1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
whenever I set my sound to stream and continue to make a movie with multiple scenes. The audio and video get disgustingly out of sync sometimes even off by 30 seconds. I just started an animation its only 10 seconds long with two scenes and the AV is already off by about 5 seconds. Ive worked around this by avoiding scenes altogether but i really don't want to have another 5000 frame scene. I discovered this problem in Flash MX and Im quite annoyed that it still has't been fixed 3 years later!
View 1 RepliesI am working with a project that has many scenes. Each scene has a movie clip attached to it. The first scene is simple...just a couple of buttons and that is it. My worry is that when I add all of the videos that correspond with each button and publish the SWF will be a huge file. THE QUESTION: Does flash load ALL scenes of a movie or does it load the first scene and then load the other scenes when the user needs to view them?
My ultimate goal is to just have the first scene load and then when the user clicks on the buttons contained within that scene that only upon release does the corresponding scene load. Maybe I am doing this completely wrong and should look at doing it another way.

View 1 RepliesI have an array, and I add info dynamically into it. I need some way to re-order the array into ascending order.
Another thing. How can I add a value in the first position of the array pulling keeping all the other values jumping to the next position.
I basically have this and what I need to do, is when the user clicks on one of those boxes on the right, it'll appear in the yellow box on the left.
Each of those right boxes will be unique with different graphics. It'll basically be different graphics to be displayed on a T-shirt, which will be represented by the big black square.
Now I know that each of those graphics should be a button symbol with mouse click event, but I'm not really sure how to handle the event.
Should I just create a clone of that item and move it to the target area? Or is it possible to create some kind of blank placeholder where I could just display it?
what is the best way to take a movieclip from one flash file and transfer it to another?

I would like to create an "about us" portion of a website similar to: [URL]. It looks as though it is a series of disjointed swap images, but there must be some Flash involved, and if you click on the image of each person it also acts as a hyperlink. So, my question, could anyone point me in the correct direction of how I would create this for my website and to what degree of difficulty is involved.
I am trying to swap out one image for another in a Flash animation. On a mouse over, the want the new image (appb_mc) to appear OVER the existing image (appa_mc).I used the following code, but the new image keeps flashing. I am assuming it is because the new image is appearing OVER the existing image. If I have the new image appear other than over the existing image, it works fine. What can I do to make it work properly? These images need to be within the Flash file and not in an array.Actionscript I am using:

I have a project in which I have an opening scene of a main image and 8 thumbnail buttons. This opening scene is pretty basic, as the thumbnails would link to a new scene or frame label (however I build it). This 2nd scene or instance in the timeline is where I would display another large image, and 6 new thumnail images that, upon rollover, would swap the large main image with the large version of the active thumbnail.
Basically I have a main 'menu' of category thumbnails that link to an instance in the timeline that displays the initial large image for that category, and allows the user to mouseover the other thumbnails to see the large images, and then click to go to a specific URL for more information. The trouble I have with my rusty, limited AS knowledge is how to effeciently write the AS so that the image swap works. I quickly ran into a wall trying to acomplish this using a very OLD method that would require a LOT of jumping around the timeline.
I have made a script that works in Flash player 6 but when i switch to Flash player 10 it suddenly doesn't work, the script is:[code]Anyone knows why it doesn't work in any Flash player over Flash player 6? I asked this question yesterday but I found out that my problem is using fullscreen my goal is 2 mc 2 buttons : if btn 1 is clicked mc1 fullscreen and mc2 appears at the right bottom corner on top of mc1 if btn 2 is clicked mc2 fullscreen and mc1 appears at the right bottom corner on top of mc2 stage.swapChildren or setChildIndex is the way but with the fullScreen I had this error appears

View 1 RepliesI have an interactive story divided into scenes. At the end of each scene a button appears. This occurs on a frame on the timeline.
There are two different buttons that might appear based on whether a prior scene has been viewed or not.
For example, there are Scene_1 and Scene_2. At the end of Scene_2 one of two buttons will appear. The buttons will be either "Go see Scene_1" or "Return to Main Menu".
If the user has already seen Scene_1, Flash will know that and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Return to Main Menu".
Conversely, if the user has not seen Scene_1, Flash will know and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Go see Scene_1".
I imagine there would be an action frame at the end of Scene_2 that will contain the as2 code to enable this action.
Perhaps something like, but probably not at all like the following:

I'm looking for a plugin or command so I can swap all the colors in a selected symbol. the find and search thing doesnt quite do it well. It needs to affect anything in a group within that symbol. I was also wondering if there was a way to convert fills back to lines or if there is a plugin for that too. Ineed it for flash pro 8, I know its old.

I am having a movie with 8 scenes and being in Thailand where the internet is slow I would like it to preload before it opens because now, after it opens a lot off the stuff ain't there yet like buttons and animations that are built into different scenes.

I began a new flash file and created scenes with the actionscript 2, but it wont let me enter the script in the actionscript window. Here is an example of what i am using to navigate with buttons. Can someone chime in and show me a simple method to navigate thru the scenes with actionscript 3 or how to continue to use actionscript 2.

View 3 RepliesI've been asked to make a simple game and have very basic flash knowledge, I was approaching it as an "interactive comic" kind of way to make things easier for myself. However it's become very cluttered and I'm trying to figure out how to link scenes to keep things a little more organized so I don't make things harder than they need to be. I've looked online and followed the instructions to a tee, however when I try to impliment them into the game, nothing happens, no error code, just nothing happens. The .fla is too big to attach, so I've attached a brand new .fla using the same codes.
I've tried the following codes:

That didn't seem to work, so I tried naming the scene as you'll see and tried that, still nothing, I'm sure I'm missing something really simple but having very minor flash knowledge I can't see what that is.

View 2 RepliesIt would appear that FileReference.upload() is the only way in which you can upload a file to the server in Flash and get feedback about its upload state via a PROGRESS callback. All other methods just go off into the ether and come back when the file upload is completed.
Unfortunately, FileReference appears to insist that a user select the file to be uploaded. There doesn't appear to be a mechanism by which to set the file through code. The reason I need this is that I'm allowing the user to upload massive files and am uploading them in chunks, so, I want to just pack a chunk of data into a FileReference (maybe 5 or 10 megs) and send that off and watch it go. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it's possible to manually load data into a FileReference object? The data property is read-only, sadly.
I am making a game and was wondering whether scenes have any efficiency/performance purpose or if they're just there to make Flash more organized?
