ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading SWF After Another SWF Completes?

I coded a dynamic SWF player that loads Movie containing SWFs at random (and that part works fine). But what I dont know how to do, or if it is even possible to do, is to have the next movie SWF load after the first movie SWF is completed playing it's movie all the way through.

I guess what I'm asking is, is there anyway in AS3 to add an Event Listener to the SWF so that is executes the needed function after the movie in the SWF has finished playing??

because I'm not sure how to do this, I have found a workaround by adding a Timer to the functions that actually load (addChild(movie1) the SWFs, the timer counts the exact time it takes the movie in the SWF to finish to then load the nest SWF. The problem with this work around is that if the SWF has a player component and someone actually pauses the movie the Timer will still execute the function in the specified Time given.

I have an external preloader that plays music while the main swf is loading. Everything works fine but it sounds a little abrupt when the music just stops as soon as the swf is loaded. Is there a way to start fading out the music when the progress bar gets to, say, 80%, so that by the time the main swf opens, the music is completely faded out?

I have a button on frame 1 that, when pressed advances to frame 2. On frame 2, there is an animated symbol that starts playing right as you get to the frame. I want this to play once, and then advane to frame 3, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it? Please help, all it does now is loop continuously on frame 2, and I can't figure out how to advance to frame 3.

have built a quiz that uses startdrag & stopdrag where the user drags the right answer (a MovieClip) and drops on the question (a Movieclip). I want to load and addChild an external SWF when they have completed all 6 questions correctly but am not sure how to code a function/listener that identifies when all have been dropped in the right place.I am trying to use an If statement in a function with multiple conditions & an event listener but can't seem to get anything to make sense.Code I used for drag/drop is below x6, each mcquestionx6 drops in different coordinates.

My external .swf is playing before it's even finished loading from the COMPLETE event. W

I can understand it might work like streaming an mp3 or something... but it's not like anyone can see the first parts of the loading movie while the preloader does its thing. I also want this to be automatic... so I can avoid having the user click to enter or click to start after the preloader is complete. Lastly, the loading .swf has stop() on frame one...

I am trying to create a game that has a sound player.I have created an array of 6 sounds each sound lasting 20 seconds.I can click on the next sound button to cycle through 6 sounds.The idea is that the player must guess what the sound is before the sound completes playing.Once the sound is complete a graphic appear telling the player what the sound is.The player would then click the next sound button, this would cause the current graphic to disappear,when the next sound completes a second graphic will appear.At the moment the sound side of the game is complete.I have create an array similar to the sounds array containing each of the 6 graphics.The code I have allows the first graphic to appear when the first sound completes,and when the next sound button is pressed that graphic disappears. how to display the next 5 graphics as each of the next sounds complete.I have cycled through each of the sounds in the sounds array,I have given each of the graphics a name in the linkage box, although I can only get that first graphic to appear and disappear when it has been dragged into the stage and given the instance name "image1"![code]

I just followed Lee Brimelow's 'Preloading in Actionscript 3.0' tut - it was easy to follow and implement. However, when I upload my files to my webserver to test, the .swf that I'm loading begins to play before the preloader completes. Actually, to be precise, the main swf has an audio file in the background that begins before the preloader completes. The stage of the main swf doesn't appear until the preloader completes. Prior to this, I was using a 'scenes' method of preloading, that didn't have this problem, but I kept running into a 1009 error, so thought I'd try a different method...

Here is the actionscript for my preloader:

Flash - Make A Flex/AIR Scroller With An HGroup "snap" To Each Item When Scrolling Completes?

I'm developing an app for ANDROID devices using Flash Builder Burrito and am having trouble figuring out how to accomplish one aspect of my app.I have an HGroup inside of a Scroller. The HGroup has images that are 400px in width and I have the width of each HGroup column set to 400px. Although the number of items is dynamic, assume I have 10 images in the HGroup. The width of the Scroller and Viewport is set to 400px.

So far so good -- the user can see a single image within the scroller. The user can then scroll left or right using touch or mouse and see each image. But here's where I'm stuck. I want to make it so that when the user STOPS scrolling the scroller then "snaps" an image into view. In other words, I don't want half of one image and half of another image in the viewport.

Seems pretty straightforward but I can't figure it out. Part of the issue is that there doesn't seem to be an event to use for this purpose. I know I can hook in to PropertyChangeEvent.PROPERTY_CHANGE or MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP/TouchEvent.TOUCH_END (which is what I'm doing now) but that event doesn't really give me what I need.

I really need an event that fires when the user releases the mouse as part of the scroll or lifts their finger off the device as part of the scroll. And then I need to wait for the scroll to stop. For example, if I do a really fast swipe I need to wait for the scroller to stop or almost stop before I perform the snap. The event fires as soon as I let go of the mouse or take my finger off the tablet, so if I alter the horizontal scroll pos then it gets overwritten by the "slowing down of the scroller".

By the way, I know I can use modulus logic to show each image "whole". That's not where I'm stuck -- I'm stuck at which event to use to know WHEN to perform this mod logic.

Note that what I've already developed works just fine if I slowly scroll and then let off the mouse. It's only when you slide more rapidly that it ceases to work.

Using FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?

It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?

Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.

I have a game built and I would like to reduce the loading time to the minimum possible.One of my ideas is to load the essential assets and some lower quality images the first time, leaving the higher quality images and some of the functionality out at first (for instance things like buttons that change the background color), and once the player enters the game, the rest of the functionality and its assets (images and sounds) will be loading in the background using the Loader class.So once the non-essential assets and the high quality images have loaded they will fade in and substitue the lower quality assets in the most subtle way possible.

Also... Would it be better to have various instances of a "Loader" class and try to load everything at once, or load stuff in order with a single instance of the "loader" class listening to the Event.COMPLETE event ?

I have a movieclip clip that plays when the movie starts, the movieclip is a visual assets that show's that the application is loading some information but it's not showing any loading progress, just playing while the assets are loaded.I created a for loop that will load the assets using a simple loader, and then when the object is loaded the application push the object to an array.Problem is that when the loading starts all the animation that i have on screen stops until the loading is finished.The whole point is that the animation will play while it's loading.

I want to have an AS3 app load images from url supplied by the user. But I don't want a malicious user to be able to load an SWF file in place of the image, such as with an altered extension "maliciousSwf.png". Well, not sure how big a security threat that is above and beyond the ability of the hacker to decompile swf, but I think that ideally such behavior should not be allowed.

So, is there any way to prevent this? When people allow users to load images in their Flash apps, do they somehow guard against loading of SWF? Or is this really absolutely no big deal?

How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.

I'm building a flash website which uses a google map for a contact section and another one generated via external class for a projects section (for each one of the projects available there will be generated a map and a marker).This website uses SWFAddress and each of the projects receive SWFAddress dynamicaly via xml, pulling in the name of the project.The problem is when I test the website localy, on Flash IDE both the maps are loaded fine, but once I try it online on a webserver just the map on contact section is being loaded.I've tried to use a different key for each other -the contact section map key based on an url.Does anyone know what the problem might be?
