View 2 RepliesI have a function with a loop that uses an xml file to get jpg stored in folders...
ActionScript Code:
projectData[ "rootdir" ].attributes[ "src" ] + "/" + currentPictureData[ "fullsize" ].attributes[ "src" ]
the code above is inside the loop and spits out a list of urls for jpgs, nice (project1/full1.jpg, project1/full2.jpg, etc)
can I store these in an array inside this loop so i can use them after the loop has finished?

Is there a possibility to attach a boolean to specific array?

i have an error in my game project. i am trying to attach 5 different movieClips in an Array.but i dont want these movie clips to be appear on the stage when i attach these. but these movie clips appears on the stage as soon as loop executes.
here's the code:

I am attaching mc's from the library using xml to populate the textfields. What I am wanting to do is show the first six mc's, then after say 10 seconds show the next six. With a text field displaying "1 of 3", after 10 seconds, "2 of 3" ....etc. A bit similar to image galleries really (sorry if I haven't explained this very well).Anyhoo, heres what I have so far, it loads the mc's one after each other:

View 6 RepliesI have a foreign language resource which randomly creates and displays a number. The player then needs to select the correct number in a particular foreign language. What i also need to do is play the audio for the randomly created number. I have numbers 13-20 all as seperate sound files also named as identifier names 13,14,15 etc up to 20.
The following script loads the sounds. Sound1 is the sound which needs to hold the random number which is generated:

I'm trying to attach clips based on elements in an array. then when all the clips are attached, i'm using setinterval to have the attached clips slide onto the stage and stop in a row.the name of the dyamically attached clip isn't tracing in my function (the one with interval set).

So, all the objects are in the library and have a linkage name to be called by attachMovie. I'm trying to figure out how to generate an array whose elements are each arrays to make a quick loading database of sorts.the main array could essentially be something like "employees" while each employee would have demographic data like age, salary, gender, etc.In some cases the information on some employees would be greater than others, and options created by "push" would imply the number of elements within each employee array would be variable until generated.[code]But I get the feeling this type of array as it is currently described doesn't lend itself well to adding new elements in the way I've described.My goal is once an employee's information has been entered and saved, I can call up their info by array number like aEmployee[2], and if employee 2's name is Bob, then Bob's name would appear in the text field, along with all the other fields related to Bob's array, such as being male, 42 years old, and living in Witchita Kansas.Would I modify a multidimensional array, or do I want an array within an array, and is there a way to add "arrays" as elements?

View 1 Repliesgenerate random text with the click of a button. I have followed the kirupa.com tutorial for 'loading random quotes' but I am still getting a few undesirables. Firstly, I am generating an 'undefined' result occasionally. (Even with the example text from the tutorial). I have 5 quotes as per the example, but still get undefined as a result from time to time. Also, how would I go about altering the code so the same quote wasn't generated immediately after itself?

Can this script be modified so that the movie fades to alpha zero a short time after the stop action, and the re-appears to play instantly when the play action is triggered?
I'm completely redoing the backend stuff for my site to make it more efficient.I am using attachMovie to attach a button. However, how do I attach actionscript to the button to make it go places because it is coming onto the movie directly from the library. Also, it isn't possible to add actionscript in the screen where you have the four states of a button.

View 5 RepliesI want to generate a maximum of 5 childs in a clip called 'placeholder' using a button (placeCloud_1). the childs will 'float' to the top of the stage. when the y=0 the child must be removed (using the function checkPos() ) so i can add another child without exceding the number of 5 childs.
Everything works, except for the removeChild! i've tried removeChild(this) , this.removeChild(this), parent.this.removeChild(this), parent.this.removeChild(mc), placeholder.removeChild(this) etc... and nothing works. When using (this) it throws TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert global@2f6710d1 to flash.display.DisplayObject.
