Flex :: Datagrid And Inline Item Rendered

May 24, 2011

I have a datgrid with two inline item renderers. The dataprovider for my DG is a nested object (objects within objects within objects i.e 3-layered). Main Object - 1st Level

[Code].....

I use 2 item renderers (one for each datagrid column) which loops thro the 2nd level object1 and 2 respectively (the 2nd level object is a dynamic array of objects, in that the number of objects within keep changing). Within the item renderer I loop thro the 2nd level object using a foreach and then display the data. The data is a linkbutton, which when clicked , calls a remote object function to delete the data from the database

now on the result event of the remote object function call, i call the function to repopulate the DG, so that the updated data is displayed. When i click on the linkbutton in the first row, the backend works perfectly fine (the data gets deleted from the database and the refreshed data is sent back), but for some reason, the deleted data suddenly appears in the 2nd row. When i delete it from the second row, it appears on the 3rd row (nothing happens in the backend since the data is already deleted).. and so on, till it appears on the last row and then the DG looks exactly the way it shld have looked after the first delete.

This is just the beginning. The second item renderer also displays a linkbutton, which when clicked, displays that data in the previous column (the one where this data can be deleted). When i click on 1st row, the data gets added in the previous column of the second row. and so on.. Basically, my DG is acting really weird. I overrided the set data function in the item renderer to refrsh the data and called its invalidateDisplayList. I also call the Datagrid's invalidateDisplayList function after each refresh. The behavior remains the same.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Pass Name Of A Class As Argument In Function

Mar 14, 2009

I have recently moved from AS2 to AS3 and I am finding the transition fairly easy, however I do have a few questions, some of which may not have been possible with AS2 but I would like to achieve them in AS3

1. Is it possible to pass the name of a class as an argument in a function and then use it to create a new instance. e.g [code]

2. Carrying on from the previous question, if a class can infact be passed, can I specifying a variable type for the argument so that only classes and not instances will be accepted?

3. I have three class files that all inherit some functions and variable from another class called Ship. Is it possible to specifying a variable type so that the variable can only hold instances of classes that are inherited from the Ship class?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Possible To Pass An Argument To The Function Triggered By An Event Handler?

Mar 31, 2009

Ok, I have 2 buttons on the stage. Each button does almost the same thing, so I want to create a single function, and each button calls that same function (we'll name that function "Navigate")... however, the function will need to end up doing something different dependant on which button was clicked.So, previously, in AS2, I would've added some code onto the buttons themselves with on(release) methods, like so:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Pass An Argument To The Function Triggered By An Event Handler?

Mar 31, 2009

Trying to migrate my way of thinking from AS2 to CS4/AS3. Ok, I have 2 buttons on the stage. Each button does almost the same thing, so I want to create a single function, and each button calls that same function (we'll name that function "Navigate")... however, the function will need to end up doing something different dependant on which button was clicked. So, previously, in AS2, I would've added some code onto the buttons themselves with on(release) methods (see CODE EXAMPLE 1) So, each button effectively calls the Navigate function, and passes a different frame label to the function. Now, I'm trying to recreate this functionality in AS3. As you all know, on(release) has been done away with (still don't know why), but we now have to use event handlers, so I'm trying to figure out a way to pass a different frame label argument to the Navigate function. Currently I can achieve that by using a switch statement to test which button was clicked, and act accordingly (see CODE EXAMPLE 2).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Call A Function From A Xml Menu Item?

Oct 11, 2010

I have purchased a menu (AS3 + XML)...very nice, and I have simpleviewer v 2 ...also very nice - However - I have absolutely no idea how to get the xml menu buttons to call on the function that loads the relevant simpleviewer gallery...not very nice

I have spent the weekend going through lots of menus with XML + AS3 but they all seem to fall short of explaining how you get the final xml buttons to interact with any actionscript within your flash movie. This makes me think I am missing something very obvious and if so a polite nudge in the right direction would do just fine. In the mean time this is what I have been doing,

The thought pattern I have at the moment is that I can call a function (that is written on the first frame on the main flash movie) from a button in the xml file. Is this true and if so how?I have been trying to search for terms such as 'call function from xml' etc but have not found any relevant links Based on the two code blocks below I tried this within the xml but no luck

HTML Code:
<item text = "ButtonTest1" action = "_root.loadGallery1" frame ="1" label = "" url = "" target = "_self" />

The function/s I want to call from the flash movie is this

ActionScript Code:
function loadGallery1(e:Event){
loadGallery("gallery_1.xml");
}

[code]....

I have all the relevant as files for the menu if I need to code them, just really need to know what I should be looking for. As it is a purchased download i am not exactly sure if there is any restrictions on sharing code but it is fairly useless within flash if I cannot get it to work in the first place!

I'm trying to call a function in frame 1 of my SWF and also pass it a parameter.

I need to do this from elsewhere on the embedding HTML page using JavaScript.

For example call the function flashFunction(foo);

Does this require a listener in Flash that listens for the call, excepts "foo" and then calls the flashFunction and passes "foo" to it?

Can this be called directly without a listener?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Record The Current Position Of Any Of The Items Item In Order To Use That Data To Change The Position Of The Item After The User Clicks?

Jan 2, 2010

If I have several items that move across the screen but the user can click any of them at any time, how do I record the current position of any of the items item in order to use that data to change the position of the item after the user clicks?

This is what I am doing: I have 11 images that slide accross the screen. The user can click any of them at any time. When he clicks one I am scaling the image so it looks like it is comming forward (z axis) and then the rest of the images are scaled down so it looks like they are going back on z axis. So what I am trying to do is get the current position of the image when the user clicks the image so that I can use that to correctly estimate the scaling and moving of the image to make it look like it scales from the center and not from the top left corner. So if have a variable that gets the current position of the image being clicked I'm thinking I can change its position using something like: x = currentposition + -45;
