Flex :: Mouseevent - In OnMouseOut Is Trigerred On Child?
Jul 27, 2010In flex, I am using the following code:

// adding label
// closing HBox

I have done an ovveride of the standard TextInput component In this component I have :
addEventListener( FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT, handleFocusOut ); My method is trigerred when the field loose focus for another field (nice)Problem : It is trigerred alose when the whole flex application lose focus (when my field has the current focus inside my form)
I'd like to know what is the difference between MouseEvent.CLICK & MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN. Because when i use MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN for a button to set full-screen view its doesn't work, instead of this MouseEvent.CLICK works. So what was the reason.
View 3 Repliesshow a demo using Actionscript 3 where a child movieclip is added dynamically in a loop using addchild within a cotainer movieclip. Then the child movieclip has an addEventListener MouseEvent added to the child, not the container, in the code.
View 4 RepliesIf anyone has come across this problem or is educated enough so that you may come up with a working solution then please post here. Okay so at the moment I have 2 swfs. One swf is the main swf, which contains a class called Avatar. This class extends Sprite and has 1 child, which is a bitmap image.
What I do is load the child swf into the main swf, create an object of the Avatar class and pass the Avatar object down to the child swf. The child swf takes this object and adds it to a Sprite object as one of it's children. Then I add an event listener for MouseEvent.CLICK to the Sprite object (the one containing the Avatar sprite) that is in the child swf.
Now when I go to click the Avatar bitmap inside the Sprite inside the child swf. The mouse click event does not fire.
I have a parent movieclip with a few other movieclips inside it. When I add a mouseclick eventlistener to the stage and click on one of the children, i want the target of the event to be the parent movieclip. I still need the children to be mouseEnabled.
how do you check if a movieclip is a child of another?
I'm creating a simple drawing application that adds new Shape objects to a MovieClip "canvas" every time the user clicks and drags. The problem is, I'm noticing that even though the MouseEvent listeners are set to the MovieClip, the child Shape objects are being returned as targets as well. This disrupts the localX and localY as well, causing the drawing cursor to jump around as the coordinates change from being local to the entire MovieClip to local to the Shape the mouse is currently over.Is there any way to retrieve the most parental target from a MouseEvent?
View 1 RepliesI followed this and was experiementing with it. http:[url]....I can't seem to get the menus to return onmouseout on if the flash is clicked again does it return
View 2 RepliesI am working on a video player in Flash CS4. I'm trying to build the player such that when the user moves their mouse over the flash object, the playback controls appear and, when the user moves the mouse out of the flash object, the controls disappear.I managed to get some code put together that works in every browser but one: Internet Explorer. Well, it 'works' but only if you slowly move the mouse out on the left side of the flash object.I have done quite a bit of Google searching for an answer, but I can't seem to find someone with a similar problem.Code is as follows:
ActionScript Code:
root.onLoad = function(){
_root.clip.skinAutoHide=true;

I have several stage event handlers to enable mouseovers over several dynamically generated moviecilps on the stage that then change their alpha to indicate the mouse is over that particular mc... fairly trivial (mcOver handler). Additionally, I also want to know what MC is clicked, so I update a public variable (public var activemc:Number) with the ID of the dynamic movieclip when the mouse is over it (using a hitTest to check, which is why the EventListener is added to stage and not to the MC), which is checked in the mcClicked handler:This is in the constructor:
//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startDrawing);
//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stopDrawing);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);[code]....
However, the mouseover behaviour (alpha 0 when over, alpha 1 when out) stops working as soon as I click on any movieclip on the stage, and the mcClicked ID checking (below) stops working completely. I don't know if this is to do with focus:
private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
}
I then tried adding the event handler for the stage mouse_move again and this gets the mouseover working again but only for 1 more click, after which it stops again:
private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);
I have a MovieClip (call it base_mc) which is under a bunch of other MovieClips (call them subclips). The MovieClips on top are all mouseEnabled with MOUSE_OVER, CLICK, etc, event handlers. I want to capture the event of MOUSE_OVER (or ROLL_OVER) on the base_mc as well. Any time I am over one of the subclips I am also over the base_mc clip. How can I capture this event?
View 2 RepliesI'm making a button for the first time, and I wanted to use a full click to drive it. However, when I use addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickHandler); nothing happens when I click on it. When I use (with the rest of the code being identical) addEventListener(MouseEvent. MOUSE_ down, onClickHandler); it works like a charm.
View 6 RepliesWhat is the difference between MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP and MouseEvent.CLICK? Why should I use one of these over the other?
Code:myButton_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, fNavigate, false, 0, true);
myButton_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fNavigate, false, 0, true);
I have a MOUSE_DOWN handler that creates a CLICK event listener on a child object. Naturally, as soon as you release the mouse button, if you happen to be over the child object, the CLICK event fires.I was disappointed to discover that event.stopImmediatePropagation doesn't interrupt the CLICK event from registering the MOUSE_DOWN as part of its detection cycle. It makes sense that it doesn't but still... disappointing.A MouseEvent.CLICK consists of detecting a MOUSE_DOWN on the object and then if it's followed by a MOUSE_UP without leaving the object, he event fires. I had hoped that by cancelling the MOUSE_DOWN event, it would clear that out of the CLICK buffer, but no such potatoes, alas.This could all be handled with a flag and a couple more MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_DOWN handlers, but dang, smacks of effort
View 2 RepliesI have the following:
rwBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, audioOver);
function audioOver(e:MouseEvent):void
{
var thisClip:MovieClip = e.relatedObject;
thisClip.alpha = 0;

I would like to change the alpha of the clip that is being rolled over. I don't know how to target the clip that is being rolled over. How do I do that?
i have problem with swfLoader in flex, when i close following code in click method i can easly add many swf to main application

I have an Movie Clip in Flash that have subobject of button type which has subobject of input text and movie clips. Right after creation core Moveclip all subobject are set to null, when I expect them to be valid objects.
[Code]...
MC_Core_design was created in Flash and exported to Actionscript. I've done this for button_1 class aswell. The code was written using Flex. When I comment out both lines that result in error I get correct view of the core Movie clip with all subobject. How can I set subobject properties right after object creation?
I dynamically create images in a loop (flash builder 4.5) and when I set mouse click event, I'm using this:
image.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(e:MouseEvent):void{fromThumbnail(e,i)});
to pass i. However, when I click on any image, the function thumbnail prints the last i.
Is there solution for this problem?
I have two components being absolutely positioned within a container (they are MapSymbols on an ILOG Elixir map, if that helps). Each component is a VBox with an Image and a Label. Images have functionality tied to the Click event; labels do not.
The problem is when 2 items are positioned so that the label of one is above the icon of another in the z-index, so that the label eats any mouseOver and mouseDown events. Bubbling doesn't help since it bubbles from the label to the vbox to the container, never hitting the lower element. I can't set the vbox to mouseChildren="false", since that keeps the image from getting clicked, as well.[code]...
In flex, I am using the following:
mx:TextInput mouseOver="tester(event)"
It works fine. My pointer goes over the textInput and it calls the function. But when I click inside the textInput to enter some text( focus is on the textInput) and then move the mouse (not taking mouse pointer outside of the boundary of textinput), the mouseover event is not trigerred.
If I use click event, then even if I am entering text ( or the focus is on the textinput) and then click, it will call the function.
How can I call the tester function on mouseover when the focus is on textInput?
I am trying to make a simple mp3 player using flash. The songs are loaded using an XML file which contains the song list. I have "play" button with the instance name "PlayBtn". I have an actionscript file named "playctrl", the content of which are listed below:
package classes
{
import flash.media.Sound;
[Code].....
However on clicking the play button, I notice that the function playSong() is called 7-8 times(check by printing an error msg. inside the function) resulting in overlapped audio output and the player crashing as a result. The function should be called only once when the MouseEvent.CLICK is triggered.
I have a parent and 2 children. I am trying to pass data from child1 to child2 but keep getting an error message: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method through a reference with a static type.
In child1 I have the following code:

public var TestVar:String='sometext';
In child2 I am trying to get the value of TestVar and then use it as a value to search a mysql database via php.:
var newTestVar:String = child1.TestVar;
if(newTestVar != null){
getResult.token = someService.get_filtered_Paged(newTestVar);

I have a container Canvas named "cnvList" which contains another component horizontal list "hlist". When i hover the mouse over "cnvList", it should display the current mouse position relative to the container cnvList. I have used cnvList.contentMouseX for this. But it should repeatedly track the mouse position repeatedly even when the mouse is not movedk. Can anyone suggest me with code how it can be done?

But, in some areas, I have event listeners for MouseDown, MouseUp events on some components. How to deal with flash inbuilt events ?
i'm trying to make a scrollable box, when a mouse enters and STAYS on "wrapper"'s area, "pubsBox" moves 10 pixels to the left.
<mx:Canvas id="wrapper" height="80" width="750">
<mx:HBox id="pubsBox" horizontalGap="10" height="80" width="100%" />
</mx:Canvas>
My problem is that I'm not sure how to make the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER work, to recognize that the mouse is still ON the area and so pubsBox should continue to move 10 pixels to the left every second. I understand that i have to use a Timer, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that I can't get Flex to recognize that the mouse is still OVER "wrapper" and continue firing the event.
I have a Adobe Flex project in which resides the following layout markup.

But that does not work. In fact, when debugging "b" is always null even though "grid.getElementAt(0)" returns a BorderContainer.
I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. But I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using on the stage
