I have just taken over a Flash website for a friend (like two days ago!) He needs me to add a picture to a movie in his website. He likes how the previous designer has the images fading in and out not a slide show, i 10 layers with actions on each) so I figured I could duplicate/copy an existing layer & paste it into a new one... but here is my problem, when I change out the image on the new layer it also changes the image from the copied layer. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to duplicate a timeline layer in Flash CS4, including all keyframes? I use it a lot in Illustrator and Photoshop, but can't find it here. Is there a trick to do this?
Ok, I know layers dont exist once compiled and that duplicated movieclips cannot be duplicated to new levels but I need some kind of work around here.
I cannot use the library as the movieclip I am duplicating is dynamically generated by actionscript (a graph based on user input over time) and thus cannot be made by me beforehand as it varies.
I need to somehow make a duplicate of this on a layer above the where the original was made, anyone know how this is possible?

I am a beginner when it comes to ActionScript. I am currently working on a Slide Show Pro project. Specifically SSP for Flash (AS3) and Director. I have 4 custom buttons at the bottom of the slide show. When I try to place ActionScript on my Action layer for let's say two of the buttons I get an error that says "Duplicate Function Definition." I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image

I'm trying to create a panning feature where the image repeats itself again and again as the image scrolls right or left. It looks as if it is a 360 view of a room. (No warping of sides, just simply repeating the image.)But damn ... how do I duplicate my loaded image so that when the current image starts to scroll off screen, a duplicate one is placed right next to it for a continuous flow?

I created an animated button and copied this six times. i would like to chane the colour of each individual button, but when i do this it changes the colours of all the buttons. how can i do this so it changes the individual the colour of a single button.i need to know how to do this as also later i want to apply different sounds to each button.
The video in my .swf does not play when I copy from one server to another. I do see the skin but it just displays a scrolling timeline bar and no video. I have checked the source parameter in the component inspector and that seems to be fine.
I am able to drag a copy of an object and drop it on the canvas, using drag-drop manager functionality in Flex.
The original object remains unchanged and a new copy of the object is created. However, If i further want to drag this copy and position it differently on the canvas, I find that the object is not draggable.
Since this copy is created at runtime, I am not sure how I can achieve to drag it? [code]...
I am developing a word game using flashDevelop . the game is working fine when I compile and run using flashdevelop and it also working fine when I directly open [swf] file from the source [bin] folder. But the problem is when I try to copy and open [swf] file from other than original location its not working. I have also tried to copy the whole bin directory but that also not working. I am using XML file to load in swf file. I am also using flash [swc] file for fl.controls.package.
I'm loading an image in a UILoader Component (created during runtime). var lb:UILoader = new UILoader(); addChild(lb); Now when I load any image into this then it loads on top of everything.I know this is because it goes over the top of stack. But is there any solution by which i can move it downwards or even at the bottommost layer. I've tried setChildIndex(lb, 0) though but it didn't work.
while trying to make a gallery I come across this problem of wanting do duplicate movieclips containing loaded images. Seems like whatever I do, no duplicates. My original script is bigger, but my problem also shows in this little example. The first created image in the mcClip.Holder shows just fine, also the trace and _x commands work. The clip will just not duplicate .

i've created one flash banner with xml driven to pull the image from the folder. the xml file included with the list of the images name and path,then i'm created the banner using the .loadMovie() function. now,the problem is, i need the banner hold the image from the folder even when the source image was removed, so,the banner just need one time to read the image information, without need to read again the xml and doing the loadMovie again while its run for the 2nd time
[URL].. When I test my flash file, within flash it works properly. But when I upload it my content MCs at the bottom of the page are not showing up. Afghanistan content does show up, but the following countries do not.
I may have made a mistake in the method I tried using... I copied the content MCs into a new flash file, changed names and brought them back into the original file for the next country, to save time...or so I thought. Would that throw it off? I will continue to work on it.
I downloaded an image from the web and brought it into Flash. I then created a new layer and began tracing over the image with the pen tool. When all was said and done, I went to use the paint bucket tool to fill in the sections of the paths I created. My only problem is I can't fill the image. I click and click and no color is being filled. I tried converting the selection to both movie clip and graphic symbols and I still can't fill it in.
