ActionScript 1/2 :: Load Swf File Before Playing It?
Jun 1, 2010
I just upload a new flash site to the air and i have one problem.My site have 9 different gallerys, so i made a main swf file and 9 more.
the main file is "calling" to the others.my problem is that it takes forever to play the gallerys.
i have a button that when it is pressed plays and loads an external flv file. this part works fine but directly after the flv video is finnished i want to load in an swf file. does some one have an idea how to do this? first show flv and then load swf? this is the code as it looks now..
I want to play an f4v file in flash, however when I play it I want it to already be loaded and buffered before I send the commands to play it.
my purpose is to have some events going on in the SWF movie then it immediately switches to playing a video but it has to be very synchronised. I dont want to play the video and have the person waiting ont he video to load.. I want to load the video in the background beforehand... then when it's time for the video sequence I send the commands to play it and everything is good to go.
I would like to load a different image inside a flash movie depending upon what .html filename my wesite is displaying. So, for example if im on index.html I would like an index image to load in a movieclip and when I'm on a (anything).html i want (anything).jpg to load. I know I can do this with loadmovie and however is there a way to detect what .html page the user is on or is there a better way of going about this?

I have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer
Created an mp3 player that works fine, but i need the track name, artist name, track timer, to be shown aswell?and i dont have a clue how do go about doing this.
I have a problem that I have not found a syntax error or logic error to explain. It appears to be an obscure problem related to playing a sound file and graphic positioning in the same file. My next step is to look for any known bugs. I have posted the file at. URL] When the page loads you will see a list of selections. Do not click any of the html Play buttons In the graphic arrow pointing to the right is the play button click it and a default file will start. Click the pause button (which will be green while the selection plays) Then click the play button again. The knob that moves while the song plays, will begin moving from the position it was at the time pause was clicked.
Click the stop button (arrow facing left with vertical line at tip) Choose a selection from the html list by clicking the Play button next to it. Then click the play button in the player display. The title of selection will appear in the title area. repeat the original steps (play, pause, play) This time the knob that moves while song plays, snaps back to the start and moves from start, rather than from the pausedposition.
i'm trying to play flv file using programming but problem it's only work with only html file.when i play with stand alone SWF File it's not playing flv file? what should i do to run as a stand alone application do i've to desing into Adobe AIR ?
I'm trying to load a swf file within another swf file and then load different swf files from buttons.This is the code I'm using, but I can't get any of the swf files to load.
var Xpos:Number = 0; var Ypos:Number = 0; var swf:MovieClip;
...........
I'm almost desperate because I'm looking everywhere for this simple (I think) task. I have an intro.swf and a content.swf. What I want is how can I play the intro.swf and while that is playing the other one (content.swf) is loading so when the intro finish the content.swf is already load and doesn't start a loading bar.
one question, can I load a movie in any giving time of the main swf without playing it and play it when I choose to? Or, can I load to the cache a movie so I can play it later?
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
I am trying to load an image sequence separate movieclips and then play the image sequence by changing the alpha in sequential order. (If there is a better way of doing this loading external images using a method similar to loadMovie then please feel free to share.).
I have accomplished loading the images and changing their alphas to 0 so they are not visible. Now I am trying to animate them using onEnterFrame to change their alpha in sequential order. Here is code I am attempting to use. I don't get any errors but I don't get any image changes either.
...
Then on each but the appropriate code - this is for button 3:
Code: on (release) { if (_root.currMovie == undefined) { _root.currMovie = "work3";
....
When the flash is loaded it loads in the SWF randomly fine. BUT!... when I go to select another item from the menu, I need to select the button for work1.swf first before I can then go select button for work2.swf load...
A simple question but, despite plenty of searching and much trial-and-error (well, mostly error) testing, one to which I have not yet found the answer: I have a movie that uses MovieClipLoader to load several images. I'm creating an empty movie clip as a holder for each image that I want to load, and using a loop to load each image into its repective holder simultaneously (or at least that's the intention), with loadClip.
What I'm trying to achieve is to monitor the loading progress of the images and when they're all loaded, start the main movie. I'm trying to use an onLoadProgress function to get the bytesTotal of each image, add these up and compare the running total to the overall total. The trouble with this is that onLoadProgress fires repeatedly (as one would expect), giving me the bytesTotal value over and over again, when i only need it once.
There must be a relatively straightforward means of identifying the size of all the images the need to be loaded into a movie, then comparing this with the progressing total.
I'm trying to preload a movie so that it doesn't stutter when it plays. So i thought preload the whole flv and then let it automatically play. I followed Adobe's tutorial on 'Controlling web video with ActionScript 3 FLVPlayback programming' and added a progress bar all using components. But I just can't get it to work, the progress bar disappears when it loads and the movie starts playing before its preloaded. Here's the online version; and I've attached the .fla too.
i want to load 4 different .swf at the time while my Intro is playing on the index page. yes now thats the catch. i am working with html. NOT the whole website is in flash. everything is fragmented and separate.
this is the website (lets consider so) and while my intro finishes loading and starts playing, i would like all the other 4 "SF*.swf" should be downloaded in the temp files of user comp, if done so successfully, while browsing through the individual html pages, they will not face the loading bar again n again (which becomes irrirtating for the user if they have to wait for each page and look at the % of bytes being downloaded )
1. is it possible to download all these individual swf files in the temp folder of the user comp?
How do I pause not play the external FLV video until I hit the "Play" button? I don't want my video to play immediately Couldn't figure out which code to edit or add in my AS.Below are my codes
Code: Select allvar nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect(null); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
I have about 30 very simple external swfs--each contain an image with tweened fades and rollover-to-pause/rollout-to-resume actions. They're loaded onto the main timeline one after another as a slideshow. It's an auto-play and loop: each image swf loads the next one on to the empty movie clip after it is done playing. (i.e., swf1's last frame loads swf2, and so on.)
This set up was fine until I realized that I should have a place-marker--something that indicates where you are in the slideshow. No other functions (go to next/previous) for the marker. I just need to show graphically that you're seeing the 5th of 30 images. The graphic is 30 dark dots that get filled in as you progress.
To do this, I figured it would be easiest if I designate 1 frame per image (=one swf) on the main timeline. So, frame 1 will load 1.swf and when 1.swf finishes, frame 2 will load 2.swf. This will make it easy for me to color in the appropriate dots according to where we are in the slideshow.
What I think I need to figure out is to "pause" at each of the frames on the main timeline until the loaded swf is done playing. They're all different in length--some are 50 frames and some are 90 frames long.
I almost had it figured out from massive googling, but I honestly don't understand it well enough to tweak what I've found to do what I want it to do.
Also, if there is a way that I can easily make the "place marker" work without changing the way it is currently set up (1 frame in main time line; 30 swfs that load one another), that would be even more awesome!
Basically my code at the beginning of the movie queries the server for the file names of jpeg files that are to be loaded into sequential frames. The reason is that the user can enter file names into a database and the application plays them back without the user having to do any flash programming. Currently, my code is using a preloader in each frame along with some additional code to center the picture etc.
This is fine *but* I need all of the jpegs to load before the movie starts, not when the play head gets to each frame. I can't have any delay from one frame to the next. Delay in the beginning of the movie is ok. Can anyone help me with a method to dynamically load these jpegs completely before the movie starts playing?...once loaded they must be available for any frame to call immediately.
I have created fla file in cs4 which is 1 minute long.
However when I try to export it as an avi only the last fifteen seconds of the video actually play. The avi is still 1 minute long but the first 45 seconds is just a white screen.
I'm only converting it to an avi so that i can subsequently convert it to an flv and put it into a player on my site.
Does an FLV need an accompanying javaScript file in order to play within an HTML page? How do you generate this or get a hold of this javaScript file if that is the case? I'm told you do not actually publish the file in order to get it to play / work.
So far, I have the FLV, the HTML page (where it's been inserted), the "skin" SWF and the movie in SWF also.
I am fairly new to Flash and working with MX 2004 with Flash 2. I have tried several methods to play an external .FLV file. Some ideas from this forum and some from the Flash help system. Either I don't understand them and/or I am not implementing them correctly but nothing has worked. I have read of an FLVPlayback component and my system has a MediaPlayback component in the Component window. I have also seen yards of actionscript to play such files. Can anyone supply me with a basic/simple method, with code/example or buttons-to-push if necessary, to have an .SWF play an external .FLV via my MX 2004 system?
I am using Dreamweaver CS$ version 10 and have embedded a flash video on a web page but it is not playing/showingwhen I put it on a test page it works, but not when I place it in my production page.
I am trying to create a flash file out of a .flv movie to behave similar to what you can see in ca.gov. The nice thing about the flash in ca.gov is that before the whole movie loads the flash starts playing it. You can easily see this if you have httpfox or httpwatch installed on your browser that loads only the flash). The file loads first and loads while playing it.
I'd like to create a similar .swf from my .flv file. I use Adobe Flash to publish the .flv file into .swf but what I see in my page is that it loads the whole movie (.flv) file before playing it.
What I am wondering is how I can create my .swf so it starts playing the .flv file while it is loading it. I understand that the movie file I'm using is of type .flv and the one on ca.gov is of type .f4v; but as far as I understand this shouldn't be why it's not working the way I want.
Also, it would be ideal for me to detect the bandwidth of the user and let the flash loads different versions of the .flv file based on the user's bandwidth.
I have a flash file developed by an ex-colleague, to load and play a flash file, however after moving the website to OVH server, the mp3 stopped playing
...
What I'm trying to do is create buttons in one swf that load another swf and also give instructions to begin playing from a certain frame in that swf. The target swf has a preloader on frame 1 and then a movie clip that contains a video in frame 2. Depending on which button the user presses the video will be cued up ready to play at different frames. I think it may need an if statement ie if x=34 then goto frame 34, but I can't seem to pass the variables to the loaded swf. In the zip file is an example of what I'm trying to do.
stop();var pausePoint:Number = 0.00;var isPlaying:Boolean; var soundChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();var sound:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("Sounds/Music_File_2.mp3"));
...
I am trying to play the .mp3 file called "Music_File_2.mp3" the music file is in a folder called "Sounds" 2buttons called Play_btn and Stop_btn plays and stops the music. Once the music playing if i click on the play button the music will pause.
Everything works fine when i launch the program though "Flash Player 10". but when i right click and open the .swf file with Internet explorer the whol project works fine, but the sounds would not play.
