Actionscript 3 :: Keep Flash From Focusing On Child Object Which Messes Up Tabindex?

Oct 3, 2011

I have a button with a tabIndex. The button contains a textfield.When I click on the edge of the button and hit tab, the next item is correctly focussed.But when I click on the textfield (non-editable,not tab-enabled, no tabindex), and then hit tab, it focusses on the first object on the page, even though the parents focusIn function is triggered, in which I'm setting the focus to the parent object[code]...

Flash :: TabIndex Fails In A Swf Loaded Into A Flex App?

Jun 25, 2009

I feel like I'm missing something really simple here. I'm loading a AS3 swf containing a form (created by one of our designers) into a flex app. The swf's tabIndex properties work fine when the swf is viewed by itself, however, once it's loaded into the flex app:

<mx:SWFLoader source="form.swf" top="20" horizontalCenter="0" id="formSwf" complete="swfCompleteHandler(event)"/>

the form fields stop receiving focus on tab. I've been looking at the FocusManager in flex, for some sort of solution, but I can't seem to find any examples, and I'm not entirely sure I'm looking in the right place. Am I stuck redoing this form in flex?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Focusing On The Product In Question

Apr 2, 2009

I'm having a hard time wading through all the different types of flash and actonscript that is posted here. I've seen some of the senior members spend extra time trying to determine which Flash product was being used and which action script. Some of us are limited to F7, F8 etc. It would be nice to be able to search for entries that apply to what we're looking for. I see two possible solutions, maybe you have others.

1. Create a new entry item for the new forum that includes Flash type and Actionscript being used. 2. Each of us can identify what products and actionscript we are using or asking about in the Topic Summary.

Question: Would it be beneficial for seperate input fields to be added to the new forum site to include Product version and the actonscript being used?I know all you rich folks use the CS products and that's all
as3. What happens when as4 shows up?

Flash Layers Move To Right When Child Object Is Resized

Jun 10, 2009

I am having a problem with a flash piece that I created. I don't understand why it is doing what it is doing. I am new to flash but I have been developing software and database applications for over 10 years.I am trying to make a horizontal scroller piece that reads in data from an xml document. So basically the XML has properties of image, title, and link, I then load the images and titles into an object spaced out properly and link the image to open a new window when the image is clicked. I have 4 layers:

1. Actions
2. Buttons
3. Layer1
4. Scroller

The buttons layer has 2 buttons on it, one left aligned and one right aligned. When you mouse over the buttons, the images in the scroller move the direction the button image is pointing. The Scroller Layer has an object of type scroller (which i made) and that scroller instance name is scrollerbar.In actionscript I use a sprite object to load the image and then use scrollerbar.addChild(photo) to add the sprite into the scrollerbar. Then I set it's width, height, x and y to be in the correct position.Now when this first runs, it works displays 6 images and titles and they are linked, and has a button on the left and right. When I mouseover either of the buttons, everything gets moved to the right, the buttons, the scroller, and all the images inside the scroller. So the left button is no longer against the left side, and you can hardly see the right button because it almost gets pushed outside the viewable area.Can anyone explain why everything is getting pushed over like that? It only happens the first time you mouse over a button, subsequent mouseovers of either button do not cause this to happen again.[code]

Actionscript 3 :: Atom Feed Xmlns Attribute Messes Up XML-parsing?

Jan 21, 2010

Wanna see something interesting?

var xml:XML = XML(<feed><entry /><entry /><entry /></feed>);
trace(xml.entry.length()) // returns 3

Makes sense, right? Now let's add this attribute. var xml:XML = XML(<feed xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"><entry /><entry /><entry /></feed>); trace(xml.entry.length()) // returns 0

Well that can't be right. Let's try it with a different attribute.

var xml:XML = XML(<feed test="okay"><entry /><entry /><entry /></feed>);trace(xml.entry.length()) // returns 3

Anyone know what would cause this? I used atom as an example, but any 'xmlns' attribute on the root node seems to have this effect. The value returned is straight up false - there are obviously still 3 'entry' child nodes regardless of the attributes their parents possess.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Importing Components Class Sheets Messes Up Styles?

Oct 11, 2006

On my Mac OS X it didn't matter, the setStyle Worked Fine,However I've transfered my files over to PC and working with the exact same things all the styles work EXCEPT for the setStyle("themeColor", "color");On this PC it's always turning it from the default "Greens" to a solid gray shade of borders, this is very weird.

For Example

Code:
// Have a button component on stage
import mx.controls.Button
_global.styles.setStyle("themeColor", "haloOrange");

[code]....

It works just fine, do I need to edit the core class files for something? I'm extremely confused, I inport the class files in the first place so I can do public vars and strict data type them to that component.

Mar 10, 2011

if there is a way to set focus to the next item in the tabIndex? So for example (in psuedo code): stage.focus = whatever the next item in the tabIndex is

Maybe something like tabIndex.next? I know this doesn't work because I already tried it, but maybe something like it?

I have a series of dynamically generated textfield boxes that form a grid and I want users to enter a single character and then have the focus change to the next box. I have had all kinds of issues trying to reference the next textfield using the instance name I gave them when they are generated, so I thought if there was a way to just automatically go to the next item in the tabindex, that would be perfect.
