ActionScript 3.0 :: Mask Is Affecting MC Width

Mar 13, 2009

I have a movie clip, in this movie clip there is a mask. I have three layers in this movie clip, 1. the mask, 2. the item being masked, 3. back ground object. When I click on the movie clip on the stage it gives me a width of 150. 150 is the width of the Mask, layer 1, and the back ground, layer 3. trace(movieclip.width); gives 175. 175 is the width of the item being masked on layer 2 of the movie clip. Is this a quark? or is there someway to get the width of the movie clip like when I click on it in on the stage?

Actionscript 3.0 :: Movieclip Scale Affecting Others

Jan 18, 2010

I have x amount of MCs arranged vertically with the distance between each being the same. When I roll over any of them the X & Y scale increases for that particular MC with a tween and on roll out they decrease to the MC's original size. Here comes the sticky bit...how can I maintain the distance between each when the scale of an individual MC is increased/decreased? I have attached a basic swf to show you what I mean. (Only the middle MC is active).

IDE :: Buttons Inside Mc Affecting The Code?

I have this code that makes a menu with two buttons appear following the mouse when the mouse rolls over a movieClip:

Code:
var imgOptions:menuMC = new menuMC();
//Makes the image options follow the mouse
function showImgOptions (e:Event):void

[code]..

The problem is that the buttons are children of imgOptions, and when the mouse is over these two buttons, the movie reacts like the mouse is not over the imgOptions movieclip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Button Affecting Later Keyframe Movieclip

Sep 21, 2010

I have a few language buttons on frame 1 (englishbtn, spanishbtn) in a long timeline with a bunch of keyframes, buttons and movieclips. What I don't know how to do is set up the buttons so that, when pressed, tells a movieclip on a keyframe later in the timeline, to be on a specific frame label (english, spanish).

In other words, when the game gets to the later keyframe with text movieclip, I want the movieclip on that frame to be at a specific frame in the clip (english, spanish), because the button was pressed on frame 1. Some of the text is deep in movieclips on various frames. So those movieclips need to be on the spanish frame, if spanish button on frame1 was pressed.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Programmed Tween Affecting Buttons?

Mar 5, 2009

I am using Flash CS3 targeting flashplayer 9. I have created a menu that has 5 simple buttons in it. I use
a actionscript tween to move the menu from off the stage into view and back again. For some reason when the menu comes on the stage the hittable area of the buttons seems to be getting affected. I am dropping the menu onto the stage so I am only tweening the y property like so

var menuTween:Tween;

menuTween = new Tween(toc_mc, "y", toc_mc.y, 78, 1, true);

When the menu comes into view it is like the hittable area of the button gets squashed vertically down.Even though the text still appears perfectly fine and the background of the button looks right the cursor will only click on a small sliver at the very bottom of each button. Has anyone else seen this?

Flash :: Resize A Movieclip Without Affecting The Scale?

Nov 11, 2009

I have a movie clip object with a width of 306 and height of 194. I need to change the dimensions of the movie clip and still have the x and y scale set at 100. Currently when I change the movie clip width to 352.8, the x scale increases to 115.3%. I have to have the scale reset to 100% after I've adjusted the movie clip's width. Is there a way to do this in CS3? (this is all in design mode, not run time). Do I need to delete the movie clip and recreate it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tabbing Affecting MovieClip The Wrong Way?

Mar 28, 2011

I have a quiz that randomly sorts then dynamically places a question and its answer choices. An answer is a text field laid over a movie clip with a resizable, invisible rectangle and a radio-type button (not actually the radio button component) that handles the rollover and feedback. When clicked, it looks like a selected radio button if correct and has a big red X if incorrect. At this point, I remove all its eventListeners and leave it in the feedback state because the user gets to try again. It also places a feedback box on the screen with the standard, "Try again."

This all works perfectly with the mouse, but the quiz is for .gov sites, so it has to be 508 compliant. When tabbing to and clicking on an answer, the feedback button works fine, and the feedback dialogue does, too. When tabbing to another answer, however, the incorrect try resets to its up state, minus the eventListeners. I am disabling buttonMode when the eventListeners are removed, and I've tried doing all this before the feedback box is placed, as it's placed, and after the user clicks to continue. It doesn't make a difference, and neither does including tabEnabled = false; I tried not even adding the FOCUS_IN and FOCUS_OUT, and that didn't make a difference.

I could removeChild and then add it back as a new, never-been-a-button object, but if there is a simple setting, I'd like to know about it.

Not having a movie clip on the stage until needed (attachMovie when it's time, and then kill it as soon as it's temporarily of no use).visible = false^ Is there a difference in processor demand? When setting visible to false, it seems to me that a few extra variables would need to be stored for the movie clip..._x, _y, _width, _height, _alpha, etc., etc., etc...but I wasn't sure how Flash goes about handling these things or which was better practice?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Set The Volume On A Specific Sound Without Affecting Other Sounds?

Apr 22, 2010

I'm having an issue with setting the volume on my sounds.

I have a number of movieclips, that when clicked on, play a sound. I have created an Event Handler for the movieclip, that when it is clicked on, the sound plays, but the setVolume is higher.

I also have background music, set a bit lower than the rest. Here's the issue, when I click on the movieclip that makes it's specific sounds go higher, the background music goes higher also.

How do I set the volume of my movieclip without it changing the volume of the other sound/s?

Here's the code:

Quote:

gameMusic.setVolume(50);
gameMusic.start(0, 500);

[Code]....

I want gameMusic to stay at 50, but it goes to 300 when I click on shark. Why would that change it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keeping Large Objects From Affecting Stagewidth?

Aug 22, 2010

I have a large movieclip that I am adding to the stage (large in dimension, not filesize). Once it is there I plan to manipulate it's X position by clicking different parts of the movieclip. Unfortunately, where I am moving the clip to is based on stage.stageWidth, which changes as soon as you add this movieclip to the stage. So I can't make any accurate tweens or anything like that. Is there a way I can set objects to not affect the screen width when they are loaded? Or still access the property of the actual window's width?

Also, related to the same thing.....If I dont have it as a mouse trail but just random circles appearing in my box when you mouse_over how do I get it so that the mouse over is not affected when the mouse goes over one of the circles created by addchild?I have attached a small sample of the problem I've got in my actual file.
