I have a flash file that I want to embed on a webpage, however, I want it to load when the user clicks on it (which will run the preloader) - (like clicking play on a youtube video)It's one flash file that loads in XML data and is graphically heavy.I'm not sure if the only way to do it is to load the flash file through another swf, i.e., flash container -> click flash container to load flash file with preloader.

I have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?

The images are uploaded with an html form onto the server and their path names are loaded into a .txt file for my flash AS to use.The problem I am having seems to be either server lag or browser issues (catching perhaps?).I manage my content via the CMS and once returning to the flash movie it is either old content, half working or just doesn't work, period.What is interesting is that once I locate the text file and view/refresh it manually, it works 100% fine. Now, it's obviously not a very useful set up if I have to manually refresh my txt files so is there a way, (php?, Java? etc?) to refresh these files?
View 5 RepliesWeirdness today while trying to get Flash to load some external content (PHP, XML and images). It works fine in everything except Firefox on a PC (Even in IE! What a world! But I digress...). I've got a SWF that loads an external PHP file, along with an external XML file, which in turn references external images to be loaded. When I look at the Net panel in Firebug, it's showing that the SWF is loading, but none of the other external files are getting pulled. Anybody know why? View 1 Repliesi want the .SWF file to be opened but not donwloaded until a button is pressed but don't know ho to do that..on frame 1 i have an object (movieclip) that consists of a logo with a blur effect.. after 1-2 seconds the blur effect goes away and you can see the logo. the logo itself is a button that send's the user to the next frame in the main scene.on frame 2 of the main scene i have a preloader that shows the percentage of the loaded page and a progress bar .. everything works great
the problem is that when you open the swf it starts downloading the hole flash site and when you press enter the site is already loaded and you can't see the progress bar of the preloader..i want only the 1 frame of the main scene to be loded, then i want i to stop loading (downloading) the SWF file until enter is pressed.when enter is pressed i want the flash site to be loaded and so you can see the preloader in action..can i put some code on the action layer on the 1 frame that stops loading the movie (the first frame is loaded and the blur effect of the logo plays).and another code on the second frame (where the preloader is visible) that starts the donwloading again?
Imagine I have a flash mp3 player and when the page loads the player starts to play a song. So while flash is downloading the mp3 file the browser reports the page like it's still loading. Which I understand, there are still active downloads. But a client wants me to somehow tell the browser not to show this progress (like the circle in chrome) for the files the player downloads.

It works well, a main movie loading in all the component parts, to keep the overall filesize down.Except this seems to cause me a problem: the animation sits in a normal html page, which has links to other pages. As the animation loads in, the little percentage checker ticking away in the corner, it is either impossible or at best slow whenever you click on any of the html links. It wants to keep loading the bits in rather than stop and do what the browser wants.IS there anyway of forcing the flash animation to stop loading?I notice on macromedia's site that most of there navigation is controlled by other flash movies, rather than html links, altho the html links do seem to interrupt the main animatin loading and then navigating on.

View 1 RepliesI have two xmls, xml1 and xml2. Both have same structure, only data are different. Button 1 loads xml1 and button2 loads xml2. Both calls same function to load XML. First i press button1, so xml1 starts loading, but if before xml1 is completely loaded, i press button2, xml2 also starts loading. If for some reason the xml2 loads first i get data from xml2. But when i look at the bandwidth profiler in flash , xml1 is still loading. When xml1 is loaded it will replace data from xml2. SInce i pressed button2 last, i would want data from xml2. So is it possible to stop loading the previous xml when i start loading another xml?
View 1 RepliesI just tested out my site in Firefox and IE. Everything works the way I want it to in Firefox but in IE I'm having trouble. When I click on a button my preloader shows up but doesn't stop to load the content, it plays straight through and then my movie pops up. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I've never encountered this problem before.

I have created a movie clip button but am stuck with the actionscript. I have created the rollover and rollout for this movie clip button but i want it to do 2 things after this i want it to go and stop on the first frame of a movieclip which has my content on it called portfoliogallery_mc (which is also the same instance name for it) when you then click the button i want it to go and play frame 11 of that movie clip portfolio gallery_mc. Here is my current actionscript i HAVE Flash 8 on my comp that i am currently using. I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

I removed and installed already several flashplayer versions, but always the same error.When we copy the artifacts that are compiled on my machine somewhere and somebody else opens it on his machine it works.
how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.

I have a SWF-Movie written in AS2(I call it AS2-Bridge), which loads another SWF2-Movie. Now if I run the AS2_Bridge.swf everything works fine.But if I load the as2_bridge into the as3-movie - then the as2_bridge fails to load the other content.[code]
View 3 RepliesI'm loading content through an XML file. Most of the content is working correctly. Flash is creating buttons based on some of the content in the XML file, the rest of the content in the XML file is static text and images.
Everything at first loads fine, the buttons all work, they change the text values but for the life of me I can't figure out why its not changing the image. I tried to create a function to remove the first image then load the new one but that didn't work.

I have a loader, and it doesn't seem to be loading my content when I am viewing it on my website. However, when I open up my loader.swf in a browser, it loads up my content once it is done loading.

This is really weird and I have no idea what could be causing this.I have this simple Flash site:
http:[url]....The main interface is loaded, and then it starts to preload a few external JPG images.The problem is that with IE it is taking about FOUR times (or even more) the time to load the same pictures with FF. In a slow connection such as a 128K the main interface takes the same time to load either on FF aswel IE - about 5-10 seconds. Then, it starts loading the external pictures - in FF it will take about 20 seconds more and in IE it will take about 80 seconds more. It is clear to me that the problem is not in the site loading itself, but in the contents loading. I can't see what in the browser could be interfering in the SWF, unless that the IE Flash plugin have some known (or unknown!) bug regarding to MovieClipLoader!
The only thing I can have in mind, is that I am not terminating the listeners in the onLoadComplete events, so theoretically they would be keeping the CPU busy even after the pictures finish to load (I spawn about 30 listeners, one for each picture). However, I doubt that this is the reason or else it would make FF slow down too, indeed? Also I noticed that when running the application in the authoring environment (control+ENTER) but loading contents from remote server, it have the same behavior as when loaded within IE (slow loading).
