Create An Application That Has Three Movieclips?

I'm trying to create an application that has three movieclips that when rolled over show a movie clip over everything that the user reads then they drag one of three pictures over to the corresponding movieclip. I have the Movieclip alpha down until roll over but i had issues with layer order. If its on top i cant access the drag items beneath it and if its below i cant see it.I tried using swapChild but then it makes it crazy. The DragItem "sticks". It shows up on pages it shouldn't (i have it on one frame but it sticks to everything and i cant get rid of it). It works when im on the current frame so i must be close?

I need to make my Flash application create a connection to a remote application and have the remote application send periodic updates to my Flash animation. The remote app is written in VB 6, and does not support XML sockets. However, I don't need the ability to send or receive XML since I am going to be overriding the onLoad() event anyway.
Or maybe I do need that ability... I'm having trouble getting my onLoad() event to trigger. Right now I'm just testing the onLoad event like this:

So, basically I'm trying to find out how I can format the data I'm sending it so that the onLoad() event triggers. I've read that the XMLSocket object listens for the Null byte, so perhaps the data I'm sending it doesn't terminate properly. I need a persistent connection from Flash to the VB app because the VB app will be the one initiating the updates to the Flash application. Is the XMLSocket the way to go here, or is there another class of objects that I'm missing?

I am trying to port a pure Flash/AS3 card game to Flex 4.5.
It works mostly well, but I'm missing few puzzle parts there:
I've created a custom component based on UIComponent representing a deck of cards (which are an array of Sprites or MovieClips):
In the original pure Flash/AS3 game I was using Tween for the 3 cards at the table - to show the game user, who has put which card (by sliding them towards playing table middle):

However Flash Builder 4.5 doesn't seem to know fl.transitions.* packages at all?
Like I've written the rest (my custom Flex component, moving card-Sprites around, etc.) works well. Only the Tween lines had to be commented.

I'm trying to setup an application that has certain movieclips that have to chance position depending on a selected option. The application basically has the main stage with a movieclip called "Options" and a movieclip called "Objects". The selected options in the movieclip "Options" define what positions the movieclips in the "Objects" movieclip have later on.
I figured that I had to script it so that if I click "Option 1" in the "Options" movieclip, that it defined 2 variables called "option1_x" and option1_y" and when selecting Object 1 in the movieclip "Objects", that it would set the X and Y values of "Object 1" to .x=object_x and .y=object_y
However, I'm rather new to AS3 (read: very new) and I'm struggling to figure out how to get this to work, because my attempts so far have been.. rather bad.What I have right now is this for the "Options" movieclip:

Just curious to know if empty movie clips or sprite can slow down a application or game.Reason being is because I want to use multiple sprites as containers for my object. So I can easy manage what objects are in front of others. Some points in the game, layers will be empty so I am just curious if I should just make those layers null if they arent being used or will that even make a big difference

I'm trying to create a flash application where the user can add points (I call them draggers) and he can move those points around an image. What needs to happen is that I will use these points and their coordinates to change the image.
What I need help on is how to accomlish the rotation. Let's say the user has added three points on the stage, and they want to rotate the three points along the center of whatever triangle they form.

I was wondering how to make a .fla file to be opened and read by flash and have all the elements required using my own program.the motivation behind this is that i want to create a whole lot of swf files that are all pretty similar but won't ever just be slight modifcations to a base file... that and it requires a lot of data to place certain objects in places and set their keyframes to specific things etc.so i wanted to automate creating the .fla files. how to create a .fla file without flash?

Is it possible to create an application that can add effects similar to what shape collage does? I know, it was made using java. Could something like that be built using as3?My idea is that it uses alpha to know, where to start adding the shapes. In php its possible to read every pixel of an image, to check its color, so we can know if it is alpha or not, so i think there is something similar in as3. The images could be uploaded thru filerefence.

The form field is called "formContent". This returns both traces no matter the input so it must be a problem with the structure but I can't see it.

My idea is to be able to have a number of different objects on the side of the stage, kind of in a toolbar, then to be able to click (and thus select) one of them and place it another area in the room with another click (basically placing it, deselecting it and fixing it in place where I clicked).
I'd then like to be able to re-click it and reposition it by dragging, if I so wish.

A while ago, we created a replacement shell to run as a front end for a cybercafe. It was nothing fancy; just a flash movie that had button links to IE and a few trusted applications.
I'm trying to develop it further now and am wondering two things:
1. Is it possible to send an application to a frame within a movie? For example, have a static movie at the top with links, then when a button is pressed, the menu remains but the application opens below without overlapping. I know I can use HTML and frames but really want to keep it all in one movie/swf.
2. Is it possible to build on the above and have some sort of application lister that will allow you to switch between the two applications you have running. For example, a user may opem IE, the open Word. Word has now replaced IE and I want the user to have a simple click button to go back to an existing window rather than open another instance from the menu.

I'm trying to create a module for a flex application, and I want to send notifications to clients. I've been looking at the BlazeDS messaging service to push out the notifications to clients, but I want to be able to send certain updates to certain clients. The Flex notification framework doesn't seem to allow this - if we have a field in the message with a value of the user's user id for example, any client could theoretically subscribe to all messages for any given user id, and there's no verification on the server side to make sure that the client that has subscribed is logged in as that user id.Is there something I've missed here, or is the best way to handle this writing my own polling mechanism on the client side?

I would like to create a scrolling effect on one of my MovieClips. In Javascript I'd simply create two divs, one positioned absolutely in the other, and have the surrounding one have the style 'overflow: none'. Now I want to achieve the same in ActionScript, as shown in the following picture:
When I try to set the size of the surrounding MovieClip the contents just get 'squashed'. I want it to stay the same and the parts outside of the 'rectangle to be hidden outside of the MovieClip.

I create various movieClips with TextFields in them using the following function.

Lets say that I use the above function with the following statement:
JimMC = AddLabel("JimVision",1);
Then I try to assign a string to the above movieClip with some embedded html like so:
JimMC.txt.htmlText = "This is my test < a href='http://bogus.com'>link</ a>.";
When I try to run the above the results come out blank. When I list my variables I do see that my TextField is being assign the text and html code. What I also notice is that the textWidth and textHeight value become zero.why my results are blank? Why do the textWidth and textHeight values become zero?

the code places 10 movieclips on stage and gives them name ranging from snipper1 to snipper10, now I want to display in each movieclip the correct image and tekst, which is given by the XML file, so for movieclip snipper 1, image snipper1.png and tekst Theme1 should be displayed.p.s. I am using flex4, I am seeking the answer to create multi window web application. My application is some sort of complex, currently I only know using PopupManager to create a new window.Should I create each MXML for each window that I want to instantiate? And then load the mxml and put it into the stage? Is there any tutorial describing that? I want the program modular and easy to manager, extend.
The current way I am using is use Group to group up all the controls inside a window, and if user want to open that window, I will display the group and bring it to the front. Is it the right way to do windowing? But I can't support drag.
I want to know if there is any native support for draggable window, or dialog?
Also till now all the controls are put inside a single mxml file, is it possible to put one window(or one group) to be a separate mxml file?
