I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.
View 1 RepliesWith all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.

I have managed to load in the picture but the transform class doesn't seem want to grab it. Eventually I want to us the FileRef to upload the image but I just need to figure out how it works first. Here my code to load in the external image

View 13 RepliesI am having many websites . In that I have to send some parameters from php to flash. All the parameters are getting correctly displayed in flash except the currency symbol. These currency symbols are extracted from db to php in form of html entities like(& pound;). I can't change the db as it will require many changes in all websites of mine. I have used rawurlencode in php before sending to flash but in flash it gets displayed as & pound; in flash. I have given space between "&" and "pound;" so it is not converted to symbol in the post . In db it is correctly entered with no space. Previously , I was sending directly by writing the object tag in php file and and writing the parameters in params tag withing object tag. It was working perfectly fine . Now I have start using swfobject.js javascript library of hosted by google for embedding the flash content. Now its not working ( currency symbol is not getting displayed instead it html entity unicode shown above is getting displayed.) . I can't change the flash files also. I have to handle it from php or javascript code only.

I am trying to embed the goto next frame and stop code snippet into a symbol. Its basically a box that a user can click that will allow them to go to the next frame. The instanced symbol will be resized from frame to frame etc. I ve been told that if I embed the code within a movieclip within the symbol it should work, however I am severely frustrated as nothing is happening.

I have 10 different map symbols on the stage. I have 1 class called ContinentView which is linked as the base class to each of these 10 map symbols. All I want to do is duplicate the same map symbol and miniaturize it when the map symbol is clicked upon. Thus, 2 symbols will be on stage prior to clicking, 1 large and 1 small. The 10 different map symbols have names such as zone1, zone2, zone3...etc. all the way up to 10. I know that I can do var mini:MovieClip = new zone1() as MovieClip; but thats ONLY if I click on the 1st map symbol and vice versa. This means I would have to do an if tree or several cases in a switch statement to check the id or name of the clicked symbol (e.currentTarget.name or something)...I want to avoid that and be dynamic.

I have a symbol with another symbol embedded inside it (there's nothing I can do about it, I know). For the symbol inside the symbol (lets call it symbol 2), I have a few buttons that return a value when pressed. I have an if statement that triggers if the values are equal to a certain amount. The if statement is supposed to goto the next scene.
The if statement and all the values work correctly, but for some reason, it will not move to the next scene. I've tried both nextScene(); and gotoAndPlay("scene",1); to no luck. I have even tried putting _root. to the front of the code, and it doesn't work.

I've never seen this type of structure before and I'm having a heck of a time trying to search for it on Google - I've found what it means in just about every programming language except AS3.
i have this javascript tracking-code I need to place in our flash-banner in order for our third-party tracking company to track clicks and that sort of stuff, but I'm not sure how I need to place it in our flash-banner. I thought I coudl simply place this javascript into a top layer or the like, but seems I cannot directly include it like that inside Flash. Then I thought perhhaps I could simply save the javascript file as .js file and call it from within the Flash file, but not sure how to go about it...

I'm involved in writing a Flex/ActionScript library and in the future I will be involved in writing the same library in JavaScript. Rather than writing a library in each language and having to maintain them separately I was wondering if it was possible to:
1) Write the code in one language and share the code into the other e.g. Write the code in JavaScript and use the same .js files in ActionScript
2) Write the code in one language and perform a conversion into the other
I know it's possible to communicate between Flash/ActionScript and JavaScript but I'd like to avoid the overheads in using the technology bridge so this isn't really an option.
How do other people deal with writing and maintaining libraries that do exactly the same thing but in different languages? Specifically how do people do this between JavaScript and ActionScript?
do you know any browser-side component, in HTML/Javascript, Flash, Applet or Silverlight, that would allow source code edition with syntax highlighting and auto-completion.
CodeMirror has a good syntax highlighting support but does not seem to support auto-completion.If no such editor exists do you know any way to implement auto-completion using HTML and javascript or any other browser-side technology ?

View 2 RepliesI actually have two websites on the same domain. say, for example[URL]..flashsite contain the website that is fully flash based while the other is an html based with no flash. what i want is that, if somebody visits my url on [URL]..the javascript should first detect if the plugin is installed in his browser. if yes, then it should take me directly to the "flashsite" folder, and if not, then it should, by default, load the html website.

My client would like to have a button which, when clicked, would open a youtube video in a lightbox frame. I've been looking all around, but all I see that seems workable involves my being able to edit the html page. I am trying to do this with AS3 and Javascript.
