i'd like to know if this is possible: currently i have a file menu.xml which contains menu information 2 levels deep (main menu, sub menus). this i am reading into flash and generating the menu. i would like to change this process:
1. call a php script which creates the xml output and using headers sends that data back into flash. sending and loading vars is no problem.
2. use flash to generate the menu

We have a Flash application provided by a vendor. It reads its parameters from an xml file on our web server's file system. However, it can also be spoofed to read its parameters from an xml file sitting on another domain's web server. At first we thought crossdomain.xml might be able to fix this, but we've researched it and understand the purpose of crossdomain.xml. It won't solve this issue.Are there any ways of enforcing that a Flash application reads its input file only from the same server where the Flash application was served? Or is the recommendation just to initialize variables within the Flash app, not relying on an external file.

The screen reader (JAWS) is able to read the textfield in flash on Google's Chrome but not in Internet Explorer 8. I'm using the latest version of swfobject.

my remaining questions | What needs to happen as soon as the xml file is loaded? i.e. do i call a function which parses the xml data and puts it into an array? then the DateChooser component iterates thru the array looking for boolean values noting if there is an activity or not and if so, on which day. if it finds one, it sets its highlight property to true for that particular day. i'm setting up the xml file correctly.

I was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:

I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?

Problem is that i want to catch messageClientDestroyed and send to that destination a message that the user has disconnected.But blazeds destroys messageClient when you add a subtopic.So how to understand that if session is invalidated and all messageClient are being destroyed or the user just enter another place and add a subtopic to his consumer. I'am also open for other solutions to implement that mechanism.When user disconnected by session timeout or closed the site browser etc. i wanna catch it and send a message to subscribed destinations.

View 4 RepliesI use Flash Professional CS5.5 with Gaia FrameWork in my project. movieclips in the project have extended classes and the problem is that when I give new functionality to my classes they doesn't work in an build project. for example function s cann't be found, trace doesn't work and so on. All the old functionality works. When I change class name then it works fine. but then it happens again. I made new project and coped all the content, but still it happens. View 3 RepliesI am trying to understand the method transition that falls in the Matrix Class. I am using it to copy pieces of a bitMapData. But I need to better understand what transitions do. I have a tilesheet that has 3 images on it. all 30x30 pixels. the width of the total bitmap is 90pxs. The first tile is green, the second is brown, and the third is yellow. If I move over 30pxs using the matrix that transitions, instead of getting brown, I get yellow, if I move over 60px, I get brown. If I move -30 pixels, then the order is correct. I am confused on what is going on.

I have an external class which will add an eventListener to a bunch of movieClips. I did this this way so I dont have to write 80+ eventListeners. BUT how can Flash tell which movieClip I'm pressing?And how can I specificly let something happen for that specific instance?
View 1 RepliesI can't get the hit test (true) to work on a clip that animates (all it does is grow in size). If I set the hittest to false so it just reads the box of the clip, and not the shape it works just fine. The clip in question is simply a circle.
