I need to save data to the local disk and then load it back up again as required. I'm using a local shared object to save data to and this works fine. Getting it back out again seems less straightforward. This is the code I'm using:
//Saving
myLocal_so = sharedobject.getLocal("flashcookie","/");
datastring = "anyoldstuff";//sample data to save
myLocal_so.data.savegame = datastring;
myLocal_so.flush();
//Loading
myLoadVars = new LoadVars();
myLoadVars = myLocal_so.data.savegame;
myLoadVars.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {loadgame = myLocal_so.data.savegame;
trace (myLocal_so.data.savegame);
} else {trace ("Error!");}}
Nothing appears to happen at all. The program continues with no traced output at all.
I am making a desktop Flash application (AS3). It provides to users an opportunity to save and open their projects.I've used FileReference to open project file
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
var ourTypes:Array=new Array(new FileFilter("Map Editor type (*.xml)", "*.xml"));
fileRef.browse(ourTypes);
and use file content by using fileRef.data.
var mainXml:XML;
mainXml=new XML(fileRef.data);
User must have an opportunity to add some data in this file (not only read). How can I save new data in the same file?
how to save my drawing (image or movieclips) to my local sytem without any server side script . i m using player 10.
View 1 Repliesis there a way to save, not save as, from an online flex app onto someone's local machine?asically, if a user opens a file local to their machine in an online flex app, is there a way to allow them to save it locally without going through dialog boxes and picking file names?
View 2 RepliesI know it's possible to load and save a local file using CS4 and Flash Player 10, but my question is if I can load a SWF local file without using 'browse' and 'load' methods and then save it. I really pretend to "copy" a specific SWF local file into another folder on my HD and I think this is possible loading first this file and then saving it. For this reason I don't want the dialog box appears (with browse method). ('maybe with 'Loader'?)
View 2 RepliesThats what I'm trying to achieve. I believe some php needs to be involved here?
View 1 RepliesI would like to save a webcam captured video to the local disk using AS. The application is running in a standalone Flashplayer 10. I can save pictures from ByteArrays using file.save, but I can't find a way for doing this with video. There is a nice implementation for that using AS and AIR at http:[url]...I don't want to have to install AIR before running the app.
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to save text format file to our local system using Flash Player 9? Flash Player 10 has that facility to save text file, but i am not sure about Flahs Player 9. Please replay if anyone have implemented such using Flash Player 9.
View 2 RepliesI want to know how to save some variable values into a local machine... as for example a save button. Then the user plays the movie again the variables show up as he left them. I think this is done by SharedObject or something like that...
View 2 RepliesI currently creating a standalone language learning application using Flash Professional 8. The application allow users to record and playback their own pronunciation, so that they can compare their own pronunciation with the pronunciation provided in the application for learning. how can I save and playback recorded voice on local computer
View 2 RepliesI'd like to distribute FLV files from my website, however I want a level of DRM control over the files. So far, I've been able to modify the FLV files to contain a 60 character ID at the very front of the file, but I can't figure out how to get AIR to extract the ID and therefore play the file. All I can figure out is using NetStream, but that won't let me skip 60 bytes, and so it thinks the FLV is invalid.
View 1 RepliesI am a developer in Web Flash Game.(I use AS3.0) I want to save and load the swf-file to a local disk of any user,Because I want to decrease the time for loading a flash movie from site.Is it possible?If it is possible, I hope the swf-file has only one loading from site and it will be loaded from a local disk of any user after that. (I know a concept of Internet temporary file. I want to know the other techniques of only using AS3.0.)
View 3 RepliesI'm making a Flash projector which will be distributed on CD. I want to allow people to copy files off of the CD. Is this possible? Should I be using FileReference?
View 1 RepliesWe have a Web login feature. We will offer Free calls to a large campaign.
Scenarios:
Because of free calls, we will offer a unique file to be downloaded and stored After a week or month we will call them and offer them our desktop application to scan and see how trusted, the user is If we dont find the same file again, we will never start business and more our own statistics Based on that report we want to do some follow ups campaign We can do this with cookies but we want user experience and trust analysis
Example: if you play a music in youtube.com, without notice your file is actually in /tmp/Flash....flv with lot of data on it.
Question: How can i do the similar using Flex/Flash from the web browser ?
I'm using FlashDevelop. Below is the code I used,
package
{
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.Sprite;
[Code]...
I got the code
var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone();
mic.setUseEchoSuppression(true);
mic.setLoopBack(true);
when I browse thru adobe documentation for microphone access. But I could not find a way to record the sound and save it in the local drive.How to store the sound in local drive???
I'm playing with Local Shared Objects, and I was able to save and load simple data types like strings and integers. Pretty cool.
I want to Save/Load a Bitmap Object but I'm having problems. I think I got a Bitmap Object to save but when I loaded it back in, it was basically a blank bitmap. I located the actual .SOL file on my computer and opened it up. It had some basic Bitmap info like scale, rotation, visible, width, height, etc, but NOT the actual bitmap.
So I realized that I need to be saving/loading a BitmapData object instead of just Bitmap. BitmapData holds the actual bitmap pixels, I think. Anyway I saved out a BitmapData object. When i tried to load it back in, I get a type coercion error: "Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Object@df355b1 to flash.display.BitmapData". I dont get it because this error didnt occur for Strings, ints, or Bitmap Objects. Whats happening?
Also, I looked again at the .SOL file after saving out the BitmapData object, And I dont see any pixel data there. The bitmap I'm saving is 800x800 so the .SOL file should be pretty big but its just a tiny file so I know the pixels havn't been saved properly.
Here is the code I'm using (Simplified - error handling removed, etc)
Code:
// save
var mySo:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("mysharedobjecttest");
mySo.data.testA = 14;
mySo.data.testB = "hello this is a test";
[Code].....
I am seeing repeated comments on this discussion forum that it's not possible to save data from Flash into a locally stored XML file . . . but there must be a way to do this. Why is you can read data from a locally stored XML file but not update or add data to it. how absurd a design would that be, it simply wouldn't be logical!
View 8 RepliesI can read an image from hard drive and get a ByteArray from its source. Is there any way to store those bytes in local SQL database? What datatype for this field I need to choose?Or maybe there is a more clever way to save an Image file itself into AIR SQL?..
View 1 RepliesI'm looking at writing an app with Adobe AIR, but I wanted to figure out if this is feasible with the platform first. (Mostly new to Flash and AIR).What I would like to do is know ahead of time what local port a URLRequest will be using. If possible, I would like to hold a connection open even and keep using the same socket.What I'm basically trying to accomplish is doing some NAT-Traversal and port negotiation ahead of time. Once I have both the client and the server negotiated, I'd like them to connect and basically use HTTP in a peer-to-peer way to stream media, like this sample:
var s = new air.Sound();
var url = "http://www.example.com/sounds/bigSound.mp3";
var req = new air.URLRequest(url); [code].........
The problem is that I don't see this happening unless I can get some information from AIR on what ports it's planning to use. I would be OK with creating my own Socket connections to the server and using them, but I would need a way to leverage the Sound framework to stream in the same way from a socket.
For example, in local network, when Adobe Air is reading files from local server (\Serverstorage) and network will be in down for a second, Air becomes eat a lot of memory and it is increasing up to 1GB (while normal memory use is 100 kb or less).Just reading file with File('file path on local server'); from unstable network can cause this error.
Have anybody seen that in projects?
private function init() : void
{
file = new File("\Serverdragracing
[code].....
Does anyone know a good library to unzip local files in adobe AIR for with actionscript 3? I have: A local file named somefile.zip I need:To give some external library a path where I want to save the unzipped version of file.It must be able to process the file and not load it all into the memory.I found the FZip library - but it loads all archived data into the memory.And also found the nochump library, but there is no such parameter to choose where I want to unzip the file.
View 1 RepliesWe are a research group from the University of Zaragoza (Spain). We are developing educational games for children with special needs, (in particular, with)social and cognitive disabilities. We develop our games with Adobe Flash CS5, so we are enough handy with Action Script language.The emerged problem is related with the security sandboxes in Flash.
At the moment, we are designing a new educative application where image and sound resources come from the Internet, using web services through a "loader.load(new URLRequest(name))" command. We are using the adequate crossdomain file, and it is working fine when published on the web.HOWEVER, now we are thinking on developing a desktop educative application, where educators will configure the game, and keep their work in a local system file. This is where problems arise. As the Flash player sandboxes limits us to "only network", or "only local file system" use, we are not able to access the Internet and to generate local files at the same time.
We are not trying to make a flash virus, we are only trying to make an application for educators, where resources came from the Internet but the application requires access to local file system in order to let educators to save and to load their work in their disk.Reading the Adobe doc, we found the different flash player sandboxes: http:[url]....
It seems that there is a sandbox which enables us to both access internet and local files:"Security.LOCAL_TRUSTED—The SWF file is a local file and has been trusted by the user, using either the Settings Manager or a Flash Player trust configuration file. The SWF file can both read from local data sources and communicate with the Internet." And it seems that Local_trusted SWF files are set by the final user or by installer programs. As we intend to publish the application on the web, and educators will download the application, the installer programs seems a nice option, but we are not able to find info about SWF installer programs.
On the other hand, we know about the Adobe Air solution. We understand that AIR is a substitute to Flash Player. It seems adequate as it will expand our application to other environments like android IOS (tablets, mobiles, ...).The question is: using AIR, would we gain network and local access in our SWF application? And what about the final user? Would he/she be able to download the SWF from our web, and any kind of AIR player and executing our application in an easy way on the device? Finally, what do you think is the best solution for the kind of application we are aiming to?
My Flex app downloads a bunch of images. When the user closes the browser window (or navigates away from the page), those images shouldn't be saved in the local cache. HTTP headers for the SWF file tells browser to fetch it from the website every time -- that is, it shouldn't save the SWF file locally. I just want to make sure that any of the images that the Flex app downloads isn't saved locally.
I checked Windows XP & Flash 9 for this. And nothing was stored locally. I assume this is true across all platforms and all versions of Flash greater than 9?
I need to save images from flash via asp (windows server) to local computer, how to do this?
View 4 Replies!--Does anyone know if it possible to save the local shared object(.sol) file at a desired location or to embed it within the flash movie?
2--Is it possible to create an image file at runtime from a flash projector file?
I am programming a web based application with Actionscript 2.0 classes for flash 8, and I want to save user data using the local shared object.As the data is potentially rather complex I would prefer to store it in an instance of a custom class that I then stick in an array property of the local shared object data property.However, when I try to do this, if I retrieve the stored object it seems to have lost all its instance methods. If I do a for in on it, I can see the private properties to which I have assigned my data, but as they are private I cannot retrieve them.how I can store an instance of a custom class in a local shared object without it being corrupted in this way?
View 4 RepliesI'm having some trouble getting around a security restriction of flex. Saving a file is apparently an action that can only be invoked upon user interaction. The problem is that after my user clicks on the save button, I need to perform a database query to get the data for the file I want to save.
Because Flex works asynchronous, I have to make the database call and then catch the ResultEvent in a different function. In that function, I no longer have the user's mouseclick event. How am I then supposed to save this file?
[Code]...
I've been fooling with this problem since AS2.0 (and shared Objects) and I'm not much closer to solving it, partly because every article I read on it is focused on php and server-side stuff that doesn't apply. How to load a String Array from a txt file in local user space (the folder from which the .swf is run). What I need to know: The easiest way for the user to save/load a file. The file has to contain Objects and Arrays reflecting his current status in the game. The goal is to avoid non-Flash apps and languages, and external Classes if possible (I do everything right in the main fla). I don't mind that the user has to initiate and approve the upload/download.
