ActionScript 3.0 :: Create Dynamic MovieClips From Xml?
Feb 1, 2009
the code places 10 movieclips on stage and gives them name ranging from snipper1 to snipper10, now I want to display in each movieclip the correct image and tekst, which is given by the XML file, so for movieclip snipper 1, image snipper1.png and tekst Theme1 should be displayed.p.s. Does it make sense to import the XMLNode and XMLNodeType class for this purpose??I have this code:
I need to create a navigation scheme with a dynamic list of movieclips that cycles, the user being able to cycle through the list left or right seamlessly.For example, say there are 12 items in the list, and at any given time three of them are to be displayed, with the center one being the focus/selected item. If the user clicks on the center/focus item, it takes them to a page, no trouble. If they click on the one to the left of the focus item, the list slides right, with the clicked one becoming the new center, focus item.
So, now say that the three visible items are 10, 11, and 12 in our array. If the user clicks on number 12, the list will slide left, with number 12 becoming the focus, and the goal would be to have item number 1 become the new, right-most item in the display - thus, the visible three would be 11, 12, 1. If the user then clicked on one, the cycle would continue, making number 1 the focus and the visible items would be 12, 1, 2. This should work seamlessly at both extremes of the list.
So in one instance, I have created a single movieclip that contains all of the items in the list, plus four extra at the end, to allow the appearance of seamlessness; when the user got to the end, the entire clip jumped to the start. This works, more or less, but it's clunky and I need to find a better way.
I have a movie clip that is dropped onto my main scene, and I have the AS below as the frame's AS.
The concept is simple: Create dynamic empty movieclips, position them, fill them, make them clickable. The code under "//////////////////////////////////////Code below here doesn't work" isn't working. The code worked fine when attempting to do this on my main scene, but I ran across some interface issues that caused me to put them into anorther MC. I understand that I only included the code for the first button, right now I would like to get at least one working.
I'm getting crazy with this error and found no solution until now. Well, the issue consist in create dynamic movieclips and external jpgs into a for loop through xml nodes and add the respective image into that movieclip.
I'm trying to create an application that has three movieclips that when rolled over show a movie clip over everything that the user reads then they drag one of three pictures over to the corresponding movieclip. I have the Movieclip alpha down until roll over but i had issues with layer order. If its on top i cant access the drag items beneath it and if its below i cant see it.I tried using swapChild but then it makes it crazy. The DragItem "sticks". It shows up on pages it shouldn't (i have it on one frame but it sticks to everything and i cant get rid of it). It works when im on the current frame so i must be close?
here is what my code is currently:
//This is the graphic that i want them to hover over to call the movie clip to show msdsHover_mc.buttonMode=true; msdsHover_mc.addEventListener( MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,
I would like to create a scrolling effect on one of my MovieClips. In Javascript I'd simply create two divs, one positioned absolutely in the other, and have the surrounding one have the style 'overflow: none'. Now I want to achieve the same in ActionScript, as shown in the following picture:
When I try to set the size of the surrounding MovieClip the contents just get 'squashed'. I want it to stay the same and the parts outside of the 'rectangle to be hidden outside of the MovieClip.
Is there a way I can create these clips and add them to an array in a loop ? It doesn't seem to want to work for me.. ?
var p1 = new P1; var p2 = new P2; var p3 = new P3; var p4 = new P4; var p5 = new P5; var p6 = new P6; var p7 = new P7; var p8 = new P8; var p9 = new P9; var p10 = new P10; var p11 = new P11; var p12 = new P12; var p13 = new P13; var p14 = new P14; var p15 = new P15; var p16 = new P16; var p17 = new P17; var p18 = new P18; var p19 = new P19; var p20 = new P20;
I create various movieClips with TextFields in them using the following function.
function AddLabel(Label,L) // create a MovieClip with a Text Field. { obj = this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc" + L,L);[code].....
Lets say that I use the above function with the following statement:
JimMC = AddLabel("JimVision",1);
Then I try to assign a string to the above movieClip with some embedded html like so:
JimMC.txt.htmlText = "This is my test < a href='http://bogus.com'>link</ a>.";
When I try to run the above the results come out blank. When I list my variables I do see that my TextField is being assign the text and html code. What I also notice is that the textWidth and textHeight value become zero.why my results are blank? Why do the textWidth and textHeight values become zero?
hi, below is some code I am using to load buttons from an xml doc, the xml part is working and the buttons are place on the stage. I am having trouble with accesssing the individual movie clips. in the function showtitle you will see the error messages I get. I am assigning the names a0, a1 and a2 to the movieclips if I use a trace statement in marker it gives the movieclips names as being a0 a1 and a2..
i'm having a problem with a for loop. The problem is that it doesn't create multiple movieclips with an unique instance, i think it copies over itself.
for( var i = 1, x = -20; i < 4; i++){ if(this['plaatje' +i] != undefined){ _root.again.createEmptyMovieClip("image", i);
Since i use more and more as in my flashfiles my way of building a flash website has changed. for example i create only buttons from Movieclips and not button MC's
But when i want to attach a sound i know the code of attachsound but i can't find out how to use it.
Is there someone who can help me a bit.
[Code]...
But it hink it's wrong, but on the other side i don't know how to do it on another way?
I was wondering if there is a tutorial on how to create a one frame website using movieclips as my pages instead of the seperate movies. In other words, I read this tutorial on this site :[URL]..
but i want my pages to be movieclips instead of seperate flash movies. Is there a tutorial for that? or can someone help me with the code to do that? The code for the tutorial is well-commented but I'm still a little lost...
This is a great tutorial for all Flash web designers/developers and good to have under your belt, so guys, let's figure this out together to be great actionscripters..
i'm having a problem with a for loop. The problem is that it doesn't create multiple movieclips with an unique instance, i think it copies over itself.
for( var i = 1, x = -20; i < 4; i++){ if(this['plaatje' +i] != undefined){ _root.again.createEmptyMovieClip("image", i); this._root.again.image += _root.again["image" +i];
I've created an XML thumbnail gallery, and would dearly love to add a simple looping preloader animation to each of the thumbnails whilst they are still loading. I'm struggling to remove the preloader movieclip, once the corresponding image has been loaded.
I'm currently creating the new movieclips within the loop, so I'm having problems referencing them in the following load complete function. I gave naming the "spin_loader" instances a go (i.e. spin_loader.name = "spin" + i), and then trying to remove it in the "thumbLoaded" function ( i.e. project_mc.removeChild(getChildByName("spin" + spinNum)), where spinNum is the equivalent number to "i"), but I just can't seem to crack it.
Code:
function createThumbs() { for (var i:Number = 0; i<my_total_project; i++)
I want to create dynamic movieclips inside another dymanic movieclips.Here's what I came up with:
Code: function prepararConteudos():void { for (var j:uint = 1; j<=numMenuWeb; j++)
[code]....
I'm adding a child to "fundoConteudo_mc" with the instance "mc_contentor", which works fine. But when I try to add a child to "mc_contentor" i keep getting the "A term is undefined and has no properties" error.
I am trying to simplify things by using dynamic MovieClip names. I have three MovieClips on the stage.
1) mcPage1 2) mcPage2a 3) mcPage2b
But my code isn't working. I'm guessing the "this" part is what is messing it up. Thinking that the computer doesn't know which MC is "this". It traces fine outside the function, but inside the function it traces undefined.[code]
After a click event I want to dynamically create 2 movieclips with the sequential number in their name, e.g. mc_001 & mv_001 so that I can 'link' them together later on.How can I create a movieclip with a dynamic name?I am trying to use this at the moment:Code:var movieclip["name"+dynamicNumber]:MovieClip = new MovieClip();I can't use an array unless someone can tell me how to access it across multiple classes...
i've been working on a project based on this tutorial: [URL]it's an interactive/searchable bibliography. Search for an author, get a list of papers all writen by that author. in this list of results, i want to add a button linking to a pdf. i've done projects in the past linking to pdfs via .exe/.bat files but never dynamically. i've learned how to add <img src> code to link to library movieClips, but i can't figure out how to add functionality to said movieClips. is there a tutorial, where i could learn how to have the XML file tell flash not only to add a specific movieClip, but how that movieClip behaves (ie - which pdf to link to).
I have a flash file with about 32 empy MovieClips on the stage.Basically what I need to do is take an array of images and load them into these empty MovieClips. Hope this makes sense so far.This array will be dynamic and will come from a PHP file.The problem is I'm not sure how to do this? I don't know to take an array in flash and allocate the images to individual MovieClips.
I have a dynamic text box in a movieclip called ScoreText. On the root timeline I have a variable called "Scorevar". I used "ScoreMC.ScoreText.text = Scorevar;" to display the score, however it won't change. It just stays at zero.
I found lots of links to creating 1 moveclip dynamically but not to create multiple move clips. I am trying to create 10 empty movieclips dynamically, but I cannot seem to get my script to work. This is what I came up with and does not work: var i; for (i=0; i<10; i++) { var myMC["myMC"+i]:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); myMC["myMC"+i].name = "mc"+i; addChild("mc"+i); } Why this does not work/how do I make it work?
how can i dynamically to create movieclips and addimages inside of them.I'm using this code to load images from XML. I need this so i could add hand cursor on the movie clips.[code]
I want to create a grid of movieclips using an array. But every movieclip added needs some sort of unique idenifier so i can access each individual movieclip.
The grid is 6 movieclips on the Y and variable on the X(that doesnt really matter to be honest)
I have managed to create an Array that displays 6 movieclips on the Y using this [code]...
now i tried creating another class and storing the 6 tickets i made in this class in another movieclip and then using the same method in the other class (i called it Ticket_Batch) i created another row of 6 movieclips. although this kind of worked visually i could no longer access each individual ticket.
my question is: how do i create a 6 x 36(or any other multiple of 6) grid of my movieclips in the same class using an array (or 2 arrays) and giving each movieclip an instance name that i can access and use?
