ActionScript 2.0 :: Invoking A Function In A Class On A Mouse Event

i am trying to activate a function within a class on a mouse rollover -this is AS2 in CS3 and i have the following in my Class.as:

the global.pane_array is specified in my FLA Obviously i would like to see the trace from the array, but nada.... if i put the movePanes() outside the rollover event, it works fine... however this does not achieve my goals
also if i declare the function as a global function from within my FLA, and then call it on the rollover e.g. _global.movePanes() - it works!

I would like to be able to call a public method of DocumentClass from GameClass. I don't know how to do that, I tried instantiating an object of DocumentClass within GameClass which simply throws me into an endless loop and after a short while application crashes.

I have a question about making a function for two different kinds of event. It's not critical but I would like to reduce my lines of code and just be more efficient. Basically I have a button on the stage called "Enter". I also want the user to have the option of hitting the enter button. I don't have a problem making these two separate handlers for these events (i.e. one handler for the KeyboardEvent and one handler for the MouseEvent):

I have a movie with a video and when I exit fullscreen mode (pressing ESC) I want to execute a function. I mean, exit fullscreen and execute my function at the same time when pressing 'ESC'.I tried to add a listener but it doesnt work.[code]When I go fullscreen, I press ESC and flash exits fullscreen, but myFunction() doesnt load. If I press ESC a second time myFunction() works.Is the ESC key blocked in fullscreen mode?

i have a for loop running through an array:

First post, I hope I get it right.

It doesn't work, although one could think it would. You can probably guess what I'm after - I want to invoke getInput at various places and specify which function it's gonna call. If I use getInput(_root.buttonA, actionA) it should invoke a local function by the name of actionA, not actionPress.

so today my question is how can we have 1 function triggered by both a Timer event and a Mouse event? 'm trying to avoid having to re-write/re-name a function just because I also have a Mouse event that triggers it and not just a Timer event.
Issue:
I have a addThis bubble fade in with icons on a button rollover, the addThis bubble will fade out after the timer is finished, but I also have a close button in that bubble which needs to use the same function that the timer uses. (want to avoid writing 2 exactly alike functions)
I'm hoping this there is an easy workaround for this like event:null or something.[code]./...

I have no trouble invoking a Class using the code on the main timeline shown below; var testClass:MyClass = new MyClass(); //code on maintimeline invoke Class. However, if I were to remove this code and just use the Flash Class Input Field and insert; MyClass //the name of the Class. I get throwback errors:
1 - Call to possible addFrame Script?
2 - MyClass must subclass flash.display.MovieClip etc
I've tried variations of adding and removing the flsh.display.MovieClip Class

I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:

I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?

i have a password game where users need to select the correct 3 buttons to progress to the next stage. The 3 buttons that need to be selected are: pwd_btn1, pwd_btn2,pwd_btn3. After, the user must click on "submit_btn" to verify if they have chosen the correct buttons. So far everything works fine. So what i would like to happen is that once the 3 buttons are selected, and before the submit_btn is clicked, a function is triggered that will apply a glow effect to the submit_btn, indicating to the user to click on it.[code]

I have inserted two keyframes in the timeline, then i included scripts on each keyframe. The script in first keyframe is following:

The error which was reported while compiling is defined as follows: When i click on the movieclip 'mc' created in the first frame, an error like "ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on gallery_fla::MainTimeline/clicked(). Expected 0, got 1." is showing. Actually i need to go to the second frame while clicking on the movieclip on first keyframe.

I'm new to AS3 and I'm working on a game that I've run into a problem with.I converted a movie on my main timeline to a movie clip and suddenly my event listeners weren't working right. I am working with code where the variable "k" is a counter. I stripped out the extraneous stuff from the code below - so essentially when the function onExamPlusClick is called, the counter "k" and the minutes of an activity in an array both increment (as well as other things not shown). I'd like to return "k" as well as "activity[0].minutes" to the main program. Since the function is a MouseEvent, I'm unable to change "void" to "number"... and not sure how to return (pass) those variables back to the ain program.

I've decided to add keyboard capabilities to my program. All my functions I have written require a mouse event to be passed to them. I'm just wondering if there is a better way to run these mouse event functions rather than to take out the contents of these functions and create a new function that is called within a mouse event function OR a keyboard event function. What I mean is I am starting to change the mouse event functions I have to only have one line inside of them which will run a separate function. This same separate function I will run using a keyboard input as well.

how do I use mouse event listeners outside of my document class. I have the following simplified document class:
public class Main extends Sprite

However, this doesn't work in its current state; "State1" isn't outputted. I have seen references to the use of the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE event, but am not sure if that is what I need to do, or how to use it.

In this example, of course, rollOutHandler only does one thing, but this function could contain lots and lots of code, and I would not want to repeat all of it again inside the clickHandler function.

I have a question about accessing properties of a custom class from within another class. I can do it, but I'm not sure if I am doing it the right way or if there is a simpler alternative. I have a class called legion it contains a couple of properties, a sprite called legio and an integer called loc I import the legion class into another class called Main.
Within Main I have a loop to create many versions of legion, passing parameters so that they all have unique loc values. These are put into an array called legarray:

I'm building a drag and drop quiz. each draggable mc (drag#) has a base class of DragDrop. I want to detect when an drag mc has been dropped on a target

I was trying to load an external SWF (that contains the below code in its document class) with the Loader class but i keep on receiving Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. So i tried to use the event listener Event.ADDED in MyDocumentClass constructor of the external SWF to let the document class be part of the display list before i invoke createRandomGraph. But when i place createRandomGraph( ) inside onStageReady, The compilation process hangs. When i leave the createRandomGraph( ) inside the constructor, it works perfectly as stand alone but will produce Error 1009 if loaded within the loader SWF
