Delay In Button Action - Doesn't React To The Mouse For Some Seconds Into The Movie

May 19, 2009

I'm experiencing an annoying issue with a movie clip button. The movie clip is linked to a class which adds a rollover and rollout effect. The issue I'm having is that, even though the button is in frame 1, the button doesn't react to the mouse for some seconds into the movie. The only thing I can think is that it's the class itself, but I'm not certain. Here's the class:-

I have a simple code:

I am wondering if when the user clicks, is there any way to delay this action from occurring for a few seconds? For example, if the user clicks, this action won't happen for 2 seconds. Is there any code I can add before or around it to make this happen?

IDE :: Buttons - Navigation Action Doesn't Occur Until Release The Mouse Button

Feb 3, 2011

I have three buttons on screen that navigate to different places on the timeline. I have set them all up as buttons using a generic button in the library and then given them all different instance names. I selected the button and changed the text colour for each state in the timeline (up, over, down) to keep it simple. The buttons are all, as far as I can analyse, identical in all but instance name.

When I test the movie, the first button changes text colour on 'over' and, when I click (i.e. down state) the colour changes again as designed. The navigation action doesn't occur until I release the mouse button, giving the feel of having 'clicked' the button.

With the other two buttons, which have been set up as far as I can tell in exactly the same way, when the down state occurs, I see a momentary flash of the text colour change and it performs the nav straight away. I really want it to perform the same way as the first button but cannot for the life of me see why they're behaving differently.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Delay Button A For 2 Seconds On Click Of B?

Feb 7, 2009

I'm using tweenMax and I want a tween to start after the mouse has been hovering over the button for about 2 seconds.

Now, I have figured out the 'delay' function but that is not that useful because it just registers the fact that the mouse is over the button and starts the tween 2 seconds later, regardless of where the mouse is on the screen.I basically want the button to become active after the mouse has been over it for 2 seconds.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Delay Action Of Button To URL?

Dec 20, 2010

Created button that activates short animation AND ALSO connects to URL.

I want viewer to see full animation (26 frames that lasts about 1.5 seconds - 18 frames per second). Instead the button connects almost instantaneously to URL and viewer does not see animation.

Animation automatically plays (full loop - 26 frames) when viewer first opens swf/html. The same animation plays again when viewer clicks button to go to URL.

Is there some code in AS3 that can delay the connection to the URL until the 26th frame of the animation.I am beginner/intermediate to Flash and extreme novice to Action Script (get most of my AS coding from searches online). Need to be led by my hand in Action Script.[code]...

I need the image to display after 15 seconds, and then stay. I have read to use gettimer or setInterval, but I'm not sure how to do it in my particular case. In very rough terms, I need something like this:

onEnterFrame:
setInterval to 15000 and then
_root.button.gotoAndPlay(2); (this will display my image)

Make Entire Group React On Mouse Over / Not Individual Movie Clips Themselves

Dec 10, 2009

i have a bunch of movie clips and in order to make them rotate the way i want i have grouped them together, made the entire group into a movie clip and applied the motion tween. I'm trying to code it so that when i mouse over the movie clips WITHIN the group movie clip, something happens. How would i go about it? All i can work out is how to make the entire group react on mouse over, not the individual movie clips themselves.

Professional :: Mouse Proximity Action On Button?

Feb 5, 2010

I am trying to help my colleague figure out how to make a button act like the Mac buttons do.  In other words, when your mouse gets closer to a button, they will steadily grow larger.  He found a piece of code, so i put it in my FLA file, closed my eyes, then peeked and hoped it worked.  It didn't.

I have attached the FLA to this message.  If you remove the top portion of the code [the portion between the // lines], you will see the file works fine as the buttons will advance frames.  But when i put the top piece of code back [the piece my colleague gave me] i get error messages.bottom line is - what we're trying to do is make those triangle buttons "grow" as the mouse moves closer to them [like Mac buttons do].

ActionScript 3.0 :: Modify This Menu To React To Mouse Position?

It works by clicking on menu items, and or using your mouse wheel.

I am trying to make it so that it responds to mouse movement. So if you mouse up, the menu moves up, and if you mouse down, it moves down.

The file populates the menu using xml, and below is the primary code that makes it work.

Every mouseposition functionality that I've worked on required that the content be in an MC, but this is all xml generated content, and I don't know how to target or control it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Simple Timer - Delay For 20 Seconds (IF Statement)

Apr 19, 2004

I'm building a continous move in flash, and I'm displaying some text and images and want to hold the timeline for about 20 seconds and then resume play again. I'm trying to write a simple timer in AS to keep from having to create 10000 frame long movie clips. Here's what I have so far:

stop();
this.onEnterFrame {
time = getTimer();
if (time == 20) {
play();
}}

Unfortunately, this isn't working for me, and 'm unsure why. I suspect two things,
A: my "time" var takes only a snapshot value of the timer and not a continuous value, so the timer never reaches the value of 20. Or,
B: I have somesort of syntax wrong and the if never gets a chance to load.
