Flex :: 4.5 : Strange Scrolling Behaviour In Custom Layout Used In A List

Sep 15, 2011

I created a custom layout for a list, to be used on a mobile (android). I used this as example : [URL], using virtualization. Now the problem I have is with scrolling : when scrolling to the bottom of the list, there seems to be always a "bounce back", as if the list would have reached and as if the bounce/pull effect is taking place. But in fact the list has not reached the end at all, in fact I can not even scroll to the last element in the list. When going back from bottom to top, there's no problem at all.

I trace the top and bottom of the Scrolling Rectangle (Rectangle.getScrollRect) and there I can see that when scrolling down, the top and bottom parameters increase, but when releasing the touchscreen, all of a sudden the parameters decrease again with a certain amount, and so never reaching the end of the list. All my code is available on google project hosting : [URL]

IDE :: Strange Flash Occurence?

Mar 31, 2010

I have a website. You can see that website both by typing in(not REALLY my website...I'm just using examples here)This website has a flash intro that at the very end enables the user to either choose to go to the html version of my site or the flash version, each option represented by a button.The strange thing is that if I'm on theURL of my site, everything works ok there. However, if I'm on the version with the "www" added into the URL, those buttons don't work. You still get the little "finger" indicator, but when you press, nothing happens.

Actionscript 3 :: Strange Offset In Flash?

Dec 14, 2011

I need to check (for my own good reasons) whether the cursor is located within the bounds of a particular object. I'm using a simple code to do this...

if(mouseX > hsSlot1.x && mouseX < (hsSlot1.x + hsSlot1.width) && mouseY > hsSlot1.y && mouseY < (hsSlot1.y + hsSlot1.height))
{
//My code
}

This, theoretically, should work perfectly! However, there is an offset (and one I did NOT set, mind you!) of about 16 between the hsSlot1's visual position (where it appears to start on the screen) and hsSlot1.x. There is a similar offset on the y axis, but I haven't measured it yet.The only thing I can think of for this is that hsSlot1 is an instance of a button (one with only one state at that) that was scaled to fit. However, I don't think that is it, because the numbers show that the entire object is merely offset at its current size.

Flash :: Logic For A Matching Game?

Feb 5, 2011

I was given a task to make a match making game in actionscript 2, problem is, i have very little knowledge about the language (well, and how matching works in as2, what are the important codes, code emplacements, and all I am new in AS2, and i really need a lot of help with our project. :)

I plan to match images. But.. I was planning to have a sort of "Compatibility" match-up game, like,..let's say we have two batteries, one has a 50v capacity(how do u measure batteries?) then the other has a 100v capacity, then there's this battery slot that only accepts a 50v battery, then you will have to match this 50v battery to that battery slot, that's my concept for the game, sir. I hope you got what i said, sir. :D

Flash :: Flex / AS3 Very Strange Simple Number Operation

May 27, 2011

My problem is quite simple to describe, in flex: 0.8 - 0.2 = 0.6000000000000001 I'm sure the first two members are 0.8 and 0.2 and are Number class, why would this happen?? And another thing, I cast the value from * type like this:

var value:*=0.8;
var castValue:Number = Number(value);

But nothing more, if I trace value I get 0.8 not 0.800000000000001 or something.

Flash :: DisplayObject.rotation Not Matching Trig Functions

Mar 19, 2010

I'm trying to label an animated pie chart, and I've been having a great deal of trouble getting rotated objects to line up with trigonometrically-positioned objects. So, for example, if I have a pie piece that's middle is angle theta and has been rotated n degrees in a tween, and then I try to position a label with code like this:

label.x = center.x + Math.cos((theta + n)/180 * Math.PI) * radius;
label.y = center.y + Math.sin((theta + n)/180 * Math.PI) * radius;

the label is often not aligned with the center of the pie slice. Since I am also zooming in to the pie chart a great deal, the error becomes significant enough that it occasionally causes the label to miss the pie slice altogether. The error seems relatively unpredictable, and it looks a great deal like a rounding error, but I don't see any obvious rounding going on (the trig functions evaluate to ten or so decimal places, which should be more than enough here).

How can I get these labels to position correctly?

Somehow you would have to loop through the bigger bitmap to find and the the pixel range that matches and return those coordinates. For example the Bitmap with the "E" is 250 pixels over and 14 pixels down in the bigger bitmap.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash 6 Importing Data Into Array And Matching It To Case Switch?

Feb 3, 2011

A quick review of the project, I am importing information from an xml file into an array. From there I have passed the information from the array to a variable.I find it that when I try to match the variable to a string letter, that it is not running through the case switch properly and going straight to the default bit. I have tried numerous solution to check where the problem lies;I have trace the actual position of the array to check if it is the correct letter I am trying to match.Did a length check on the variable that it is only 1, and not containing any spacesWhen I hardcode the letter into the variable, the case works perfectly.Any idea on why this is happening would greatly be apreciated. I have pasted a sample of the code below;

var switchTest = initialSlide_array[1];

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Matching Items In An Array To Movie Clip Labels?

Feb 6, 2012

I have an array that holds a list of items. In a movie clip, I have that same list as the frame labels. I'm using a for loop to iterate through the array and then assigning event listeners so that when you roll over an icon, it sends the movie clip to the right frame label (matching the item in the array).

However, the code I have now only returns the first match and not any of the others. Here's my code:

Code:
for (var j:uint = 0; j<interiorCallouts.length; j++) {
featureTextArray[j].text = interiorCallouts[j];
featureArray.length = interiorCallouts.length;

[Code]....

See the showCallout function. I'm using the interiorCallouts array to match the frame label in the callouts_mc, but I'm only getting the first match. None of the others.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash DisplayObject Container Matching All Elements With AddChild() On Criteria?

Mar 1, 2012

I'm coding this minigame implementation where a sprite traverses tiles on a screen, and when he's done traversing a tile, the tile "disappears" (its alpha decreases and it becomes a "wall" the player can not move onto). Now, simple enough. Make use of a traversing and traversed boolean arrays to store if a tile is currently being traversed, or if it isn't, but it has been traversed. So, if traversing == 0 and traversed == 1, make the tile "disappear". However, and here's the weird part, if I just set the alpha to, say, 0.5 in this if statement, it sets the alpha on just the tile I traversed, whereas if I try to make it part of the wall as well (in the same if), every tile except the one I've traversed to becomes a wall.

Here's part of the code (it happens in the enterFrame game loop):

Code:
const NUM_TILES = 15;
//Add MC for all the tiles
var tiles = new MovieClip();
addChildAt(tiles,5);

Arrow Up / Down Default Behaviour In A TextField

Jun 19, 2009

I am making a input field for keywords, and while the users writing I'm displaying suggestions for keyword on a list underneath the caret position.The input field is single line, so I am using the arrow up/down key to select a suggestion and Enter to insert it.And it's mostly working, with the big exception that the up/down key also changes the caret position to the begining/ending of the TextField.

I've tried using preventDefault() and stopImmediatePropagation() in the KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN event listener that I also use to change the selected suggestion, but that does not change anything.I checked the carret has not yet moved when KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN event is fired, bu visually I can see that it is being move before key is released (key up).

Flex - Security Behaviour In Adobe Air?

Apr 15, 2010

I am trying to load external SWFs in my Adobe AIR App. The loaded SWF is trying to access an URL to retrieve some informations via XML. When starting the SWF by itself it works fine. When loading the SWF from the File.applicationStorageDirectory i will get an Security-Error because the loaded App is executed in a local-with-filesystem Sandbox appareantly. First Question: Is there a way to change this? That the loaded SWF is running in a network Sandbox?

Since that first attempt didn't worked i've moved the SWF to the app:// directory.Now i'll get a Security-Error because there is no policy file on the Server available where the XML data should be retrieved. Second Question: Why is the policy file not necessary when running the SWF by itself, but is necessary when trying to load the data from the application Sandbox? What am i doing wrong?

Flex :: Alternative Behaviour Of && Operator

Mar 9, 2011

I've faced such situation. I've used to program in C#, and such code:

was asking both, condition1 and condition2 to be true (the case when they both are giving false and the end-result is true, could be achieved in other way). In Flex, same code would perform "some actions" if the both conditions are false. I just was wondering if is there any chance to make it break after finding first false in a queue, or I have no choice and should write nested if's?

ActionScript 3.0 :: SWF Behaviour Changes For No Apparent Reason

Sep 30, 2010

I have several two-sided ecards made with Papervision and TweenLite to flip them over.A couple of days ago the "flip" animation changed behaviour. This is in ecards I made several months ago. The ecards work OK but the PPV object is not positioned correctly.On the server, in IE the object is displaced to right and down by about 20 px. In FF it is displaced to up and left by about 10 px.In Chrome and Safari the display is OK.(Just to confuse you further, the display in FF is OK on my localhost).This effect seems to be local to my PC.

I have scanned for malware etc twice but nothing. I have the latest Flash player and browsers.

Any of the players I have experimented with don't do this. What they do is show you a still frame and update the video window only after you release the seek bar.

Professional :: Undefined Display Behaviour With AS Animation

Mar 18, 2010

I'm currently dealing with a very annoying problem, for which I can't find any solution, because - as I think - it does not result from a AS coding mistake but more or less has to do with the rendering of the swf.I am generating a seamless tileable stripe out of a few symbols. Then I am creating an endless animation that scrolls that stripe up. The scrolling is implemented as follows: I'm creating a second BitmapData of 500pxl height, that with every frame scrolls all its pixels 10 pixels downwards and then copies the 10 "missing" pixels at the top from the appropriate position of the prepared seamless tileable stripe.

During the animation there seems to be (at least on less performant systems) some kind of flickering (stripes tthat look like the animation wouldn't use a seamless tileable stripe - ALTHOUGH IT DEFINITLY DOES!!!)...The only guess I have - that it could result from a unsynchronized rendering of the swf..To the right you see a section of the prepared seamless tileable stripe from which these 10 pxl sections are copied.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Erractic Behaviour In Button Movieclip?

I've been following some tutorials on this of course, and I've completed my first button. The problem is that I'm getting weird erratic behaviour because of this Text (TLF) layer I've got (I animated color and size) in a classic tween.if I delete the layer, everything works great. I can't figure it out!

Flex4 - Funny Behaviour From Adobe Transitions?

Oct 23, 2011

No matter what I do, my transitions won't work as expected. I'll explain the issues and then place the code at the bottom. There are 4 States in my application.

goButton is present only in "State1" and "State2". State1 and State2 are nearly the same, but the y property of the goButton is diffrent in each. So I've made a little transition that moves the Button back and forth. Good so far.

However, both "State1" and "State2" can also be Transitioned to "State3". But there's no goButton in "State3", so I've used the <s:Fade> and the <s:RemoveAction> effects to get rid of it.
