ActionScript 2.0 :: Forcing The Flash Animation To Stop Loading?

May 30, 2003

I have created an opening animation for the webpage. It works well, a main movie loading in all the component parts, to keep the overall filesize down.Except this seems to cause me a problem: the animation sits in a normal html page, which has links to other pages. As the animation loads in, the little percentage checker ticking away in the corner, it is either impossible or at best slow whenever you click on any of the html links. It wants to keep loading the bits in rather than stop and do what the browser wants.IS there anyway of forcing the flash animation to stop loading?I notice on macromedia's site that most of there navigation is controlled by other flash movies, rather than html links, altho the html links do seem to interrupt the main animatin loading and then navigating on.

Cannot Stop A Flash Animation On The Last Frame (instead Of First)?

Oct 20, 2011

I am new to Flash and cannot get an FLA animation to stop on the last frame. I have inserted a blank keyframe with a "stop()" command, but this command stops the animation on a blank white frame (presumably the first frame of the animation).I am working with a rebuilt FLA file (i.e., decompiled SWF file) on the latest version of Flash. In addition to Actionscript, I have tried adjusting the Publish Settings (e.g., unchecking "Loop" and setting the Flash version to 7 or 8) and editing the embed parameters (as suggested in another answer on Stack), however neither of these efforts seems to make a difference.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Animation Randomly Stop?

Oct 26, 2010

I've been making a Flash animation in AS3 for quite some time now and I'm just about finished, except whenever I go to test it, it will always stop at a certain point. First of all, I definitely do NOT have a stop script there. It's 27 scenes long. It will always stop roughly 11 minutes and 10 seconds in. Why does it do this?

My animation is just a looping rotating circle created on the timeline. How can I get this looping animation to stop after 30 seconds? Also, is there a simple way to have the animation resume on a mouse rollover

Flash :: Forcing A Negative Bottom Margin?

Aug 4, 2011

I have an .swf navigation carousel that is 650 pixels high, the bottom 200 pixels being reserved for the reflection of the carousel. The reflection is very subtle and is not considered important information, so we would like to remove vertical scrollbars when the window is high enough to fit the topmost 450 pixels, but not the reflection.

I tried to accomplish this by setting a margin-bottom: -200px to the flash <object> but this only made the container's height shrink 200 pixels, causing the background pattern to cut before the bottom of the page.the Flash itself is still taking up 650 pixels.

Is there some "proper" fix to this, other than hiding/showing the scrollbars actively using javascript?

Javascript :: Forcing Redraw Of Flash Content In IE 7?

Dec 19, 2011

I have an flash swf on a page loaded with object/embed tags.

<object width="565" height="300" >
<param name="movie" value="/swf/Sample-Elf.swf">
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
<embed src="/swf/Sample-Elf.swf" quality="high" wmode="transparent" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" width="565" height="300"></embed>
</object>

I need to be able to start/stop or reload this swf with purely javascript as I don't have access to the source swf file to add any actionscript.I figured the easiest way to pull this off is by removing the element and replacing it forcing a redraw with would hince reload the swf movie. Though ie seams to cache the flash element and pretty much look over any updates I make to the embed/object tags and keeps right on going.So how do I force IE to redraw/update a flash element on a page?

Javascript :: Swfobject And Flash - Display Loading Animation?

Mar 18, 2011

I'm using swfobject to dynamically load a flash object into a div, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to display a loading animation until the flash object is ready for display? In this case, I'm loading an embedded Issuu object, and you can see an example of Issuu loading via swfobject here. Depending on your connection speed, there is typically just a blank white space while the flash object loads, and it'd be great to indicate progress with a loading animation if possible.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Forcing Browser Or Flash To Cache Loaded Images?

Feb 1, 2010

I've uploaded my slideshow swf to my WIP website (CSS files got overwritten ) Everything is working great. It's looping, I have a preloader animation, ect. The problem I now want to resolve is getting the loader to cache the image files. When the slideshow is told to go back to image[0], it reloads it again. As the whole point of this project was to work around my free web hosting's bandwidth limits, as well as getting more experience working with XML, this simply wont do. Imagine if someone browsing my site left the main page running for a few hours! What I need it to do is to somehow force the browser to cache the images once they are loaded, or at least I think this is what I need to do? Here's the code again:

Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;

i want the .SWF file to be opened but not donwloaded until a button is pressed but don't know ho to do that..on frame 1 i have an object (movieclip) that consists of a logo with a blur effect.. after 1-2 seconds the blur effect goes away and you can see the logo. the logo itself is a button that send's the user to the next frame in the main scene.on frame 2 of the main scene i have a preloader that shows the percentage of the loaded page and a progress bar .. everything works great

the problem is that when you open the swf it starts downloading the hole flash site and when you press enter the site is already loaded and you can't see the progress bar of the preloader..i want only the 1 frame of the main scene to be loded, then i want i to stop loading (downloading) the SWF file until enter is pressed.when enter is pressed i want the flash site to be loaded and so you can see the preloader in action..can i put some code on the action layer on the 1 frame that stops loading the movie (the first frame is loaded and the blur effect of the logo plays).and another code on the second frame (where the preloader is visible) that starts the donwloading again?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash + HTML + Variables - Go To The Home.html Page An Animation Will Play From Start And Then Stop At The End Of It

Feb 25, 2010

when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say

"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"

My problem is I need to add an animation and because it's jumping through the applet it isn't animating, I have an animation on a new layer, but it won't play or loop, is there anyway I can get this simple animation to loop constantly in spite of the stop commands in the other laters, I have to have an animation for the project to be valid.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop Loading The Previous Xml When Start Loading Another Xml?

I have two xmls, xml1 and xml2. Both have same structure, only data are different. Button 1 loads xml1 and button2 loads xml2. Both calls same function to load XML. First i press button1, so xml1 starts loading, but if before xml1 is completely loaded, i press button2, xml2 also starts loading. If for some reason the xml2 loads first i get data from xml2. But when i look at the bandwidth profiler in flash , xml1 is still loading. When xml1 is loaded it will replace data from xml2. SInce i pressed button2 last, i would want data from xml2. So is it possible to stop loading the previous xml when i start loading another xml?

Play Animation But Stop And Allow Interaction?

Jul 1, 2011

I have a product that I am showing call-outs on. Little dots that when rolled over trigers an animation and displays information about the feature. This in itself is no problem, I have seven of these set up as buttons that work when rolled over. However, the people I am setting this up for would like the animations to be on auto play when the user is not interacting with the flash piece within a greater page. I thought I could just build a movie clip with all of the animations compiled and let them run on a layer and then when a users curser came into view of the flash piece it would stop the movie and allow for the user to manually rollover the features.

Stop An Animation Containing Scrollboxes On Mouse Over

Aug 10, 2009

I am creating a sort of "information slideshow" for a clients website where a movie clip on the main stage acts as a slideshow and when not touched by the users mouse it fades through 3 stages giving information on 3 different subjects, then when the user places their mouse over the movie on the HTML page the animation stops to allow the user to use the scroll bar on the right of the movie to scroll through the information on the subject, then when the user is finished then can move the mouse away from the movie and it will continue to play through as it did before.

i have the animation playing with the 3 seperate "states" and identical scroll-boxes for each state and im trying to think of a way to make the animation stop when the mouse is over it WITHOUT using a button, when a button is used on the top layer of the animation the scroll boxes are not useable as the button is on top of them, so i tried making a gap in the button to cater for them but then of course the mouse isnt over the button when the user goes for the scroll box and the "rollout" part of the script is activated and the movie continues to play. is there a way to make the animation stop prehaps when the mouse is over the "main automation" movie clip WITHOUT the use of a button, or what would be even better is when flash detects that the mouse is over the top of the actual .SWF itself it stops the movie.
