to frame 3, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it? have built a quiz that uses startdrag & stopdrag where the user drags the right answer (a MovieClip) and drops on the question (a Movieclip). I want to load and addChild an external SWF when they have completed all 6 questions correctly but am not sure how to code a function/listener that identifies when all have been dropped in the right place.I am trying to use an If statement in a function with multiple conditions & an event listener but can't seem to get anything to make sense.Code I used for drag/drop is below x6, each mcquestionx6 drops in different coordinates.

Actionscript 3.0 :: External Swf Plays Before Preloader Completes?

My external .swf is playing before it's even finished loading from the COMPLETE event. W

I can understand it might work like streaming an mp3 or something... but it's not like anyone can see the first parts of the loading movie while the preloader does its thing. I also want this to be automatic... so I can avoid having the user click to enter or click to start after the preloader is complete. Lastly, the loading .swf has stop() on frame one...

I want it to while still easing into place like the iphone does. For example my stage is 550px. The drag and throw MC is 1650. That's 550x3. If the first image is showing starting at x axis 0 and you drag to the left it will ease into place stopping and showing the second image stopping the image at x axis 0. And the same thing scrolling to the next one and scrolling back. So the code is below and I've attached the movie that I'm working on.

I have an external preloader that plays music while the main swf is loading. Everything works fine but it sounds a little abrupt when the music just stops as soon as the swf is loaded. I am trying to create a game that has a sound player.I have created an array of 6 sounds each sound lasting 20 seconds.I can click on the next sound button to cycle through 6 sounds.The idea is that the player must guess what the sound is before the sound completes playing.Once the sound is complete a graphic appear telling the player what the sound is.The player would then click the next sound button, this would cause the current graphic to disappear,when the next sound completes a second graphic will appear.At the moment the sound side of the game is complete.I have create an array similar to the sounds array containing each of the 6 graphics.The code I have allows the first graphic to appear when the first sound completes,and when the next sound button is pressed that graphic disappears. how to display the next 5 graphics as each of the next sounds complete.I have cycled through each of the sounds in the sounds array,I have given each of the graphics a name in the linkage box, although I can only get that first graphic to appear and disappear when it has been dragged into the stage and given the instance name "image1"![code]
