Loading Objects And Dragging Objects To Create New Instances?

Sep 22, 2009

I want to create a flash movie which firstly loads a selection of images/objects into a portion of the frame. After this is complete, the user can then drag these objects onto another area and the object will be created where the user has chosen. The user can then drag another instance of the ojects onto the area.

For example, there is a background of a lake in one area. A selection of boat pngs are loaded in an area below the lake. The user can drag these boats and place them on the lake. They can drag a boat multiple times if they wish.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Layered Objects And Functions?

Sep 22, 2010

I have two movie clips on the stage: mcA and mcB, each have a function when rolled over:

mcA.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER , aActivated);function aActivated (event:MouseEvent):void{     trace('mcA was rolled over');}mcB.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER , bActivated);function bActivated (event:MouseEvent):void{     trace('mcB was rolled over');}

Under certain circumstances mcA may overlap mcB. When the cursor rolls over their intersecting area I would like both functions to launch, how do I do that? Currently, the problem is that only the object on the top will launch its function.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create An Array Of Functions In It?

Oct 7, 2009

Suppose you have a round based RPG type game. The player issues directives to his units, your enemy AI issues directives to its units. The problem is that the functions for those directives then have to be executed in a specific order with no relation to the order they were input in and all at the same time with the push of one button.

I just need a little direction here, I just spent the last fifteen minutes searching "AS3 Array of Functions" before figuring out that maybe that's not the way you do it in AS3.

Essentially, I'm looking for the way to store functions, put them in a list to be sorted in a specific order and then execute them in said order.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create/Run Functions From Xml Attribute?

Aug 4, 2009

Is it possible to pull a function (and run it) from an xml attribute?I have a dynamic xml menu with lots of buttons and sub buttons

Code:
function subButtnClick(........
if(String(_xml.item[_off.parent.id].subitem[_subOff.parent.id].@fn) != ""){
trace(String(_xml.item[_off.parent.id].subitem[_subOff.parent.id].@fn)); //returns the fn attribute - in this case, "aboutUs()" - when the "about Us" sub button is clicked.
}

How can I take that string value of "aboutUs()" and make it run as an actual function within that same if statement?What I'd love to do is place a boat load of functions that each allow me to manipulate the stage in different ways - creating different page looks - on a separate imported "menuFunctions.as". Each menu button click returns the "fn" xml attribute which is then magically run as a particular function from menuFunctions.as, finally then, manipulating the main stage.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Own Callback Functions?

Jul 28, 2011

There are several built-in callback functions in Flash, all of them very useful because they are monitoring events and immediately execute actions. They made us economy in code writings. Unfortunately, there's not enough callback functions that fulfill our particular requirements. For example, there's not such a MovieClip.onFrameReached(n) function, that makes something when the movie clip reaches the frame number n. I must appeal to setInterval function to monitor when the movie clip reach the frame n. I try to avoid using that because I believe it is resource consuming. In ActionScript 2.0, can you create your own callback functions or methods? think about what useful a function I described would be when you work with external swf's in order to synchronize it with other objects.

for setInterval:

Code:

C# :: Properly Create Game Objects?

Dec 30, 2009

I am making sims like game and right now I am trying to figure out how I will structure my objects. right now I am thinking to create a class called GameObject, the psuedo is below

public class GameObject {
name:String
width:int
height:int
}

This way I could create objects like bushes, trees, and buildings. But then I began to think. what if I wanted to create multiple buildings and trees of the same type ?? I would have to keep making instances of GameObject and giving it a new name and height and width. The properties would have to be the same values in order for me to duplicate one object. That seems a little tedious. Then I figure , maybe that isnt the right way to go. So I was thinking, I would have to extend GameObject like below

public class Tree extends GameObject{
birdHouse:Boolean
}
public class Building extends GameObject{

[code].....

Now this way I can create a class that has a method that loosely accept accepts any type that inherits GameObject.

Selector.loadObject(gObject:IGameObject);

Depending on what type it is (i.e tree, building, house) I can use a case statement to figure out which type it is and evaluate it accordingly.

I also created a Tile Class that will pass through the loadObject method. It also will be a child of the GameOject class. if the case statement finds that it is type Tile, it will highlight whatever Tile depending on what tile my mouse is over.

My second question is if a class inherits a class that implements a interface, is that class child class considered to be a IGameObject as well. or does it have to implement that interface directly. does all this sound like I am going in the right directions lol, as far as organization is concerned.
