I've been struggling to get some absolutely positioned overlays to show above an flv movie(using flowplayer) in the firefox browser(works in safari)I have the overlays div placed underneath the video html "wrapper" and have tried using a high z-index on the overlays but to no avail. Is there anything i may be doing wrong? Or another trick i could try?
View 2 RepliesI have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

I have a Flash movie and a list of links. The links display underneath the Flash movie. It works in IE but not FireFox:http:[url]..........Here are the layers: layer 1 is flash content, layer 2 is the links:

The Flash movie is simply a graphic with a transparent spot in the middle.I've attached the fla, swf, and html files as well. I'm using swfObject for the embedding of the Flash content.
Weirdness today while trying to get Flash to load some external content (PHP, XML and images). It works fine in everything except Firefox on a PC (Even in IE! What a world! But I digress...). I've got a SWF that loads an external PHP file, along with an external XML file, which in turn references external images to be loaded. When I look at the Net panel in Firebug, it's showing that the SWF is loading, but none of the other external files are getting pulled. Anybody know why? I'm using Flash 10.3 in Firefox 7 and Chrome 14. I have some HTML and Flash content where the Flash, containing complex vector drawings with a transparent background, is layered overtop of the HTML. I use Flashes wmode=transparent setting to allow the HTML content underneath to be seen through Flash.

Situation: Got a flash object with an icon bar (div with pngs) on top of it. Works on all browsers except Firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu 8. Example: http://ListAndPlay.com

I'm developing a Flash application which is communicating with Javascript to allow more features such as custom html input etc., by placing an absolute positioned div on top of the flash application and controlling it's position etc. with Flash & Javascript.
Because these html elements have to appear above the flash content, I figured the following basic css would be enough to do the trick:

So, the htmlContent has a higher z-index than the flash content and thus it should be shown above it. Unfortunately, this only seems to work when you set the Flash object's "wmode" parameter to "transparent".
The problem with this setting is that it's seriousely decreasing the application's framerate to an unacceptable amount.
For static content this does not seem to be a problem, however for my application there's all kinds of elements that you can drag around which have to be moved real-time (while moving the mouse).
So, how do I enable html content on top of flash content without using the "transparent" wmode parameter or how do I optimize framerate when using the "transparent" wmode parameter?
Basically, I have a DIV, which I've set to z-index: 100. I have an iframe which I set to z-index: 0. My 100 div is ontop of the frame on a normal webpage, but I have to load a flash page in the frame. Unfortunately the flash in the frame shows overtop of my 100 DIV. I can't set the z-index of the flash object because I don't control that webpage!

However, if shockwave flash turned off in Firefox, it won't fallback into image and show bunch of characters instead looking like "CWS..." All other browsers fallback to the image. I verified that we serve application/x-shockwave-flash MIME type on our server.

I have built a Flash site and also set it up with alternate content so it can be viewed on iPhone and iPad as well as other mobile devices. It works great everywhere but in FireFox the site's swf loads on the page twice.Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, what have you done to work around this FireFox bug?

Currently, the facebook plugin is displayed briefly before the flash starts loading then it disappears after the page is loaded. What do I need to do for the plugin to display on the webpage in order to look like it is part of the flash site?[url]...
The green background of the facebook plugin and position is just temp for testing purposes until I can get this page to display properly.

I have a html page with flash content named map.html, and I like to include it into another page named soporte.html (which extends base.html page) through {% include %} tag. The html has about a 300 pixel space where I can a flash "launcher" movie (with a html menu bar beside it) and I would like to open a 600 pixel flash movie above everything else on the page (html menu bar and all) but not using a traditional popup window or browser window of any kind (so there will be no issue with popup blockers).

I'm having a problem with a finished flash piece where, in the most simple scenario, if the user screen size is very small, the background html comes up over the bottom of the flash movie and covers a portion of it. The effect can also be seen if you resize the browser window down fairly small. I want the user the be able to see all the content fine, even if they have to scroll a lot to achieve it. I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.
