View 4 RepliesIt seems to me like the biggest arguments against Flash right now falls into three categories:It is slow and battery intensive. Basically that it uses too much CPU than it should. It is not an open standard. Eveyone knows how HTML/CSS and JavaScript operate inside. Flash is not open.It has security flaws which make it insecure.
Seems like all of these concerns could be addressed if Adobe opensourced the Flash player. Third parties could contribute to and audit the code base, and optimize and fix bugs. Adobe could concentrate on making the apps and environments that author Flash content best. Well, Adobe hasn't done that yet. Why not? What are the business/technical reasons that makes Adobe want to keep control of a closed source Flash player?
We have been working on an opensource composite framework for developing flash games. We have been testing design concepts and we want to share our experience with the flash community. The goal: Develop a well designed framework that is simple to use.
So far:
1. GameObjects are autonomous. You can attach components such as RenderComponents or ScriptComponents to drive its behavior.
2. The SFS examples have been broken down into different components that can later be extended for your needs.
3. ExtensionMessages are routed to a global event handle that can be handled by the game objects.
The networking layer still needs a lot of work. The next thing on my list is to change the login handler component so that it can be extended with facebook, user/pass or etc components. I am also working on a Dependency Injection system that handles autowiring. Now that I have a new build system in I will be able to reintroduce that. You can have a look here: [URL]
I am making a 30 sec Tv commercial which is flash animation, majorly it is a Character animation.The flash size is 720 x 576, 25 fps(considering it will be broadcasted with PAL system). The procedure. I follow is...
1.Exporting as .avi from flash and importing in Premiere 3.0 with setting as DV-PAL Standard 48kHZ
2. Recording Voice over in Sound Booth 3.0 with setting as Sample rate - 44100 and channel as Mono and importing the .wav file in Premiere.I tried one as a sample but after exporting as .avi from Premiere the animation seems to be shaky. I tried importing as individual .bmp files and also .jpg files in premiere but still the animation flickers.
what would be the right resolution and format to create a flash as a tv commercial?

View 3 RepliesMy company has a variety of sales sheets, business cards, and other document templates that we currently manually customize for each of our sales team members. We need a way for a member of our sales force to be able to pull one of these documents up securely online, and type their name and information into specially created boxes that remain stationary, and then can be printed on their computer; or saved to a pdf to be sent to our printer for professional printing/cutting.
View 1 RepliesIf one doesn't have the source code, the only to test is to send keystroke and mouse move so I found this product but it's not free and opensource price is not even known :([URL] Squish supports automating interactions and testing non-HTML/DOM elements, that is, native objects, which are embedded in a web page. This is done at a fairly abstract level, which means that mouse and text input can be recorded and replayed.
In addition it is possible to inspect embedded native objects with the Spy tool and to insert verifications for these native objects. All of a native object's public properties can be accessed in test scripts.
iam currently using the Adobe Flash CS3 Try-Version. Where i can find information about commercial use of the Try-Version? Is it possible that i sell a FLW-Animation which i create with the

View 2 Replies[URL] This tutorial converts the content to a MC. I was wondering if there is a way to be able to select the content. For ex. I am using it for a text window. But when its published, the text is nonselectable. Is there a modification to this tutorial which will allow me to select the content once it has been published.
View 1 RepliesI have a textInput control that sends .txt value to an array collection. The array collection is a collection of US zip codes so I use a regular expression to ensure I only get digits from the textInput.

View 1 RepliesI wrote a class that converts possible color formats (that I can think of) into valid hex colors appended to a pound sign (#). So what it basically does is check and convert a color in any of the following formats
uint
String("colorname")
String("nnnn...")[code].......
into String("#nnnnnn") regardless of empty spaces.Color names are the current standard 147 CSS color names, as listed in here.This class can be used by its single static method to 'normalize' colors in an html if an appropriate replace pattern is used. The method works for a single color. This, in fact, might be used while parsing an html data into a text field in flash, for example. Additionally you can input an optional second 'default color' parameter in the method.
Just a simple question: Would you prefer IntelliJ? If so, what are the Pro- and Cons?
View 2 RepliesI am just wondering if there is any commerical game-engine middle-ware or library for ActionScript 3 (I am big fan of "don't reinvent the box unless necessary"). I have checked out some Open Source ones such as PushButton and my google-fu is too weak to turn up anyone that is commerical (is that even allowed by Adobe in the first place?)
View 4 RepliesI need to play a .FLV file (a commercial), then switch over to a live RTMP stream. Then, every 30 minutes STOP the live stream (or mute/hide it if thats more efficient/effective) and play the commercial again, then continue with the stream for another 30 minutes and repeat. For some reason I'm clueless on how to do this. I don't know if I'm supposed to use timers or setInterval. For now I'm using the FLVPlayBack component (I'm too lazy to code my own right now).
It would be really cool if the script could sense when the video is done playing rather than me having to set a specific time because they might not all be the same length. I dont want my viewers seeing 15 seconds of nothing if its a 15 second commercial and I set a timer for 30 seconds.
I was just curious as to whether or not it is possible to broadcast a live stream and then be able to push in, let's say for familiarity, a commercial? I have tried to find some information on the Flash Dev Net area, however, I don't think it leans towards what I am aiming for.
View 1 RepliesI'm basically looking for something that can play/stream a variety of formats if possible (or if not, to have an easy way for non-technies to convert them to the desired format). I'm also looking for something easy to setup - like including a javascript tag at the top of the page and then perhaps using a div, or just 1 line of script code to make it work. If it's flash, then have to be simple to setup too.
View 2 Repliespoint out any good tween library free for use in commercial projects? The main critieria is its weight and I only need basic functionality which could be made in several ENTER_FRAME, but maybe there are some light libraries without paying fee for using. Tweener is to heavy for me, I need basically something below 5kb.

View 2 RepliesI've written a simple MovieClip replacement that converts an existing imported MovieClip to a sequence of BitmapData. This removes the requirement for Flash to render vector data in the MovieClip on each frame.
But BitmapData has a huge memory footprint. I've tried converting the BitmapData to a ByteArray and using the compress() method. This results in a significantly smaller memory footprint. But it has proven impractical. For each redraw, I tried uncompressing()'ing the ByteArray, then using SetPixels to blit the data to the screen, then re-compressing() the frame. This works but is terribly slow.
So I was wondering if anybody else has an approach I could try. In Flash, is it possible to compress bitmap data in memory and quickly blit it to the screen?
I wonder how native animated GIFs work in Flash. Does it uncompress them to BitmapData behind the scenes, or is frame decompression done on the fly?
Looking to write some code that converts the first letter of each word in a input textbox string to Caps if not already. ie - input textbox = "lowercase input string", then on button press the function converts the input to output this: "Lowercase Input String".
View 3 RepliesI was reading the 'Isometric Transformations' tutorial by Danko Kozar and I have a few questions. I understand what all the code does, but not how it does it. First of all, how does the following code work:
transforms x,y,z coordinates into Flash x coordinate
xFla = function (x, y, z) {
// cartesian coordinates[code].....
I understand that it converts 3d coordinates to 2d coordinates, but I don't understand how. What numbers whould be punched into x, y, and z to acquire certain desired effects?Also, what's the difference between moveTo and lineTo:
red line
style(1, "0xFF0000", 100);
plot(0, 0, 0);
draw(200, 0, 0);
I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?
