How would I change/specify the endpoint URL at runtime in a Flex App which communicates with PHP?I always used a services-config.xml so far.
I tried to overwrite the endpoint in the mxml Remote Object, with no success.
I've created a symbol and motion tween and given an instance name to the tween (lets call it mt1) on Layer 1, frame 1 - frame 10. On layer 2, frame 1 I create a button and stop and add the MouseEvent hander and function. Can I, from the function on layer 2, alter the end point of the motion tween on layer 1 via the function? I've tried, but unsuccessfully. Can't seem to access the tween properly. Or I am way off base. Here's the Actionscript frame 1, layer 2:

I'm trying to get a better understanding of how endpoints work. I've read this and have learned that the services.config is "baked" into the swf at compile time. In that article he references the tokens.[URL]..
where server.port, and context.root are the tokens. I guess what I'm wondering is what tokens are available to me, and if they act like variables can I set my own custom token?
Edit: We're moving to another development server soon. We have 2 main flex developers and when they check out projects from the repository we want their projects work work independently of each other... so I want to make sure the endpoint will get set correctly for each developers project location.
I'm using a binary socket to talk to a server and it works fine the first time I send data. Then I receive data from the server and send a response but it's never received... like the connection closed or something. I have an event handler on the socket close event, but it doesn't fire. I can trace to the socket sending data, but if I trap the data received event on the server, nothing is received.. like it's closed the socket. Is there something I need to reset or have I missed a key concept in binary sockets?
View 2 RepliesI've been working with Zend Amf for few months and everything is fine on my localserver (and was fine on my test server hosted by dreamhost) until recently. Now every time I try to access the gateway via the URL (i.e. http://hostname/gateway/) instead of the 'Zend AMF endpoint' message should be getting, the browser simply prompts me to download an application/x-amf file.
I have checked my code for any leading or trailing spaces (made sure all my PHP didn't have an endtag).Checked the PHP version..it's 5.2..updated Zend to 1.10.7. I was hoping that this wasn't interfering with my remote flash calls but that doesn't seem to be working as well. Flex doesn't even report a fault code.
Is there any specific PHP settings I should be checking?

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?
I'm trying to build a flex project, linking it to some RLSs. When setting up the project in Flex Builder, the corresponding "build configuration" (that I got by adding -dump-config to the compiler options) generates (among other things) a tag like this :

Anyone know how to change a single instance of an item renderer for a Flex tree item at runtime? To reiterate, I'm not trying to change the entire tree's item renderer like this:tree.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);I'm trying to change the item renderer of a single tree item like this (the following code does not work):tree.selectedItem.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);To put it more simply, does anyone know how to reference an instance of an item renderer and set it to a new item renderer class? What is the URL that Flex 4 uses to download RSLs at runtime? I want to check if I have access to this URL and that it is not blocked by the proxy that I am behind and would like to be able to put the URL into a browser to do this.Obviously there are many URLs (one for each swz file), but does anyone know what the basic URL pattern is, or can anyone give me a sample URL?

One of the questions I have at the moment is, considering that SWF files can be run by either Adobe Flash Player OR Adobe AIR, what's the real difference between the two runtime environments? What API's and Objects exist in one environment, but not the other?
Basically what I'm more or less trying to establish is, when would I want to develop an SWF for AIR, and when would I want to develop for Flash Player, considering that Flash Player can also execute locally (providing support for creating "desktop applications")

In panel_Create their are functions to create panels at runtime. The problem i am facing is when i run the program it wont show the panels but it does increase the value of n and after 8 clicks it gives alert message. I am trying to duplicate a flex component at run time. For example if I have this:

I should be able to call a function called DuplicateComponent() and it should return me a UI component thts exactly same as above button including the event listeners with it.
I have a css that defines de skin-class for a custom component, like this :
