I have embedded a single swf three times named as video.swf.
The swfs names are video1 , video2 and video3.
If I play a swf, I wants to get the currently playing swf's name?
I'm using javascript for communication.

I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3.
I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.
for some reason, whenever I dynamically load a swf on a $(document).ready() by writing to a div, I am unable to make javascript calls to the browser. Specifically, all calls to the browser return "null". This does not occur when embedding the swf normally on the page load, but I would like to prevent loading of the swf until a specified point in time.
What the heck is going on here? Is there something special about dynamically embedding a swf that prevents the swf from talking to the browser? The methods ARE called (I've proven such by showing alerts), but all return values to any function, regardless of type returned, shows as null when it gets to flash.
Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
The reason I need this is because my upload form uses session cookies (for user authentication) and an CSRF token both passed to the server when uploading files.Is it technically possible to pass filenames (+ paths) to a JavaScript application which then handles the upload?
Here's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.
The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.

We're experiencing issues with memory and we're looking to replace the shell.swf with a JavaScript-based loader.Two questions:What would be a good framework to dynamically load the Flex components and allow the modules to communicate between each other?Would dynamically loading/unloading the modules via JavaScript take care of the typical memory problems associated with Flex/Flash applications?
View 1 RepliesWith all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.

I have a flash file that contains a package "game" which has a class "Scores" and a method setValue(). I want to write some lines of Javascript that allow me to call that method. Someone directed me to this tutorial, but I am still a bit confused.

displays an alert to tell me that it has indeed began to execute saves the embedded flash file into a variable and sets access imports that class calls the method.I am not sure about how this class thing works? I know a Flash object can provide a javascript API to interact with it, what I dont know is can Flash send an email directly without the need to talk to the webserver to do so? The player needs to be javascript enabled (support methods like play, stop etc.) The mp3 tracklist will be built dynamically using ajax on the same page as the player so it must trigger an event when a track finishes playing (or at least provide functionality of some kind to indicate that it's time to start the next track). [URL] I agree that javascript and css can be used to replicate some of Flash's animation, though Flash does all sorts of scaling and tweening that is incredibly powerful, and I'm not sure that there's anything comparable in javascript, if there is, I certainly haven't seen it.
However, my question is about the socket. Flash has an incredibly powerful openSocket class that allows you to connect to a server and have the server and the client talk back and forth to one another. As far as I know there is no equivalent class in Javascript. Am I mistaken? Is there some secret mystery Ajax class that replicates the openSocket? If not, then that feature alone makes Flash an invaluable tool.

View 2 RepliesI have a project I am doing that requires delivery on a DVD and through the web. I have been using Flash to drive a menu system and javascript to load pages or other actions on the web. However, when I move it to a DVD I receive a Security Error 2060 - the swf is unable to communicate with the html page it is loaded onto and so none of the javascript is parsed. I am using ExternalInterface calls and jquery on the html page.
Searching online I have made sure that Flash when publishing "Allow local files only" and on the html page I'm using swfobject with a param field of allowscriptaccess of "always" - looking at the generated code on pages it shows that the allowscriptaccess is there.
Is there some security setting that I can program in that will give my Flash application the ability to function the same from a DVD as it would from the web and communicate with Javascript? If I need to compile two different swfs that would be okay.
How to get SWF url form a webpage using javascript. Actually I want to retrieve all SWF from a webpage, So I wrote an Greasemonkey Script that scans OBJECT, EMBED etc tags to get the swf url. My script works fine on most of the pages, but fails on this one [URL] this page is not having any Object, Embed tag in its source and my script fails here.

I've been using a java script popup method similar to the one shown here: [URL] The only real variation from this that I can think of worth mentioning is that the pop up comes from another imbedded swf file. The main swf works as a place holder that loads the second swf containing the pop up button, the javascript that goes in the html is in the correct page... and I've gone over this thing with a fine tooth comb racking my brains to figure out why but it will not pop up in IE7... I havent even tried it in older versions of IE but I doubt it works there either.
It works fine in Firefox though... flawlessly. But in Internet Explorer 7 nothing... I've tried adding it to trusted sites, I've made absolutely sure that all pop up blocking features are shut off... but when I click the menu at the top and load that second swf with the button wired for the pop up it does nothing... the browser displays a yellow java error road sign at the bottom and will not display the pop up.
Does anyone know the theory behind using javascript to insert your SWF files into the XHTML page, rather then the ("Insert.., Media.., SWF) way.
Is this a better way of doing it? whats the difference?

View 9 RepliesI posted about this a few weeks ago but it's still unresolved....I'm about ready to cry or go postal or both. I would love any input you might have. Another Flashkit member said he thought it might be line 23 of the html code, but I can't identify what's wrong with it. I will seriously send you a bar of fine chocolate I have created a multimedia site that pops up swf photo galleries. Trouble is.....the swf's are not loading in the popup windows. Here is an example:[URL] The link that opens the gallery is halfway down on the right.
It works perfectly on my local machine, and you can navigate directly to the swf ([URL]) so I'm thinking it's something in the html code of either the gallery "popper" or the "poppee." This is a recent development--until sometime this year it worked just fine. Not sure if some web standard changed or what?
