Flash - Calculate Mono/Complementary/Triadic/Analogous From Specific Color

Mar 10, 2010

I know this is possible to be done using javascript, and I presume I could get the values to flash calling js, but I'm looking for any AS3 library/code that does the same.

Flash :: Calculate The X & Y Coords - Width And Height Of Specific Piece Of Text Inside A PDF Document

Oct 28, 2010

On my website, I display uploaded PDF files in a flash player for my users to read. I already use various tools to extract the text and produce a serious of high quality images from the file and the system works well. The last piece of the puzzle is to be able to highlight specific parts of the document to help users with accessibility issues.

However I cannot figure out how to calculate where the specific text is positioned on the page? Notes: The documents uploaded to the system are from 3rd parties, so fonts may be embedded. Meaning that I cannot be sure of the width of specific letters. The text to be highlighted may not be unique, the same text may be repeated How can I calculate the coordinates, height and width of a specific piece of text on a PDF, so that I can then draw a box around it?

Flash - Change The Color Of A DisplayObject When It Moves In A Specific Zone?

May 17, 2011

I am coding a graphical interface using Flex, and I have a qestion related to masks in Flash.I want to create a kind of mask that defines which color and which alpha value a text will have according to its position on the screen. It is very easy to do that with the text being the mask of a bitmap, for instance.

However, I also want to take into account the color of the text itself.for instance, if I create a red text, in some zone it will be red with a modified alpha value, but on another zone, the text will be full white, as if there was a kind of mask which also applies its own color on top of it.

Is there a way to easily do this kind of thing? Of course, I can manually apply the format on the text according to where it is, but I wonder if there is an automatic processing like mask or blend mode using a DisplayObject as a processing pattern.

Actionscript 3 :: What Is The Complementary Event Of 'show' For Flex Displayobjects

Jul 12, 2011

Since flex memory management is poor, objects once instantiated dont die very easily (even when they go out of scope), one would need to check on various properties of components. I am using one such thing to know if the screen (which is a display object) is in current view. For this I am turning on a boolean property (currently visible), and I am setting it true on show event of the display object.

What I need to know is, which event (something opposite of show, e.g left?) could be used when the screen is replaced by another display object?

Something like focusIn and focusOut from dotnet.

Or if there is some property which could directly tell me if the display object is currently in view (hasFocus doesnt seem to be giving me expected results).

One solution is to do picture smaller, but i want to have buttons and info on the picture. It is not layer problem, because layer with picture container is on the last one. Heres the code:

Audio :: Extract Sound Object To A Mono Byte Array In AS3?

Jan 18, 2012

I'm trying to prepend the byte array of a sound object to a captured microphone sound byte array.

It works, but the extracted sound object get pichted down and doubled in length. I guess this is because the byte array of the sound object is in stereo, while the mic byte array is in mono.

I have this:

sound.extract(myByteArray, extract);

myByteArray now contains the stereo data. How can I turn this to mono

UPDATE:

Here's a working solution:

existingByte.position = 0;
var mono : ByteArray = new ByteArray();
while(existingByte.bytesAvailable) {

Actionscript 3 :: Show / Hide Specific Color Ranges With PixelBender?

Jan 21, 2011

What is the best way to hide specific (interpolated) color ranges? For example, I have a gradient that goes from blue > cyan > yellow > red. What I need is to hide blue > cyan, yellow > red but leave the cyan > yellow.

var rangeA:Object = {min:0x0000FF, max:0x00FFFF} //hide
var rangeB:Object = {min:0x00FFFF, max:0xFFFF00}; //show
var rangeC:Object = {min:0xFFFF00, max:0xFF0000}; //hide

It is ok to apply different filter for each range.

Flash :: Calculate Days Between Two Dates?

Sep 1, 2011

I use this script currently to determine the difference between two dates:

[Code]...

The problem with this is I want to monitor the actual physical day change so if someone accessed the application at 11:59 PM and then came back 5 minutes later this would register as a 1 day difference (a new day), this current script requires atleast 12 hours to have passed between two dates for it to register as a new day.

I have thought about using the date number etc, but because months and years are so different it is quite a complex route, there must be something simpler.

Actionscript 3 :: Calculate Intersection Between Shapes In Flash?

Dec 24, 2010

I need to calculate the intersection between two shapes in flash / action script. The problem is I can't access the shape's nodes and segments, and their coordinates, so there's no way I can calculate this. Do you know a way?

edit: further explanation: I imported irregular polygons from an EPS file to a movieclip with shapes in it.The mathematical solution to the problem is trivial, but to do that, I need to access by AS code to the coordinates of the nodes that make up the polygons, which I tried with no success. That is what I'm trying to accomplish.

edit2: dismiss this question. It's not possible. The workaround I'm applying is to save the polygons in SVG and parse them to get a list of nodes. then will feed that list to flash to calculate the intersection and areas on runtime.
