Flash :: Set MovieClip Position Without Messing Up Tween?

Feb 4, 2011

I'm working on a AS3 and Box2D game with moving platforms. The platforms are animated in Flash, and in actionscript I can read in their current position and adjust the physics bodies to match.However, there's always a delay, where the animation is one frame ahead of the physics. I wanted to fix this by reading in the clip's current position, storing it for later, and then putting the clip back to its position at the last frame.

But when I do this, it systematically refuses to budge. I coded up a simple test with a single moving box to test the idea, and I get the same problem ("movingBox" is a symbol that animates a single "box" symbol within it):

package
{
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.*;[code].............

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Movieclip From Current Position After Previous Tween

Mar 17, 2011

I am working on to slide a movieclip across the stage.The movie clip is five times the width of the stage and I am using the Tween  Class to move it across the stage when a button is pressed.The interaction I want is that when the button is pressed the movie clip moves a certain amount.If the button is pressed again it moves further.The script I have come up with though is taking the movieclip back to the original position of the movieclip and then moving it as opposed to moving it from the position it reached after the first button click.I have tried a few things but nothing is working.The script I am using at present is:[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Class - Tween Back To The Original Position?

Oct 27, 2009

I am trying to understand the thinking behind motion tweening using AS3 (rather than doing it on the timeline).I am trying to create a simple platform game, and while this is simply a learning project, I have an movieclip instance on the stage, and using basic x+5 logic I can get the instance to move left and right on the stage accordingly.Trying to make the instance 'jump' is a bit trickier. This is the code I am using:

ActionScript Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;[code].....

I thought this code would move the instance from it's current y-position and tween it to it's highest jump point. From here I planned to use a MOTION.FINISH event to tell it to tween back to it's original position.Something strage happens though, rather than tween from the current y position and move up, the instance instantly transforms it's position to y+100 and then tween back to the original position. So it kind of turns out that it is the second part of the jumping action that I want to create.

Actionscript 3 :: Tween Position Relative To Current Position?

I have a tween set on a timer:

var manTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000,14);
manTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, moveMan);
function moveMan(e:TimerEvent):void {[code]....

I just need to make the tween's position relative to it's current position, as opposed to starting at the stage's 0 position then moving the the stage's -40 position. It needs to start at its current position the move -40 from that position.

Flash :: Shape Tween / Transform While Maintaining Bottom (Y) Position?

Jun 28, 2011

I'm trying to shape tween a movie clip of a rocket blasting off. I want it to "squash" before liftoff, and then "stretch" as it lifts off. When I tween this on the timeline with the transform tool, I can "squash" the rocket, and the base of the rocket stays on the "ground". This is what I want. However, for reasons I won't go into, I need to do this in AS3, as opposed to on the timeline. When I use a "height" tween, though, the movieclip height changes, but it shrinks/stretches at the bottom (locked at the top). Is it possible to do what I want with the tween class? Do I need to use something besides "height"?

Flash IDE Messing Up Dimensions

Nov 15, 2009

hello everybody. I have a very weird problem. Recently my Flash IDE started to mess up dimensions. I mean when I create a new document or a rectangle for example, even if I set the height and width to the same value the height is always bigger than the width... I tried re-installing Flash CS4 again but that didn't solve the problem...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash SortOn Messing Up Arrays

Feb 24, 2011

I'm using the .sortOn() function in AS3.0 to sort an array with multiple elements.First, I push the values to the array, like this:[code] The program has a number of "loops" it goes through. So, I push data to this array (which is global) a first time, sort it, and then later I clear the array with the .shift() function in conjunction with a for loop. I then push new data to the array with the same line of code mentioned above.But what's happening is this: on the first round, everything works great, and this is what my output looks like:[code]Before I cleared the array with for loop and .shift(), it would say "Northern Alberta & Prairies" in ALL array slots. Since I started using the .shift() function I managed to get BC to remain, but it's still clearing my southern alberta entry.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Fluid Layout Stop Changing Resize Position When Movieclip Is At Certain Position?

Nov 19, 2009

I added a Menu_mc on my stage. Initially, this should be at the center of the stage and when I click on it, it will tween on the upper left corner of the browser. However, when I resize the browser, the Menu_mc goes back to the center of the screen.

I have tried separating a different actionscript file where it is specifically for initialization of the object and another one for resizing. And then when I call it on my main AS file it goes like this:

Code:
// Add the symbols to stage
var Menu_mc = new Menu_MC();
addChild(Menu_mc);

IDE :: Way To Get 'MovieClip' To Move From Position A In Keyframe 1 To Position B

Feb 3, 2010

What i'd like to do is have a menu/site map that adjusts when you click on a certain icon. For example, I have a AS3.0 flash file with, say, 5 keyframes with 5 buttons that are in different positions on each key frame. The buttons are set to gotoAndPlay the various keyframes. I can set up a tween that links frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 etc. but what I would like is a tween from, say, 1 to 3, then 3 to 5, then 5 to 1 - basically in a random order rather than sequentially through the key frames. I could set each of these tweens up individually but the site is for a portfolio that I would like to keep adding to and to do this individually would mean an ever increasing amount of tweens.Basically, is there a way to get a 'MovieClip' to move from Position A in keyframe 1 to Position B in another keyframe without a set of tween frames? I'm sure this is simpler than I am making it sound but I don't seem to be able to work it out.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tween - Remembering Last Position?

Nov 26, 2009

I've got a movieclip which I am tweening around the stage to various positions, depending on what buttons the user presses.My problem is, that currently each time the user presses a button, the movie clip shoots back to it's original position (placed on the time line), then tweens to the new position dictated by the button.

This is not what I want..I actually want the movie clip to tween from position to postition (not shoot back to it's original position each time).. I guess I need it to remember where the movie clip currently is, and then move to the new position..

here is my code for the tween..
