May 29, 2007When person goes to site [URL] they are presented with a different .swf file each time they visit or refresh the page - currently I have three different .swf files that can served up.
What I've done so far to make this outcome a reality: I included a javascript array in the .html document that selects one of three .swf files to present in the page. Here is the javascript:

Is there like a line of code and a function or variable I should declare or import that allows me to create depth and put my lifebar at the front.

Nov 12, 2010I'm building a game that is relatively heavy. I load the essential assets before rendering the game, such as sounds, classes, movieclips and bitmaps. Now my question is... There are some none essential assets that I want to load in the background and not in the main load to speed things up for the user. But, apart from consuming the user's bandwidth...I have the feeling the animations slow down if they are running while the assets are loading in the background.

Jan 24, 2005I am using two server/cliant loading things, one is the External Text MX extention and the other is the hit counter from this website.Both, when using Mozilla Firefox, do not seem to load. You can see by my URL http:[url]... that it will saw "Loading... Please Wait..." with firefox, and the hit counter will read 000000, however when you open it up in Internet Explorrer everything loads fine.

Sep 11, 2010I need to allow users to preview audio files for purchasing. I have CF pages that return records form a SQL database. Each record contains the same swf file however, each swf file points to a different mp3 for previews of different audio examples. So far, everything is working fine. My problem is that I need to be able to stop the sound from one swf when I click to play a second swf .The only solutions I see in Flash forums deal with loaded swf files. These are not loaded files they are separate files within a page. The question is: How do control one swf from another swf in the same page.The following items have not worked: soundChannel.stop();,soundMixer.stopAll()

Actionscript 3 :: Prohibit Users From Loading Swf Files By Flash Loader.load() And Only Allow Loading Images?
Apr 1, 2010I want to have an AS3 app load images from url supplied by the user. But I don't want a malicious user to be able to load an SWF file in place of the image, such as with an altered extension "maliciousSwf.png". Well, not sure how big a security threat that is above and beyond the ability of the hacker to decompile swf, but I think that ideally such behavior should not be allowed.
So, is there any way to prevent this? When people allow users to load images in their Flash apps, do they somehow guard against loading of SWF? Or is this really absolutely no big deal?
SWF To Gif - HTML Doesn't Like The Swf Files

So I had the ingenous idea to make them into gifs.... But now the mask I used to make the flags comes out on top and you cant see the 'flag' part anymore You can download it here

Play Flv / F4v Files Within Html?
Apr 4, 2011I have a .mov movie that I want to play on my website. In years past, I would use Adobe Video Encoder CS3 (I believe that's what it was called) and would turn the file into a .flv. Then, I believe I would use swfobject and it would display with the typical play and expand to full size buttons as well as the timeline.
I downloaded the latest version of swfobject (2.2) but this only seems to play swf files.

When main swf loaded in HTML with an absolute link like:[URL].. It reports 404 error loading failed of file.swf
Because it looks for file.swf at current web host.What's the best way to do this without hard code absolute url in main.swf?

Apr 2, 2003I have been desperate to find how to do this. I have found some answers to this, but nothing I can make work. The main place I have found is[URL].. and it wants to have the html docs as a template for flash. This is just confusing the issue and would rather find an example and don't mind editing and adding things by hand. I know this is difficult, at least from what I read and I don't know what I am missing. I assume the java in the html is what is messing me up.I don't have mx, so I cannot do the local thing, and need a flash 4 or 5 way of doing this. I have found some small ways of java, but I need to instruct the second movie to go to a label depending on what button is pressed in the first movie.

IDE :: Flash Files Won't Show In HTML
Dec 23, 2009I've created a full screen flash website. When I test the file in flash, its all good. Now I need to put it online to show the client, but whenever I try to do this...all I get is a black screen. Even if I use Flash's own Publish as HTML option, all I see is a black screen. the code on my main timeline is like this:

nothing is wrong when I test the actual SWF from Flash, or even just open the SWF in windows...

Oct 28, 2011In Flash CS5.5 when selecting, Publish Settings: html and swf, the html file does not display the swf from the URL after ftp. The swf file, however, does display from the URL without the html file. My work around has been to hand code the html. Is this a known issue or is there something else that might be causing this to occur?

Sep 11, 2009I am right at the beginning but am already having an issue. I have watched Lee's tutorial over and over and I cannot see what I am missing. All the files are in the right spot adn the HTML is identical to Lee's. The problem I am having is that the URL does not change properly. The URL shows Home.html# and not Home.html#/ASU Foundation or Home.html#/Tempe The title changes in the browser perfectly but nothing happens in the URL.

Jun 12, 2006I am having a couple of issues with dynamic text. I am loading fairly simple text documents, but am ending up with some font oddness. For example, I am using plain Arial in the CSS but am ending up with words running together. In the word "Oxygen" the "Oxy" letter spacing is really tight. Do I have something odd in the CSS? Pretty straightforward so I can't figure out why things look bad. Would embedding the font, even if it's arial, make any difference? How does that work in the code? I tried using the embedFonts = true; but that didn't seem to really do anything. So I'm thinking that perhaps I should be loading HTML or something for these external text files. These aren't huge, but several of them contain listings, headline, main body copy, sub head - the typical sort of thing on would find in a text file. Is there a good primer out there as to what works with CSS and text files or different ways of getting text files into Flash?

Aug 16, 2003I have 2 HTML files with embedded flash movies. One HTML file is the main area (main.html) with a flash movie called gallery.swf which has a grid of thumbnail pictures, and the second HTML file (popup.html) is a pop up chromeless window for enlarged images depending on the thumb's the user clicks. Essentially I need to pass variables to popup.html and ulimately its embedded movie enlarged.swf. These variables will basically be id's of the clicked thumbnails which I will use to locate the correct enlarged images on the server to load into into a container clip within enlarge.swf.

I inserted the swf in 'insert media' - 'shockwave' and the thing works when I press play to view it within dreamweaver. However, when I try to view it on a browser, either locally or remotely, it doesn't work.
