I have several FLVs on a frame, and I want to use AS 3.0 to set the bitrate to different numbers by using actions on different frames.
The instance name of the flv is "demo", and my code currently specifies:
demo.bitrate = 0;
This does not seem to be stopping the download, which is what I am attempting to do. How do you properly script a specific bit rate?
I have built an application that plays videos from the local computer.I am using the FlvPlayback Component. If I play a number of videos in a row(program has about 70), the memory usage on my computer goes to a level where my video is getting slowed down, audio becomes choppy, etc.It seems that when the new video gets loaded, the cached information from the previous video does not get cleared. Could this be and is there a way to clear this out on load of the next video?

View 4 RepliesI have a problem understanding the bitrate settings when trying to encode an FLV for Flash 8 or higher, using two passes. When you choose to use two passes, you are presented with a bunch of different options, including "Minimum Bitrate [%target]", "Maximum Bitrate [%target]", and "Bitrate Variability [%target]". These are not really explained properly in the online manuals I've seen out there. Let's say you want to have a Costant bitrate (CBR) of 900 kbps, and you want to have two encoding passes, what do you set the other sliders to?
The defaults are:
Minimum Bitrate [%target] 80
Maximum Bitrate [%target] 120
Bitrate Variability [%target] 80
is it possible to receive live stream at bitrate lower than that which video is being recorded with? How to accomplish that? I know that play2 from NetStream class allows to switch between recorded videos at different bitrates, but what about live content? I cannot simply set bandwidth to lower using FMS because i need to be sure that framerate won't be affected, and there are also other simultaneous streams playing .
View 3 Replieswe are using RTMP with Flowplayer with dynamic bitrate switching and I'm a bit confused on the bitrate (kbps) that is called out in the code in order to configure the bandwidth check. I presume that this is the target bitrate if encoding using ABR or constant. How about for the rest of us that are using CRF? My understanding is that CRF is the way to go now for H264 (don't want to hijack the thread to a CRF vs ABR discussion). If we are using CRF, can we guess on the target bitrate that is called out in the bwcheck plugin?

It converted it OK, but made quite a large file.Is it possible to produce a file of lower size and quality.Is there a bit-rate setting somewhere?(We have some people outside the US in developing countries who don't have such a good connection.Whats about the lowest you would go in terms of quality / bitrate?)

I am using Amazon's CloudFront to deliver streaming video using Adobe's Flash Media Server. I want the video to dynamically adjust it's bitrate based on the speed of the client's connection. Supposedly this is pretty straight forward using the FLVPlayback component. The thing is that the Dynamic Stream should start with the lowest quality video and then automatically adjust upward based on the connection speed of the client. For me, testing on a localhost, it is starting at a stream rate it cannot handle. I don't think it is moving down streams either.
View 2 RepliesI have FMIS 3.5.I've installed it with pretty much all the default values.I haven't changed any of the settings in either the LIVE or the VOD applications.Dynamic Bitrate Switching is working well for VOD, but not working at all for LIVE streams.Doing a regular bandwidth detection on both the LIVE and the VOD applications give similar, high bandwidth results. However, the LIVE application NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is showing a very low bandwidth capability of around maxBytesPerSecond = 19016, where as for the VOD its achieving around 637110.I can play a single LIVE stream of a high quality smoothly without any error.
I don't know if this is relevent but I'm getting some error messages occassionally in the log of the live application saying : Dropping application (live/_definst_) message. Clients not allowed to broadcast message.These messages aren't consistent, and don't coincide with trying to use bitrate switching.I have tried downloading the Adobe sample StreamSwitching. fla and it won't play the LIVE streams at all.Using the opensource Longtail Video player it just always defaults to the lowest stream.Here is an example: http:[url]....
I am running a website similar to Ustream and Justin and i am using Linux dedicated server, that have FMS 3.5 Installed. On My site registered broadcasters can stream their live video.
I want to know how can i limit the broadcasters so that they cannot broadcast a live video more then 512bitrate in their encoder.
currently any broadcaster can broadcast a live channel at any bitrate he wants and that is consuming too much of my server's bandwidth.
Is there a way to get multi-bitrate playback working with progessive playback without having to download all versions of the file? People all coming up with all kinds of cool ways to make progressive feel like streaming.
View 1 RepliesWe are successfully using Captivate 4 to create SWF files leveraging a Flash Streaming Media Server hosted on a CDN.My question is, does anyone know how to leverage the dynamic streaming / adaptive bitrate feature in FMS 3.5 with a Captivate file? I have spent an entire day searching all over Adobe forums and am surprised to see this is not documented ANYWHERE and given Captivate REQUIRES FMS to stream, it would be incredibly poor design if it cannot leverage the best feature FMS has to offer!
We publish to Flash Player 10, and while FP 10 IS compatible with dynamic streaming, my challenge is Captivate only allows one URI path and one stream name.To deliver dynamic streaming you have to have several files with different encode rates availalbe. But if Captivate only allows one stream name,how do you point it to a stream that finds all the alternative files? I've explored this with 3 different CDNs and they don't know how to do it(Limelight, CDNetworks and Internap)

View 1 RepliesI'm using the Niagara 4100 streaming appliance to encode a live multiple bitrate streams for an event. The problem is the Niagara encoder doesn't allow me to attach an event name to the stream url like - 'streamevent%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent', instead it only allows 'streamevent%i'. So in the end I get three seperate events with a stream for each event.
Like so:

I am passing to the source property of a VideoDisplay component a DynamicStreamingVideoSource object with 3 different dynamic live stream items, described by this XML, for your consideration:

But the player then runs the stream with the lowest bitrate, out of those 3. Wasn't it supposed to go for the stream with the highest bitrate, that is viewable by the end-user? All 3 streams have been individually tested and they are all viewable.
So far , I only found tutorials on control these attributes while publishing the stream
View 15 RepliesI'm trying to setup a server-side playlist for playing back mp3 files, though I stumble into a weird FMS behaviour. I'm using latest FMS 4.0.2 Here is how I try to publish the stream (Server-side ActionScript):

On the client side, I try to play it using NetStream.play("boo"). Though, the sound quality I get is really weird. The sound goes slower and faster and stops for a split of a second. It may play properly for a couple of seconds, but that's all. Sounds like a decoder problem to me, or a bitrate conversion problem. When I play the stream with NetStream.play("mp3:rhcp") the playback goes smoothly. I've tried several mp3 files with different bitrates, but they all have the same problem.
For some reason I am unable to create a FLV file from a MP4 file with high bitrate. I even created a custom setting and specified bitrate as 2500 but the output file is always around 775.

The above code is on a blank keyframe. Changepage1 is the start of the animation and Changepage2 is the end of the animation.
Upon clicking the navigation button it plays the above scenes.
However it doesn't change scenes to scene "Home2".

This is a snippet of some code I'm working on. Currently I have a mc that you press that plays another mc. That mc that reacts has 5 frames, each frame with stop(); on each frame. I do a normal play code because it lets me play through and cycle back to frame 1 after frame 5 (so if I click the mc it eventually cycles back to the first frame and starts the process over again). If I do a nextframe it stops at frame 5, so that's why I use play.
press_mc click on it and it tells mover2_mc to advance a frame and recycles back to frame one to redo the process.Can I tell press_mc to play and skip a frame or to have it play a list of frames that I tell? I can't do a _currentframe +2 because it'll halt at frame 5.
Just finally making the transition from AS2 to AS3.All i need to do at this point is make two buttons which will control the movie to goto next frame and previous frame. I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.
