Actionscript 3 :: Telephone Call From AIR Application?
Jul 20, 2011Since there is no actionscript API for skype, is there a http call API which I can use for actionscript 3? I want to make telephone calls from AIR app.

Jul 29, 2005I'm interested in creating number/telephone keypad, but I can get multiple numbers to append to each other. I creating a simple little app where the user "punches in" an amount from an on-screen number keypad. When the user presses 5-0-0, I'd like it to set the variable to "500".
The only method I'v tried (or know how to do) is:
on(press){set("varNumber1",1)} - But this only allows me one number at a time.
Is there any exisiting code out there - how to append the numbers to each other.

Nov 12, 2010Trying to prevent the application from shutting down when clicked the X button, it still closing but the AIR process is running in the task manager. What wrong with the code?

Flex :: Getting A Hold Of The Application To Call Its Method?
Sep 12, 2011In my Flex 4.5 application I have a TitleWindow Settings.mxml, which is popped up by the PopUpManager.Once the user has changed some settings, I not only need to save them to a SharedObject, but also to apply them to the main Application itself - so that the changes are visible to the user immediately.For example I need to call its method hideApp(somevalue);
The spark.components.Application does not seem to have any static/singleton methods to get ahold of it.So how do you do it? how to declare, that an MXML file implements one or several interfaces?

Jun 22, 2009I'm trying to use ExternalInterface.Call to call a JavaScript function to launch a lightbox window. So far I have this:
AS3:

I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.

Actionscript 3 :: Simulating A Click Call To A Button(displayObject) Thats Generated Via An API Call?
Nov 2, 2011I'm having trouble simulating a click call to a button(displayObject) thats generated via an API call( youtube as3 API). I have not seen any mention of security reasons as to why I can not simulate a click as long as something is registered with a click handler. Basically I checked to make sure the button made is listening to a mouse click event with:
trace(generatedButton.hasEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK)) which returns true
I proceed to than call this:
generatedButton.dispatchEvent( new MouseEvent(MouseEvent.CLICK, true) );
And nothing happens yet if I physically click the button it works. Is there some security measure that prevents something from being fake clicked unless its origin is strictly from the system mouse?
I even set a timeout call on the click function and moved my cursor over the button and let it fire in case it was an issue of the mouse having to over the object but still nothing. I am kind of stumped at this point.

Nov 4, 2010I need to get a javascript var in my Flash application. I like to be able to just set a variable in the javascript (client constraints) rather than define a function.
Can this be done? I am trying to use the ExternalInterface.call()
AS:
ExternalInterface.call("function(){return window.someVar}", null);
JS:
var someVar = "Test";
This does not work and I suspect it is because the ExternalInterface.call() does not like the anonymous function.

I call that function from my Flash file like so:

This works in both Safari and Chrome, but for some reason Firefox won't ever call the function. Still, I can't figure this out. How can I fix it?

As soon as we enter our FMS license key we get this error: "application is not a valid signed application loading access denied".We removed the license key and it works again, but with user limits obviously, so this is not an acceptable fix.

In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?
