ActionScript 2.0 :: Checking Through MovieClips - Array Code Not Working

I'm trying to check through an array to see if any of my movie clips are currently on frame 15, before taking giant leaps I was trying to just get it to work with one var in the array before all of them, for some reason this code is not working, the trace is not coming up.

Code:
stop();
var anybtn:Array = [btn1_mc, btn2_mc];
trace(anybtn[1]);
btn1.onPress = function(){
if(anybtn[1]._currentframe == 15){
trace ("Array Check Working"); .....

If someone would like to go a step further and show me how to check through all movie clips. There will be many more than btn1_mc and btn2_mc so I will definitely need to use an array.

I'm creating multiple movieclips, containing a TextField and an image as a background. In order to keep track of them I'm storing them in an array. The problem is that I can't add the movieclip to the screen >.< What I'm doing is

PHP Code:
addChild(movieclips[0]);

but it's not displaying. I know it's not the movieclip as I can addChild that and it shows, but trying to call it out of the array is not working and it's REALLY frustrating the nark out of me .How do I add the selected movieclip out of my array?

Should be relatively simple to do but I can't see how to do this from the documentation on CheckBoxes...
 
I need to be able to manually set whether or not a CheckBox is 'checked' (or 'ticked' or whatever you want to call it) in my code, how on earth do I do this? Been hunting around for ages to find out how to do this with no luck whatsoever!

I am trying to check through all of my movie clips to see if any of them are on frame 15 so that I can play them. This is my current code

I would also like to figure out a way for the button i click to wait to play the movie clip after the anybtn movie clip is finished playing. Overall I am trying to achieve a menu that works similar to this [URL]. So that it will finish playing the first clip before loading the next.

Flash :: Checking For FlashVars Value In Embed Code AS3?

I thought it was a problem with my Try / Catch statement, but in reality my issue is really just trying to do a check in an If / Else statement to see if my Flash player can obtain any data from a flashVar. If flashVar VID = great, Else read from an XML file.Basically this is what I need to have happen:

Check to see if there are flashVar values

If so then load the other Class files and DO NOT get the XML file

If not then run the code in the Catch statement and load the XML file

UPDATED CODE I put a lot of comments to explain what I'm trying to do :(

CS3 - Key Checking Function Not Working?

I must admit I have struggled with this thing for a bit. It seems simple but for whatever reason I can't get it to work. I just want to make something move in AS 3 right now, and so far I've tried puzzling together two different tutorials, but both of them are missing either some source files or further explanation.

Anyway, here is the code (The bit I am having problems with)

The problem is the checkkey function in the update function. If I leave the parenthesis empty it tells me it needs an argument, if I leave it like that it tells me I need a right paren before colon.

Variable Checking Isn't Working?

Google is ranking my site preety high BUT (bigBut) in MOST searches it lists my swf-s not html pages. So when clicked they are shown in a browser window as single swf-s, not as part of html page. I am trying to workaround this by means of some variable to inspect if swf is opened as standalone or within a html.Here is the problem. I've set up a swf (swf_01 for example) in html page that loads another swf (swf_02) which is in swf_s directory. Swf_01 establishes a variable _global.isActive = 1; when html loads swf_01. So if swf_02 is loaded into the swf_01 variable is TRUE and that is OK and if the swf_02 is loaded directly from search results as a standalone swf it's not OK. That works so far. In swf_02 there is a code that checkes if variable is undefined (meaning that swf is loaded directly from search results) and, if it is, loads the right html into "_self".Somehow it's not working. Maybe my code isn't right.

Code in swf_02 (loaded one):
/if(isActive==undefined){ loadMovie("http://www.mydomain.com/index_services.htm", "_self");} // meaning: if variable is not true > this swf is loaded into browser directly from search

Got two numbers and need to check if they match up (same value).
this won't fire/doesn't work:
if(codeNumb == exCode){};
But this does work:
if ( (codeNumb + exCode)/2==codeNumb){}
What gives?

I'm having a problem checking the position of elements in an array.. for example if I have an array as follows :-I have drawn the number 68 (I always exclude the number drawn). I am checking this array of numbers to see if any exist in the same 'row'Say I have already drawn 61,62 and 63. I don't want this to 'return as true' when I check the array because yes the numbers exist but there is a gap (the numbers arSo I would like to accept if I had 68, 69, 70 because they are sequential from 68 but if I also have 72 I don't wish to accept that number.

Is there a way to make code on the timeline and code in a separate AS file communicate with each other?I have two buttons, a yes button and a no button.I have a confirm box which is a movie clip. In the movie clip I have the two buttons on it and code so that every time one of the buttons is clicked it runs a function.I have the rest of my code for the movie (so the code to make the confirm box appear) on a separate AS file.Is there a way I can define the functions on the movie clip and run the functions with the separate AS file?

I'm trying to do something such as:

I know that all of the data contained inside openList is a type of Node object, but Flash returns an error. I don't know how to typecast such as placing (in another language)...

...to tell Flash that the data returned will be a Node object.

Better yet, is there a way to specify, while declaring the array, the type of the data that will be placed in it?

I could just take the :Node tag out from my variable declaration, but this might be in a tutorial, so I should at least act like I believe half the stuff about proper coding I write about

I have an array that has its values dynamically changed as a user interacts with buttons. I need to constantly check 6 index values from this array against each other so that if they are the same value they count as 1 but if they are unique they also count as 1.

E.g. IF all 6 index points = "A" I get 1 returned
If 3 of the index points = "A"
2 index points = "B"
1 index point = "C"
I get 3 returned to me

So I'm looking for a way to get a number returned to me ranging from 1-6 depending on the values.

I have an array. I have a button, when I press on it I want to be able to loop through every item in the array and see if EVERY item is equal to true, if so I want something to happen.

var allIsTrue = false;
_global.myArray = [false, true, false, true, false, true, false, false, false, false, false, false, false,false,false,true]
///would not do something

I thought I could loop through each one and if a false statement if found, the loop stops and the variable allIsTrue = false. But if the loop cycles all the way through allIsTrue = true.

I have used a method to shuffle a part of a Array, but i noticed that it does not work very well.When i run this method I sometimes get empty array values.So if you would try the example below and test it out some times you would get a right result but sometimes a wrong result.For example when i run this i get in my trace output:

I am still sorting out how things translate to AS3 so here it goes:
 
In the land of AS2:
 
Say you for looped 5 times and placed movieclips on the stage (attachMovieClip) each one having an mc inside called box_mc. You named them in the loop mc_1, mc_2, mc_3, mc_4, mc_5.Then later you wanted to rotate that box in them you could for loop again and target/rotate the box with a line like this:

this["mc_"+i].box_mc.rotation +=5;

Now in the land of AS3:I place 5 movieclips using addChild and the way I later target the box_mc inside them is to use two lines something like this:

I know this method works, but is this the most efficient/correct way of doing this? I tried to get to the box_mc level when assigning the targetMc var, but never found a way that didn't error.Compounding question, how do you make an old line of AS2 work in the AS3 world like this:

this["mc_"+i]["child_mc_"+j].box_mc.rotation +=5;

Alright, so I'm trying out AS3.0, or learning to and I got some questions, which I think should be (and probably are) easy to do.Say I have an .as class file "Animal"and in the Library I have MCs - "Cat", "Dog"in AS2.0 - the MC in the library would have the class of "Animal" and I'd useattachMovie("Cat", ...) or attachMovie("Dog", ...) and it would eference the functions/script of the "Animal" .as Class.Now from what I understand, in AS3.0 - the MC in the library would have the class as "Cat" or "Dog" and I'd change the base class to "Animal" (and have my Animal.as 'class Animal extends MovieClip')Least that's how I think it works.Now let's say in my library I have "Cat1", "Cat2', "Cat3" and I wanted to attach these to the stage through a function
