how to add like a youtube type control bar into a swf to control a movieclip inside the swf so i can add any movie clip in and change a few varibles and still have the whole thing self contained inside the swf. Is there a way to disable/enable the buttons in FLVPlayback component? I got a flv files loaded into a fla file and the swf file then loaded onto the main fla file which where I want to disable/enable the FLVPlayback button at certain time.

Im trying to produce my online portfolio but for that i need to play movieclips backward and forward to various frame numbers.I found a very good script (as2) and it works great in the main timeline but inside a mc it doesnt work at all. this is the script

This is my first time coding a website using ActionScript. So far everything has went very well, I designed the website in Photoshop, and imported to Flash CS5. Then I cleaned everything up, and started adding navigation to the various pages using buttons.The website is constructed in a very simple manner, there are five main pages and they are connected by buttons on a static navigation bar (the first page, home, doesn't have a corresponding button). Then there are nine sub pages, that each contain information on a character of the game, and are connected to corresponding buttons in the 'Character' layer/MovieClip. My four menu buttons (Story, The World, Characters, Extras) all navigate correctly without problems.
The problem arises because inside my Characters page (a movie clip) are nine buttons, each linking to a different page. These buttons should bring the timeline to the frame specified, but when the buttons are clicked nothing happens. I've spent hours searching for a solution to this, but with no avail, and I have a feeling the answer is prettysimple.gotoAndStop("gowang", "Scene 1");line in the Gowang character button function with:MovieClip(root).gotoAndStop("gowang");

i have a swf with a movie clip in it (38 static image frames long)on loading of the swf i would like to play the movieclip, then pause it on the last frame for 1 second then play the frames in reverse then pause it on the first frame for 1 seond and then play the frames in correct order ETC ETC ETC

I am going out of my mind trying to get this to work. I can do it in AS2 without a hitch - but not AS3. I just need to load an external swf file into an empty movieclip. Then I have 2 buttons play and pause that need to be on the top layer of the new movie and they need to play and pause the loaded swf file. I have tried a number of things and nothing is working.

I have a movieclip. And I try pause n play together with sound. But I can't do it. This my code in one frame just play pause movie clip without sound..

I have a movieclip within the main clip called "playPause" which starts with the Pause button shown. When clicked the movie clip moves to show the play button and pauses the current parent movie with the AS "_parent.stop();" when the play button is then pressed the movie plays via "_parent.play();" and reverts back to showing the pause button.
Simple so far. What is getting me is if I add a movie clip within the parent (say some scrolling object) I cannot get the added clip to pause. For example say the "parent" movie clip the playPause moveclip is within is called "intro" and the moving object is called "introObject" which is embedded in a frame along with "playPause"
What I have setup for the playPause buttons is for pausing
_root.introObject.stop();
and playing
_root.introObject.play();

I am trying to load a movieclip and have it be controlled by a play and a pause button. The load works good and the code for the play/pause works.
I need the "test2" file to load the "ball_mc" file and then I should be able to play and pause the ball as it runs across the screen. I think I need it to be a swf file also, but Flashkit won't let me upload that type of file.

I have a timeline of 30 frames, each it's own mc (page01_mc, etc.). In each mc I show a picture or two and hear narration.I have a first, prev and next nav on the main timeline. I need to add a play/pause btn that will pause both pictures and sound. I assume I do that in each mc, but do not know where to find the code.Here is what is in each mc now:

I am working on an app that will take a snapshot of an rtmp stream of an archived video, save it to a file, and ExternalInterface the file name to the hosting page to javascript it up for display.
I actually have all pieces working great. The only time an error is thrown is when I pause the video, seek to somewhere, and then try to take a snapshot. Then there is a runtime error of:
SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: mySwf.swf cannot access rtmp://myFlashServer/myApp. No policy files granted access.I've seen post after post of suggestions and have tried them, but without success.
I have the crossdomain.xml and my FlashMediaServer security setup fine (it is actually working, except for this one glitch). It just seems to be the pause-then-seek-then-BitMapData.draw() combination which is creating issues.
Another weird thing: after the error is thrown, if I resume the stream and take a snapshot, it works flawlessly again.

I have a custom video player I've built and have been adding a seek function to it lately. I ran into an issue where seeking backward in the timeline stalled my timecode. I could seek forward and my timecode updated as expected, but seeking backward, my timecode would stall at the current time before the seek was requested. I run a function on netStream.time() in order to set my timecode.

i already create one main movieiclip(index_mc),including menu button to link multiple movieclip, which is containt: aboutus_mc, story_mc and gallery_mc. all button in index_mc run perfectly.
In gallery_mc i've made thumbnail mc (btnthumb1_mc, btnthumb2_mc,btnthumb3) which inside already has button(btn1,btn2,btn3) to show large images in movieclip (largeimages_mc) which is large images contain several jpeg

So, in my base flash file I have movieclips playing inside of a container.
They are cued from external .swf files.
When one is pushed another checks to see if that movie is at its "midframe" and then plays the remainder of that movie before playing the movie that was pushed.
ALL OF THIS, works fine. The problems is that I have a button inside of these movieclips that I need to play the remainder of the movie to then return to the main menu.
This is the code on the buttons which cycle through the movieclips:
on (release) {
if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
_root.currMovie = "illustration";
container.loadMovie(illustration);
[Code].....
If I wanted the movie to only return to to the main menu I could use this code, but it's flawed for two reasons:
on(release){
_root.gotoAndPlay(1);
}
a. This doesn't play the rest of the movie before returning to the main menu.
b. Once it returns you to the main menu, none of the other movies will play again.

i have a movieclip within a movieclip within a movieclip... i want to simply tell flash to play that movieclip once i click on it.. however, i get an error saying "1120: Access of undefined property tl_character" when i try to publish the file..[code]i know there might be a solution by using a custom class for "police1" but i'd like to know how i could play that movieclip using a function thats written on the main timeline..

I have three buttons I have built as MC's. In each on the MC's timeline I have another MC's with instance name voted01_mc, votecd02_mc, and voted03_mc, respectively. And each of the MC Buttons have instance names Q01_btn, Q02_btn and Q03_btn.
I would like to find a way to control the "visibility" of a movie clip inside one movie clip from inside another MC. I am sure there is a way to do this such as:
Q02_btn.voted02_mc._visible = false;
Q03_btn.voted03_mc._visible = false;
if the MC I wanted to make invisible was on main timeline I would do something like:
root.voted02_mc._visible = false;
root.voted03_mc._visible = false;
SO this would be inside Button MC 01 making the MC inside 02 and 03 invisible.

I have a SWF that is 300x250 and needed to be resized to 336x280. There were a lot of elements to work with and the resulting SWF needed to be less than 40 kb (my starting SWF was 35 kb). To make things as easy as possible I created a stage and background of 336x280 then imported the SWF into the library and centered it. The result fits the correct dimensions without having to resize every element in the original SWF and I was able to come in under 40 kb.The problem is that I need to control the number of times the movie loops. I tried to do this using the following code on the centered movieclip (instance name smallOne):
