I'm trying to make a flash website that has clickable buttons that will play different movie clips. But I dont know how to make it to just play the movie clip with the button you click without playing all the movie clips on the main timeline.

I would like to know how to make it so when you click a button, it goes to a different frame within a MOVIE CLIP. Kind of like gotoAndPlay but not a frame in the timeline. I would like it to move to a different frame in a movie clip.

The jpg can be long, and should scroll.It works fine locally, and worked fine before I loaded a jpg (when I had the jpg in the swf), but on the live site it only works when I click a menu item the second time. Before that the scrollpane does not load. I wait around thinking its a loading time issue but this does not seem to be the case

The scenario: Imagine a horizontal drop down menu. That menu is a transparent SWF. For it to have a drop down I need to set the movie dimensions for something like width: 1000px; height: 250px; Those 250px will overlap an html slider. Users won't be able to click the slider because the flash movie has a higher z-index.

I have a flash movie embedded on a webpage, it's an intro of sorts, when the movie has finished it removes itself from the DOM but I also want this functionality on flash movie click.so far to remove it after it's finished playing I'm using[code]but it never gets called. I also tried adding the click event to the body and it worked everywhere but not over the top of the flash movie.

This obviously isn't a problem when it comes to tracking the clicks on the image itself (i track the click on the parent DIV tag. However, it fails when the advert is an SWF, as I suspected it would.Is there a jQuery workaround that would allow me to capture a click on a Flash element with the DOM?

View 3 RepliesI have a problem with the startDrag function I'm using in AS3. Right now I have a movie clip which is made up of 4 different layers. I export the movie clip, create and object of it, add in an event listener for mouse clicks that calls the startDrag function. However, instead of dragging the entire Movie Clip and all of its parts, it only grabs and drags one layer around, which breaks the different parts of the Movie Clip up.

This is my function for the MouseClick event on the MovieClip. I initiate the startDrag event, but here it will not drag the entire Move Clip for some reason it only drags the different pieces inside the clip.
I am trying to make a flash app where you click a movie clip (a picture frame) and a picture gallery pops up.Here is what I have so far. Click the Picture Frame movie clip and a shape tweens (for 24 frames) out to make the background for the gallery and I have a new key frame with a picture on it and left and right buttons. Then I have key frames following the first picture that just have images in them.At this point I use stop(); on that frame and stop the movieclip on the first picture. Now I'm trying to get the buttons to go forwards and backwards. It seems an easy enough task, I just can't figure out how to get the currentFrame and the totalFrames for my movie clip symbol.[code]I have also noticed that even when I replace the entire function with nextFrame (); it only restarts the movie clip symbol from the shape tween up to the first keyframe with a picture.

However the flash movie is changing the mouse cursor to hand-cursor when passing the mouse on it, and also it is allowing users to click on the movie, while I wanted to leave the mouse cursor to remain as an arrow, and prevent users from clicking on it, I tried the following code, whereby I used another flash movie to call the dewslider swf, but in IE it is not working, although in firefox it is ok..[code]...

I have been using the code from:[url]to get the months and days working, and have todays date highlighted. Now i need to work out a way that i can set this up to call a flash movie onto a higher level which contains the events of the day you click on. [URL] once it loads, if you click any of the links (keyholders crab button, travel button, or opportunity button), and proceed to the page, and then click "back" on the browser, the flash does not reload, or "replay". The only way to get it to replay is to right click the flash player, and click "play".

- i have 3 separate movie clips (a,b,c)
- my main movie is (a) and when i click a button there, it will go to external movie (b)
- under external movie (b) there's a movie clip that includes my animation and content button
- if i click on the content button on movie (b), external movie (c) will pop up [ it will not replace movie (b) but will just overlap it, it's like a small pop up ]
i did the actionscript and when i'm testing external movie (b), it's working... it's showing/popping up movie (c) but when i tried it on the main movie (a), the movie (c) is not popping on the (b) err, sorry if it's a bit confusing / how i explained it. but hopefully somebody will get the idea. and it won't also return on the main movie (a) when i click on a link from the external movie.
I have a movie clip (a) with a button that will load movie clip (b) when clicked. It loads (b) on top of (a) which is exactly what i want.

View 5 RepliesI found a flash movie on the internet and I modified it to meet my needs and works perfectly, but when I uploaded to my website it doesn't load correctly: it should have load the spiral carousel photoslide but instead it loads only the background photo. The flash movie is inside a folder with all the flash files included including the actionscript files, I uploaded that folder to my website and in my index.html page I've put my flash movie.
View 3 RepliesI'm in the process of building a Flash Electronic Press Kit. Anyways, I converted a Video I had of him from WMV to FLV and then imported into Flash CS3. It played fine when I uploaded it to the server on the computer I had it on. But anyone else who looks at it has told me that they're stuck at the waiting screen for ages and It doesn't load at all.
