Flex :: Smooth Mousover Images Inside Scaled App?

Apr 28, 2010

I have a flex app I am scaling using systemManager.stage.scaleMode=StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; for the most part it works well except for my bitmap data (mostly png's from the designers).

I can set the mx:image tags to smoothBitmapContent=true and that works great for everything except my mouseover objects. When I do a mouseover, the source is being changed from one embedded image to another embedded image. I have tried several (many) online "smoothimage" classes, and tried to write my own, I have tried to reset smoothBitmapContent every chance I get but still no dice. It seems to mee that because I am scaling at the app level, that the flopped out bitmap is not getting smoothed when it renders.

IDE :: Imported Images In Scaled Swf?

Apr 9, 2009

've been building some website in pure flash with as2, where index.html is only a 100%x100% swf movie without any marginsi didn't expect there was supposed to be a gallery but oh well. our client decided that he wants to have some gallery in his flash website. this of course wouldn't be a problem if the swf weren't scaled but it unfortunately is so everytime it loads an image it is, of course, sacled up/down which produces a really ugly pixelated image (because nobody would want to have his gallery images scaled up 2 times)if i knew there was going to be a gallery, i would export it into html with "match movie" dimensions and dynamically reposition all the objects in the swf but i didn't. and i don't have time to rebuild the damn site againso i'm asking, is there any option for a loaded image that it would not get scaled up/down while the swf(browser window) is? or a variable that tells at how much % is the movie scaled in the browser?(so i could re-scale the images inside flash) i know there is probably not but i'm really desperate

Professional :: Pixelated Images When Scaled Down

Mar 27, 2008

I have scaled down some JPG's in flash and they look fine but when I publish to a SWF they look pixelated. I've read other threads and done what is suggested i.e. Smoothing on or off, JPG's instead of PNG's and quality at 100% with no success. I know that Flash isn't a resolution based application and bitmaps are but the images look fine in the Flash IDE.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Mousover - Send An Instruction From One MC To Another?

Oct 6, 2010

I have done a very basic flash navigation using on rollover within movieclips that make them fade in or out when you roll over. Here: http:[url].......My client has asked that when you roll over another button the current page button fades out. This should be straight forward but I have forgotten how to send an instruction from one MC to another. This is the code I have applied to an invisible button within the mc

Code: Select allon (rollOver)[code]........

So instead I need all other buttons on (rollOver) { gotoAndPlay("over"); to have another line in the same mc to make home button mc gotoAndPlay("out") then reverse on rollout.I have a different nav bar for each page.

Flex :: Know If An Image Needs To Be Scaled Down Or Not?

Jul 15, 2010

I'm trying to create in Flex a Tile view that shows some images that a user has. The images don't have the same size, some are small and some are big.

What I'm trying to do is to use a List and create an ItemRenderer that has an Image property which displays the user images (the images are passed to the source property of the Image Object), I want the big images to scale down to the size of the tile so I set the 'scaleContnet' property of the Image Object to true, but this causes the small images to scale up to the size of the tile, this is not the behavior I want.

all the images are Embeded into Class objects and are passed as arguments to the ItemRenderer, how can I know in the ItemRenderer if I need to set the 'scaleContnet' property of the Image Object to true (for big images) or false (for small images)?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scale And Smooth Dynamically Loaded Images

Jun 22, 2009

I've got a nifty bit of script that loads some images from an XML file into flash. It loads the pictures into specified movieclips:

ActionScript Code:
xmlImages.reset();
xmlImages = new XML();
xmlImages.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlImages.onLoad = loadImages;
xmlImages.load("[URL]");
function loadImages(loaded) {
[Code] .....

Each instance of the movieclips are called picture_mc1, picture_mc2 etc. On the frame where these picture_mc's sit, I've got this code:
ActionScript Code:
function randomImage() {
if (loaded == filesize) {
image = (imageFileName[0]);
picture_mc1.loadMovie(imageFileName[0], 1);
picture_mc1._xscale=23;
picture_mc1._yscale=23;
[Code] .....

Everything works fine, but my image scaling is making my picture_mc's look really pixilated. I've seen references to bitmap image smoothing, but i'm not sure the best way to approach this. It seems that each time I try and smooth my images, the code is smoothing the image placeholder, rather than the jpg that's being loaded into it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Smooth Resize Onclick And Animation To Be Smooth?

Feb 9, 2004

I have a movieclip that I want to be resized when a button is clicked. I want the animation to be smooth as if it had weight though. I read the tutorial on this but I need something slightly different, I would rather it where I can just refer to a function that is set in another movieclip. That way I could easily refer to it again and just set the height, width, and if possible, x, and y.

And my second question, is how to keep the border of my movieclip that is going to be resized the same thickness. I want the inside to be resized but the sides to stay the same width but move to stay on the edge.

Actionscript :: Get A Smooth Text Crawl Using Flex?

Aug 6, 2010

I'm working on a standalone Flash application (written using Flex 3/ActionScript 3) that features a text crawl, like what you might see at the bottom of your TV when watching a cable news channel; it's a long narrow box that text moves across from right to left. I've implemented it by creating a Label element, populating it with text, and then moving it using a mx:Move object with a Linear.easeNone easing function. It works, but it has ample room for improvement. It looks a bit jerky, and tends to have a fair amount of "tearing" (the top and bottom halves of the text sometimes fall out of sync).

I tried throwing math at the problem to get the crawl's movement rate synced with the monitor's refresh rate, but that was a bust. I found out the hard way that the app's frame rate jumps around too much; the "optimized" crawl varied between looking silky smooth and like it had epilepsy.

Is there anything else folks would recommend I try to smooth this thing out? Is there some alternate design you'd recommend I try?

Edit: Some context: the crawl is part of a digital signage application (played from a standalone Flash projector -- no web browser) that does stuff elsewhere on the screen, including video playback and rendering text and images. It definitely gets choppier during video playback, but it's never as smooth as I'd like it to be.

Actionscript :: Smooth Sliding Animation In Flex With Large Amounts Of Components

Nov 19, 2010

I have a component I created that works like a Viewstack but the next index component slides in from one of the four sides. I've got it working well enough that it's acceptable to use, but I want to make it more efficient.

Right now I'm using a Canvas as the base component, I create a snapshot of the current view using an ImageSnapshot (new Bitmap( ImageSnapshot.captureBitmapData( this ) )), and I slide the new index on top of that image on index change.

I'm basically looking for suggestions on how to do this a better way. By taking the Image after the component loads, and after the slide happens, I've gotten the initial jaded moves down to a minimum, but we normally use this for transitioning grids so it's almost always slow on the first or first couple slides.
