I'm working in Flash CS5 w/ActionScripting 3.0. I have a content box w/scroller that calls dynamic html on one page/part of my project's timeline.
I want to duplicate the exact same content box w/scroller, but need it to contain different data (call a different .htm doc), for another part of my site.
I created a project w/a dynamic html scroll box on one page/spot on timeline. I want to use the same scroll box, but have it call a different .htm file for different content at a different part of my timeline.My problem is the file naming. I tried to just copy the entire scroller project I made and append a "_2" to all the file names, so that they wouldn't interfere with my original scroller in my main project, but that didn't work out.Is there anyway to duplicate the original scroller within my project and just have it call a different file?
View 1 RepliesIm new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between
<noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
i have got a Flash Projector which is to be deployed onDC/DVD rom. I am using an XML menu to load various chapters andsections of html content, images etc. The client is now asking forthe capability to search within the "books" content.Is there any way of doing this? I have found an Extensionthat allows me to search within a text field, but what aboutexternal content files?
View 3 RepliesI've created a dynamic text field where I've insert into a lot of HTML code. Since it's too much long I've used a default scrollbar and simply dropped it onto the field so that It's linked to that. When I try it the bar is there but I can just see the upper arrow and the bottom one; the middle part isn't visible and I can't scroll down the HTML content.
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to load an XML file and place the content into a dynamic text field. The XML nodes contain content within CDATA sections that have basic <b> and <i> tags. Once I have the content loaded into a variable and trace it, I can see all my tags within.
I then place the content into a dynamic text field with html set to true but for some reason it doesn't show any formatting, the tags appear to have been rendered because they don't show up inline. I thought maybe this was due to embedded fonts but i have all of my bold, bold italic, italic and regular font's within a text field embedded so I wouldn't think thats an issue. Is there something I'm overlooking?
is there a way to keep the content of a mc (attached content) when I duplicate it? I know that duplicate remembers size, position, rotation etc. But I want to get the attached content too.

I need some way that the html link can detect the user mousing over/off of it and fire off a function (to bring up a tooltip elsewhere on the interface, specifically). how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.
View 2 RepliesI'm dynamically loading JPG file using Loader class. Everything works except if I want to tile the image few more times using addChild(loader.content) it just doesn't work. It always removes previous instance and leaves only the last one. I've tried everything but with no luck. Here's my code:

I'm developing a Flash application which is communicating with Javascript to allow more features such as custom html input etc., by placing an absolute positioned div on top of the flash application and controlling it's position etc. with Flash & Javascript.
Because these html elements have to appear above the flash content, I figured the following basic css would be enough to do the trick:

So, the htmlContent has a higher z-index than the flash content and thus it should be shown above it. Unfortunately, this only seems to work when you set the Flash object's "wmode" parameter to "transparent".
The problem with this setting is that it's seriousely decreasing the application's framerate to an unacceptable amount.
For static content this does not seem to be a problem, however for my application there's all kinds of elements that you can drag around which have to be moved real-time (while moving the mouse).
So, how do I enable html content on top of flash content without using the "transparent" wmode parameter or how do I optimize framerate when using the "transparent" wmode parameter?
I have an xml doc which works beautifully....now I want to edit the "content" so that it display html content, ie....within the text of the "content" I could add bold tags or add a links or something like that....I have looked up and down and no thread I could find has a straight forward definitive answer...not just on here either...is it that difficult...i doubt it?I will have to set the properties of my text box to accept html...right?so something like this....

I am creating a flash object that does some heavy image lifting. What I am looking to do is load many flash objects onto the same page to take an image, modify it, and display it within the flash object.The problem I am running into is that when I try to add 100 flex objects to the page, the browser freezes as it tries to re-load/initialize each instance.Once they are all loaded, the processing of the images goes by quick.Does anyone know how to duplicate the flash piece without having to reload everything?

I am parsing data from an xml file into an array within my flash file. The nodes within the xml file have common data between them. What I am attempting to do is dynamically push the data in the array without duplicating data already contained in the array. For example I may have an xml file that looks like this:

<title>video1</title>
<thumb>file1.jpg</thumb>
<group>group1</group>

Say I want to push the "group" data into an array. When it gets to the third "video" node I want the array to see that "group1" already exists so instead of pushing a second reference of it into the array to actually push the secondary data ("title" and "thumb"> into a new array for "group1". I will later use that array to pull up a list of "group1" videos.
I have a mc (squareContainer) that can be dragged around. It also contains other mc's that uses hittest and changes colour on mouseDown.I want to add another squareContainer (eg squareContainer2) that contains the same mc's with a couple of extra ones.. what is the best way to do this without duplicating instance names, functions and variables?
View 0 RepliesI'm creating a mosaic application from facebook images and I have all of the coding working, my problem is I'm duplicating (cloning) Bitmap's in the final mosaic because obviously there aren't enough images on everyones facebook to make up the 1000+ images in a mosaic
See in the upperleft how all the images are very well defined, but then as the grid continues to the bottom and right each image gets less and less accurate until it is just one color...The code I am using is just,

I'm having trouble calling up the content in my scrollpane in a simple quiz application. I'm a graphic designer so I'm not real proficient with AS3 yet. I created a scrollpane object called Scroller1 and I'm trying to scroll a movie object called Movie1 inside the scrollpane. The code I used from the Adobe site calls up an external file, but I want to call up an internal movie so I changed the Scroller1.source = to the movie name, but it doesn't work.

Is there some other way I need to call this up? The movie is a contents list that has buttons to take you to various frames in the application and it's too long for one page.
duplicate the dynamic objects and have a little problem. It looks like this: Flash retrieves data from sql, PHP returns the result to me in the form: $name1=some text $name2=some text $name3=some text $count=3 Flash creates elements very nicely but I do not have no idea what type of code place in script (in the place marked by ?)to put text to those MC.
