View 4 RepliesI would want to catch click with javascript on a embed flash object on my page. I used wmode="opaque" (tried transparent too) and put a low z-index. I tried catching click on a div, on the object element and on the embed element. On FF (5), all three of them work. On IE (7 & 8), none of them work. Here's my code (I removed some attribute for flash like type or classid) :

Recently struggling with weird IE9 + Flash problem I came over multiple advices to use classid and codebase attributes specifically for IE. But couldn't find any explanation of why they might be required or what they simply do. Any good writeup on this topic anywhere? Side-question: Can I just make classid value up out of my head or it should be generated according to some rules?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to find a way to embed a live video stream on a webpage accessible via the internet. I have my video server setup so that multicast streaming over my LAN works. The only problem I face now is figuring out how to embed the live video object into my webpage. I am wondering if I could use a converter like ffmpeg and flex to accomplish this? If this is not the right place to post this, just let me know and I'll repost in the proper place.
View 2 RepliesI have a flash-based ad that displays/hides based on some javascript. It works in Firefox, Safari, Chrome ... but not in Internet Explorer 8. This is for donations to a non-profit during the holiday season,

I added a SWC with movieclip assets to my flash builder project. I can access all movieclips with dot syntax but when I try to access my textfields it throws an error saying it is cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
Here is my code:
// gameMenuLevels is a main asset.
this.object = new gameMenuLevels();
This all works fine, I can go two levels deep:
var levelString:String = "level" + Utils.zeroPad(i + 1, 3);
var level:MovieClip = this.object[levelString] as MovieClip;
var bronze:MovieClip = level.bronze as MovieClip;
But when I try to get my textfield:
(bronze.getChildByName("levelNumber") as TextField)
I've got various flash files stored on my server. For this example - here is the directory structure:
Files > Example >
-> example.swf
-> example.xml
So then on a separate webpage stored in the root of my server.. I'm embedding the flash.
<param name="movie" value="[URL]">
Now the issue comes. Because the .swf is trying to access example.xml ... which is NOT stored in the root directory.
Can i use javascript to check whether the video is running or stopped? I have to loop the video but putting loop='true' in the embed doesnt work out well. Is there a javascript method to check if the video is running or stopped?
View 1 RepliesSo I am using this code to embed my .swf file. I am creating classes for each asset in my library.
[Embed('assets/assets.swf', symbol='game.menu.levels')]
public static const LEVELS_MENU:Class;
It works just fine but how can I access a child element multiple depths down?

I need to access data from internet using :
insert_lv.sendAndLoad("http://www.datalocation.com/data.php", result_lv, "POST");
It doesn't work. I've searched about this problem and found it as security issue. It can be solved by using :
System.security.allowDomain("www.yourswflocation.c om");
But it only works if you put your swf in server (www.yourswflocation.com). In my case, my swf is desktop application. I dont put it in any server. How can i access the data from internet?
Here's the scenario: We have a creative team that operates in Flash CS5.5 and produces SWF assets which have both graphics elements and actionscript code in them, and an engineering team which authors .as files and builds "code SWFs". The code SWF files must load or embed the creative assets and interact with the code therein for our apps to function.
For iOS mobile development, there is another consideration - it is not possible to load runtime code in an AIR app packages for iOS because of Apple TOS (see related question). Hence, it is not possible to use a Loader to load SWFs in an iOS environment and retain their code.
Embedding a SWF into an ActionScript file the standard way results in a Loader that loads the embedded SWF directly as bytes. This results in access to the top-level, main timeline as follows:

I have a folder full of SWF files. Each SWF is its own animation. I have several people submitting their animations for this project. I would like to embed all these SWF's into my project and use .play() .stop() and other movieclip related commands on them as a whole. By this I mean, the artist sends me the SWF, my AS3 script embeds it, then I can access it with say animation_1.stop(); without the artist ever having to enter a instance name, or export for ActionScript name.
I plan to create a shell script which will take all the swf's in a folder and create a AS3 file with all the embed statements. The instance name that will be given to each one by the shell script will be the file name. Is this possible to embed a SWF and access it without giving any movie clips instance names or exporting for Actionscript? UPDATE: @annonymously answer below helped a lot. Here are some other resources that helped me: Great Resource - [URL]
Following embed code is from [URL] but it doesn't work in Internet Explorer 8. Firefox no problems. Any recommendations for improvements?

UPDATE 2010-05-14: If I'm not mistaken HD.se uses Flowplayer and all those flasvars are for that. Perhaps someone here is good with Flowplayer? I've never used it myself.
I'm now trying to move from Flash to Flex. Beginner to Flex.And I get troubled.'m searching for the internet for whole day for "how to Embed font dynamically". But I can't see any text rendered on my textField.

So i have an external as file which have a function. the function make the movie clip do something when it hit another object which i named "block."
but the external as file can't accses "block" movie clip which's added from the fla files and given an instance name as "block".
At the end of the movie I would like to check if the user is still connected to the Internet (they maybe on an unstable dial-up connection and lost connection). Is there anyway to do that? I mean, is there a way to check if a user is connected to the Internet using ActionScript?

I have a flex 3 project with a root mx:Application. The width and the height are set to pct values, because the application has several sizes that can be chosen by the user, so the correct size is set on the embed's width attribute.
how to access the value in that attribute. I read in several places that this.root.loaderInfo.width should give me that value, but it always returns 500, which I am guessing comes from the default application container width [URL].
I realize I could pass it as a flashvar, but that is not a good solution in this case due to the nature of the project. I've also tried pplication.application.width, stage.width, and stage.stageWidth, to name a few. I can't depend on any of those values, since they change based on the browser zoom level.
I want to make a synchronous request to a server. I want the entire program to stop processing anything until the request is complete and the server has responded; what is the proper way of doing this?

[Embed(source="C:WINDOWSFontsVERDANA.TTF", fontName="VERDANA", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype", flashType = true)]
But there is no change in the appearance of the Text whatsoever.. I need the text to be crisp and clear.Just like the way it looks when we embed the fonts using the Embed... Button in the Flash IDE.
if there is a way to allow the page content to still be clickable with a flash animation the size of the webpage over it. I have a flash animation the size of my page that is a loading wave that drops to the bottom of the page after a few seconds but even though its dropped and the page content is visible.. i cannot click anything.
View 2 RepliesIt is possible to block a link from flash object? (Link is hardcoded inside a flash object).
View 3 RepliesI building a C# application with a WebBrowser control in it and and I am trying to figure out a way to get the flash content within the web page to not display as it is sucking up a ton of my CPU and memory. I've been trying to remove the <object> tag within the page (there's only one) by getting it via browser.Document.GetElementsByTagName("object") and setting its outerHtml to an empty string. It returns one element (confirmed by the Count property) but accessing the first element ([0]) gives an index out of range error. I've tried doing it via a foreach loop but nothing happens at all and there are no errors. If I try to retrieve <div> elements instead of <object> elements, the foreach loop runs. Am I doing something wrong here, is there a bug, or is there a better way to remove the flash content?
[Code]...
EDIT: I just figured out that while the DocumentCompleted event is being called, it is being called before JavaScript injects the flash content onto the page. I've tried a few "sleeping"-like methods but they all stop the web page from processing too. Any way to wait for more time (5 seconds or so) while the webpage continues to render?
i'm getting continuous errors of:
Symbol=sprite 415, layer=Layer 22, frame=1, Line 7 Statement block must be terminated by '}'
Symbol=sprite 415, layer=Layer 22, frame=1, Line 28 Syntax error.
I also have a few problem with my quicklink menu.
1. Quick link (sprite 164)
a. How do I create the link when I click at Zedma E-Store it will go [URL]
b. Why I cannot click on Contact menu, I already add the actionscript on this button, but it look like Im missing somewhere else.
2. Contact Form (sprite 415)
a. When I trying to type my name Faizal the screen will display FaiZal, what should I do
b. I cannot type @ on email address on e-mail address column
c. I only can type no.0,2,3,5 on Your Telephone: column
I have two SWFs: a Loader SWF, and a Loaded SWF. I need to add the Loaded SWF to the display hierarchy, but I don't want to give it free access to the stage. It may, for instance, attempt to change the scaleMode, and I don't want that to happen. What are some good methods for restricting loaded content's access to the stage? I may, for instance, want to allow it to access the stageWidth and stageHeight, but not the scaleMode or align.
Additional Constraints. I can't change anything about the Loaded SWF. Both SWFs are in the local-with-file-system sandbox. These SWFs are both Flash Player 10, ActionScript 3, made in Flash Professional. Not AIR, not Flex. I'd love to be able to implement a proxy class or a getter to somehow intercept calls to the stage, but I don't believe there is any way to.
I don't believe, for example, that you can subclass the Stage class and use that subclass in place of the normal Stage object referenced by the stage property in all MovieClips. The stage property is read-only, so it can't be cross-scripted by the Loader to point to something different.
The basic idea is that I have a string that contains a user's comment, which could potentially contain URLs, so I wanted to take a string like:"Gee, the folks in the Url...And using pattern replace, replace the URL with an HTML hyperlink, so the string would end up being:[code]So my question is how can I alter the pattern replace code so that it accommodates a string containing random text, as well as a URL.
View 1 RepliesIn Flash you have the option to embed only certain unicode blocks of selected font. Those characters will then be available in your project.Which unicode block is needed to display certain latin-based language? It's obvious in cases like Greek or Hebrew but what latin extension do I need for German, Danish or Czech language?
