my sister asked me to do smth for her that let me scratch my head: she wants to make a signature text in a forum and wants to add sound to this signature so when her post is shown the sound will play in background together with her text signature.
I'm not sure this could be done in flash? is there a way to have some jpeg image with sound effect? or should it be a video? maybe forums restrict adding a flash doc as a signature?
I've been working on a flash game, and recently added in sound effects. However, the sound effects only seem to play the first half-second of the audio file whenever I call on them to. I have been using the standard code.

But the sound effect only plays through a small amount of the audio. Also, the sound effects are not very stable, and will only play the butchered audio if there is some time in between clicking on several buttons. The odd thing is that I took the same code to another flash file, and the audio played through all the way with no problem, not requiring any additional time to play the sound effect again. I used the same code to load the sounds, which is

Ive stumbled upon a few sites that have free sound FX's but the ones I want which I wuld think are the easiest to get I cant find.I want a sound for when someone clicks the right thing, like a under a sec tiriring or something like when you kill a guy in Leauge of Legends or something like that and also one for when you click the wrong thing like an windows warning ut a little different, yet all the sites and SFX I come across are for everything but those.

In the library there are four .swf movie files and I don't think they were made in the adobe flash software as they would have taken all day to do. Is there a program out there that can quickly make cool text effects with a transparent background and then be able to import the finished txt effect into adobe flash and use in the fla file?

I'm playing around with the new Sound API in flash player 10 and I managed to load a mp3 from HD, extract it's bytearray and let it play. While playing I can play around with the pitch in realtime.
Now I want to add distortion, bass and echo on the sound, the only thing is I'm not a music specialist. I don't know the mathematics behind the effects.
I am using Flash CS5 to generate an array of the notes in a midi file. Basically I store data such as time of the note, note duration, pitch, scale, volume, etc.I have 2 questions:How can I export all these data in order to use it in after effects (as a txt file? other formats?);How do I use the exported file in After Effects later on: How do I tell After Effects when to start playing a note in a specific time? how do I associate note height with a specific feature (lets say - square width) - and so on.I DO know some basic coding in after effect (how to associate elements inside After - such as volume and opacity) but I need to understand how to deal with an exported file (and in which format to generate it).
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a pause feature for my game and the only issue giving me trouble is how to pause/restart the sound effects and music that is being played in various classes.
I do understand how to record the position when stopping and then play from the new position. All code examples are based on a single sound being played at a time.
I have multiple channels to handle music and for various sound effect categories (so the volume may be controlled separately).
Currently, all of the channels are all in a single class but the sound effects they are assigned (.play commands) are executed within each class (Bullet, Enemy, Tank, etc...)
I'm sure other developers have experience with sound effects in various classes as well... so how did you handle pausing multiple channels and then restarting all of the same sounds that were playing previously?
AS2 Trying to figure out to add sound effects to my buttons (which are actually mcs) in this file. I'm familiar with adding sound effects to "regular" buttons using the button state frames, but I have no idea how to go about adding them to these buttons (for rollovers and clicks). View 1 RepliesI have an animation that plays a couple of different sound effects (depending on what button is pushed). I have a checkbox that I would like to use to turn on/off the sound effects. I have read somewhere that it is possible to set up sort of a global sound that if stopped, stops all sound effects. I have tried to set this sort of thing up but no success . When I test getValue() of my checkbox it seems to work (defaulted to true) but nothing happens when I uncheck the box. What am I doing wrong? p.s. In what forum would I make the suggestion to have a new category for just sound problems? Does anyone else think it would be a good thing to sequester sound issues in their own category?

For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.
View 8 RepliesI am trying to play sounds in my Flash gameAt times, the game runs slowly and the sound effects began to lagI noticed that all of the sound effects that are played using AS3 sound and soundChannel objects (which are held in an array and are triggered by a Click Event listener function) are lagging worse that sound effects which are played from within MovieClips timelines (These MovieClips are played using gotoAndPlay() which is called by a different Click Event listener function.) I am wondering why this is happening. I assume that anything done within Actionscript would be processed faster that anything done on a timeline.

When attempting to use Flash Actionscript 3, my basic tests show that ALL the audio from the start to the position I choose is buffered before playback (Sound.bytesLoaded was my friend here). If I start one second in, it takes about 3 seconds to start playback, 30 seconds in, takes about 25 secondsObviously with a really long mp3, like skipping playback to the middle of a 3-hour audiobook, this isn't going to be practical.Here's the ActionScript 3.0 code I'm using:

I need to allow users to preview audio files for purchasing. I have CF pages that return records form a SQL database. Each record contains the same swf file however, each swf file points to a different mp3 for previews of different audio examples. So far, everything is working fine. My problem is that I need to be able to stop the sound from one swf when I click to play a second swf .The only solutions I see in Flash forums deal with loaded swf files. These are not loaded files they are separate files within a page. The question is: How do control one swf from another swf in the same page.The following items have not worked: soundChannel.stop();,soundMixer.stopAll()

View 1 RepliesI'll explain my scenario. I want to play a small sound at certain situation, so I would prefer initiating the play via jQuery. Also, I wish to make a toggle button for the sound. So, the user could turn ON/OFF the sound. So, I'm thinking about creating the toggle button and function for playing the sound inside the Flash. But I don't how to call this function (that I have written in Actionscript, which will start playing the sound) via jQuery ! Do you have some ideas ? I haven't done creating the Flash document, but bookmarked some tutorials and will start playing with it soon. :) The reason for choosing Flash is that it would be crossbrowser compatible.

I'm working with FL but I've tried PS and IL and everytime it ends up looking like an 8 bit graphic. It happens with all the preset effects. View 7 Repliesi am a beginner user of flash & i think i have mentioned this in my earlier post here few days back , i have just made a little dynamic text field and loading some html text and images into it via xml CDATA node. everything is working fine i just wanted to put some animation effects on my text field while loading it through xml ...i added some motion tween in the beginning which actually moves whole text field from out side of canvas to inside at its original place with ease out . its looking fine to me but i noticed that dynamic text loads a bit late and during tweening i just see empty text field .so i was wondering how to put some simple effects on loading dynamic text

I'm applying a simple alpha fade to the onEnterFrame event of a movie clip using AS, and inside that movie clip there is a dynamic text box that gets its content from an XML file. The fade works fine on everything except the text - the whole movie clip fades in, but the text just instantly "jumps into existence".
View 1 Repliesi need to write AS 2.0 code for creating text effects like those we have in ms word clipart.. i dont need it to be all that complex though. what i need is to make the text pinched.. so that if there's a word, the ends of the word are more in height but in the middle, its slim then i need to make the text seem bloated.. which is exactly the opposite of pinched. then i also need the word to appear wavy.. as if the word is riding on a wave ya know.. then, i need the word to slant backwards and forwards i also need it to have a dropshadow but i found stuff by senocular on it. so i guess i'll manage that by the filters and all.

Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

The contents of myText.txt are <a href=(not sure what to put here)> Product 1 </a> But all that does is put it in the text output section in flash.It does not show it in flash. I need help getting it to show up in a text box.That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
